Chapter 149: A Thrilling Ride
“Stop! Stop! I said stop, you f*cking dimwit! If you keep driving like this, we are going to die!” Ari screamed, her heart was filled with fear as she stared at the sea wall that was getting closer and closer. Ari had no idea what was going on in Noah’s head, however, as she stared at the tetrapod-shaped rocks getting closer, she knew that this man had lost his damn mind.
She let go of her grip on the edge of her seat and reached forward to turn the steering wheel around. If he was not going to stop, then she would make him stop.
However, Ari soon realized that Noah was holding the steering wheel in a death grip, she couldn’t turn it around.
“You…do you want to die? Even if you want to die! Why do you want me to be buried with you? Look for Ariel!” Ari glared at the man.
“Is it enough?” Noah asked her with a cold voice. He turned around and questioned, “Are you happy now?”
How could Ari even have the rationality to care about Noah’s questions in such a situation? Not to mention they did not even make sense. She stared at the sea wall while holding the steering wheel and screamed, “PRESS ON THE BREAKS!”
SCREECH!
The car finally came to a stop. It swivelled just in time before smashing into the sea wall. Ari was still clinging to the steering wheel, her eyes were popping out of their sockets as she stared at the large rocks that were just a few feet away from them.
If … If Noah hadn’t turned the car just now, they would be dead.
Ari breathed a few more times as she gulped heavily. Her eyes closed before she opened them, only when she was certain that the car was no longer moving did she let go of the steering wheel.
‘I thought I was really going to die tonight,’ Ari thought with a slight wince, while she suppressed the nausea that surged in her throat.
Noah didn’t know it, but she had severe motion sickness, there was once when she tried to mention it, but her mother-in-law stopped her.
‘Stop being so squeamish. You are not a rich heiress but a girl with no backing, why are you acting like a woman from a wealthy background?’ Mrs Nelson had mocked her, which led to Ari suppressing her discomfort.
Usually, she took her motion sickness medicine before getting in the car, but Noah took her surprised and she did not get a chance to eat the medicine. Not to mention, the speed——
“Ugh,” Ari tried to ease the throbbing headache as she turned to look at Noah. With a fire burning in her eyes, she questioned angrily, “What is wrong with you? If you want to act crazy, just do it alone. Why do you have to drag me?”
Even now, her hands were trembling because of the raw fear she felt just now.
Noah turned to look at her. Unlike Ari, who seemed to be shaking with the jitters, he was calm as the ocean in front of them. He didn’t seem worried, as if everything was under his control from the start.
Upon seeing his complacent look Ari gritted her teeth. She hatefully glared at him and questioned, “What in the world is wrong with you? Do you think that you are the ruler of this city or what? How could you drag me into something so dangerous?” Ari understood that Noah did it deliberately, but she could not understand his reasons for doing something so dangerous.
A small mistake could have caused them to lose their lives.
“I might not be the ruler of this city, but I am wiser than you,” Noah reminded her in a gentle voice. “While you are nothing but a naive woman who doesn’t even understand what is good for you,” he huffed lightly while looking down at Ari, a bit in his heart. “In fact, you are not a fool but a clown who doesn’t understand that he is being laughed at because of his actions.”
Ari stared at the man, she was so angry that she did not know what to say to him. She chuckled and stated, “Are you for real? You kidnapped me and took me to this hell ride all because you wanted to tell me that I am a clown?” The chuckle slowly died down as she became serious. “Mister Nelson, you did not have to waste your time for this, having remained married to you for three years is enough to tell me that I am a clown!”
“Because if I wasn’t one, I wouldn’t have remained married to you despite the humiliation that I received from your family! I wouldn’t have given up on my dreams and hopes for the sake of maintaining your family’s reputation.”
The more she spoke, the more Ari’s voice rose. She wished she could slap Noah, but she didn’t dare to take her chances when she was locked in the car together with him.
A man who almost smashed the car into the sea wall, she did not dare to test him.
Noah pursed his lips. The grip that he had on the steering wheel turned even tighter as he questioned, “So, is this why you want to take a thrilling ride?”
“Excuse me?” Ari’s brows furrowed. She looked at the man with her eyes flickering with doubt. What did he mean by that? When did she even talk about taking a thrilling ride?
“There is no need to pretend,” Noah smirked at her. He turned to look at the front before glancing at her sideways, “The reason you are clinging to Nicolai is because you seek thrill right? However, what you don’t understand is that this thrill that you seek will eventually lead you to doom.”
“If you do not understand what I am saying, just think of how you enjoyed this ride.”
