Chapter 157: Filing a complaint
Arabella pursed her lips before shaking her head with a light sneer on her face. “She is a woman who clings to men.”
“Oh my! I did think that it was a bit weird for a woman like her to live in SH apartments. I just did not think that she was one of those women, but then again, times are like this …and women like her growing quite in number. Such a degrading appearance and dress where one can see everything, I can tell by just one look that she is some sugar baby raised by a rich old man,” stated the other woman with a slight snort while staring at Ari.
Arabella curled her lips but when she thought about the dashing appearance of the two men, her heart turned sour. She couldn’t understand why Ari could get together with two handsome men while she had to rely on that old man. She glared at Ari feeling upset and hateful before continuing with her walk.
“I bet she is going to another one of her lovers tonight. I heard that the day of paying the monthly rent is getting close,” stated Arabella with a firm expression. It was as if she knew something that the others did not.
Though no one discussed it openly, someone did see Arabella on the night when she tried to get close to Nicolai and was coldly rejected. Because of this, all kinds of rumors were spreading in the building and Arabella was worried that her husband would hear them.
He was an insecure man, given that he was in his fifties while Arabella was only in her twenties. If her husband was to hear those rumours, he would be very upset with her. Arabella didn’t want to lose her reputation because of someone like Ariana.
Away from the two women, whom Ari had met, she was now walking down the small path that led to the police station. The streetlights glimmered under the moonlight, shedding a golden glow on the pedestrians who were late to return home. Ari did not turn to look behind her whether the two women disappeared or not. She knew that Arabella was a woman who liked to condemn other women, and at the same time, she wanted to showcase her goodness. Nothing good would come out if she were to quarrel with her.
More importantly, Arabella had lived in that building for years, while Ari started living there just a month ago. The other residents might not support her and blindly believe Arabella.
And if she continued with the useless fight, then she might find herself in a precarious situation where she might turn more than one person into her enemy. People like Arabella stuck together, and they did not support or listen to someone like Ari, who was neither rich nor had a background.
If anything they found it offensive if she were to quibble with them.
A sigh escaped her lips, she stared at the moon that was playing hide and seek. All she wanted was to live peacefully, why was it so difficult?
Ari walked over to the small police station that was not far from the apartment building. Of course, the rich had such privilege because they were the ones who were more prone to being robbed not the poor.
This was something that Ari would never understand.
Ari strode inside the police station with her rosy hair cascading down her shoulders. Because she did not have the opportunity to worry about her appearance, she didn’t comb her hair and left it undone. Now her hair was tousled, making her look lazy and seductive. Her blue eyes flashed with annoyance when the man, sitting on the opposite side of the police table, leered at her.
Ari ignored the man and turned her attention to the police officer behind the table.
“Good evening sir, might I know where I can complain about trespassing and stalking?” Ari asked in a soft and polite voice.
The police officer was writing the report of a cat being stolen when he heard the words of the woman. He raised his head dangling looked at the woman in front of him and was startled.
He had never seen a woman as pretty as Ari.
Furthermore, he pointed to the table that was at the corner of the station and said, “You can have your complaint written there.”
Ari turned and looked in the direction in which the officer was pointing. She smiled at him politely and replied, “Thank you, kind officer.” She offered another smile and then walked over to where the officer had pointed.
Her feet were quick to walk in the direction of where the young man was sitting behind the table. It was as if she were on a mission and would get to the bottom of this matter no matter what.
“Hello, can I file a complaint of stalking and trespassing here?” She asked politely to the young man.
The young man raised his head and nodded. There was a hint of appreciation in his eyes and he wasn’t surprised that a woman like Ari was at the police station, to file a complaint.
“How may I help you, miss?” He asked as the young man picked up a file in which he wrote the complaints. With a pen in hand, he flicked the pages of the book.
Ari took out the hyacinths and the letter which was sent to her door and placed it in front of the man.
“This was delivered to my house this morning. But I don’t know who the sender is, I am just a divorced woman who lives alone, officer. It will be really nice of you if you can look into this matter,” Ari said with an aggrieved voice. “I have no one in this world who will care about me if something were to happen to me. The only option that I had was to come to the police.”
As she spoke a few tears escaped her eyes and she wiped them with the back of her hands.
