Chapter 153: Costly tantrum
Fortunately for Harrison, the sound of tyres coming to a halt with a screech echoed in the living room.
“Noah is back!” Madam Mia’s lips curled up in a satisfied smile, and she forgot the unpleasant matter that took place just now. She sashayed her way to the front of the house. Her heels clicked on the marble floor with delicate clicks and clacks.
Behind her, Harrison heaved a sigh of relief. Just now he thought that he was going to be fired. He turned to continue with his work when he heard Madam Mia greet Noah, “Son, it’s a good thing that you returned. You seem to be tired, do you want to drink water or shall I ask Harrison to brew a coffee for you?”
Noah, who was striding inside the house, paused. He recalled the bitter taste of the coffee that was being served to him and his stomach recoiled. Suddenly, he remembered the taste of the coffee that Ari made for him and his expression turned sombre.
He raised his hand and touched the cheek that Ari had slapped.
“No need, mom. I am tired, you can eat dinner and go to sleep,” Noah spoke as he walked past his mother.
How could Madam Mia leave the matter? Her gaze had caught the swelling on Noah’s cheek. She charged behind her and questioned worriedly, “What happened? Why is your cheek swollen?”
“Mom! I am not six years old. Leave some matters for me to handle, please? Stop poking your nose in everything,” Noah was already in a bad mood because of the things that Ari said, with his mother bothering him, his temper couldn’t help but turn for the worse.
Even so, he did not raise his voice.
However, Madam Mia, who had never seen her son like such, couldn’t help but flinch.
“Noah… I——” Madam Mia opened her mouth, but Noah did not want to hear anything at the moment. He knew that his mother would certainly ask him about Ari’s return.
She had been going crazy with questions like—- When is Ari coming back? Noah, are you even trying? How could that woman even ignore you?
Madam Mia watched her son climb the stairs without looking back.
Coupled with the fact that Glynn had said some rude things along with the messages and threats, she had received in the morning, Madam Mia could no longer keep the smile on her lips.
“What is wrong with you all? Why are you acting like this in front of me? At least tell me the reason!” Madam Mia picked up the vase that was sitting at the edge of the stairs and threw it on the ground.
The pieces of vase scattered all over the floor, leaving Harrison to wince. He closed his eyes and patted his chest while muttering, “It’s alright, Harrison. That antique was only two million dollars.”
“Argh!” Madam Mia, who had lost her temper, was about to rush ahead and smash another vase, but upon seeing this, Harrison couldn’t sit still. He immediately rushed ahead and protected the vase behind him like a chick.
“Madam! Madam, this vase is the old master’s favourite. If you break it then the old master will be furious.”
If she broke the vase, Madam Mia would blame him later on. Harrison was used to something like this happening more than once, having worked in this house for years.
“Get out of my way! A small butler will tell me what I should and shouldn’t do now?” Madam Mia’s temper flared up. Her children ignored her and now even a servant was daring to go against her?
She pushed Harrison to one side and was about to grab the vase when ——
“What in the world are you doing with Dad’s favourite vase, sister-in-law? Put it down, Mia or else my dad will get a stroke if he were to find out that you broke his hundred million vases!” Jeremy, who returned home with a smile, panicked when he saw Mia striding towards the vase that was kept outside Old Master Nelson’s door.
He ran over to where Madam Mia was standing and snatched the vase from her.
If his dad lost this vase, they would lose the roof over their heads.
Madam Mia hadn’t expected her brother-in-law to return. She was startled and almost dropped the vase, luckily, Jeremy was holding it or else it would have broken.
“Take it inside the antique room,” Jeremy handed the vase delicately to Harrison. He was worried that Madam Mia would break the vase when he wasn’t paying attention.
Harrison almost shed tears of blood when he saw the two-hundred-year-old vases safe and sound. He took the vase and walked away to where the antique room was, leaving Jeremy and Madam Mia behind.
“Sister-in-law, for the last time, leave my dad’s antique alone, will you?” Jeremy said while rubbing his forehead. “Do you not remember how angry Dad was when you broke his chessboard?”
Madam Mia pursed her lips. “Of course, I do not wish to throw those things on the ground, Jeremy. But you are blaming me wrongly, it’s your niece and nephews who cause trouble for me every single day.”
She relayed what happened to Jeremy and the latter was left speechless.

He rubbed his forehead even harder and stated, “Mia, you were indeed in the wrong this time. Firstly, Glynn is not a child. You cannot keep an eye on everything that she does, it will make her even more rebellious. She has her pride, and you need to respect that.”
“As for Noah,” his eyes flashed. “I will speak with him, there is no need for you to break any more vases or any other antique. Alright?”
Madam Mia nodded with a scowl. “Then please make that boy understand, that his grandfather will be returning in a few days, and he hasn’t brought that woman back home. I am afraid that those shares…” she did not speak further, but Jeremy understood her worries.
