Chapter 158: Holds no meaning
When the police officer heard that Ariana had no one upon whom she could rely, his expression softened. He glanced at the bouquet and questioned, “When was this bouquet delivered to your house, Miss?”
“It was delivered just half an hour ago, someone rang a doorbell and left this on the front of my door. But when I opened the door, there was no one and there was only this card attached to the flowers,” Ari relayed everything that happened to the police officer. She picked up the card and then showed it to the man who took it from her.
He read the dangerous yet weird message written on the card and pursed his lips.
“Do you have any suspects?” The police officer asked after he had done jotting down the information that was given to him.
Ari thought about it and shook her head. “I don’t think that I have anyone who would do something so immoral, officer. I am a simple woman like I said. I work in a small café as a barista and come home after finishing my work. Furthermore, I haven’t entangled with any man at the moment.”
Though she thought of Nicolai, Ari did not doubt that man. As Nicolai was like a storm, he would leave chaos and destruction behind him, everywhere he went.
Working in silence was not his forte.
The police officer nodded as he noted her words down on the paper. He then glanced at the bouquet and said, “It’s better if you leave it here, miss, I will have it sent to the forensics and let us see if we can detect any fingerprints on it. However, the chances of something being caught are highly unlikely.”
Seeing the frown on Ari’s face, the officer knew that she was worried. He sighed and said,
“I understand that this thing has troubled you, Miss,” the officer sighed as he placed the card back on the surface of the table. “I will ask the officers who were patrolling around your area to collect the surveillance recording around your apartment building, and we will see if we can find something about this stalker of yours.”
He pushed a file in front of Ari and stated, “Leave your address and phone number on it. If we find something, we will relay it to you. For now, stay on guard and don’t let any unknown person inside.”
Ari nodded. She also knew that without any evidence, the officers could not do anything. Though she was a bit nervous, she could only wait for some news.
“Thank you for your help, officer,” Ari flashed a polite smile at the officer who had written her complaint and then turned to walk out of the police station.
Once she was gone, an elderly officer walked over to where she was sitting and asked, “Why did that woman come to look for you?” He was holding a hot dog as he munched on it while leaving a bunch of stuff on the floor.
The young officer looked at the man and subtly frowned. Though he was disgusted by the actions of his senior, he did not say anything. He simply pursed his lips and said, “It is nothing. A stalker is troubling the woman and left a bunch of hyacinths and this note at her door. She has filed a complaint against this stalker.”
The senior officer chewed the bite in his mouth and then took a look at the complaint. He rolled his eyes and licked his fingers before saying, “What nonsense? It’s her fault for looking and dressing like that. Instead of paying attention to that woman, you might as well look for the ragdoll cat that has been lost for a week. Mr. Poverly is getting impatient as his daughter is not eating or drinking.”
When the young officer heard the words of the Senior officer, he furrowed his brows. He justly said, “That woman is being stalked by someone. There is a plausible chance that he is someone dangerous, what if something happens to her while we are looking for the cat.”
“So?” The senior officer said with an affronted look on his face. “Matthew, you are young, and you don’t understand. That woman is a nobody and nobody dies every day but the ragdoll cat that belongs to Miss Poverly? She is worth millions. Even the collar that she wears is pricier than that woman’s life.”
“Stop paying attention to such foolish things and look for that cat. If Mr Poverly doesn’t see that cat, then the head of the department will ask us to come and see him.”
Matthew looked at the senior officer who walked away after giving him twisted tips. He pursed his lips and looked at the bouquet of hyacinths, if possible he would have helped Ariana, but unfortunately, they lived in a world where the life of a cat that belonged to the rich held more worth than a human.

The following day, Ariana slept a bit longer than she usually did. She had no idea that the report that she had filed was being ignored because of a cat. Tired from all the tossing and turning she did at night after finding out that she was being stalked, she did not wake up.
However, when her clothes were suddenly pulled, Ari frowned and squinted her eyes, she saw Timmy pulling the sleeves of her clothes and the ringing in her ear which she had been ignoring until now became more and more loud.
It was her alarm.
“What time is it, Tim?” She asked stupidly as she was still half sleepy. Her hand worked as she looked for her phone that was sitting on the cabinet next to her. She picked it up and looked at the time. “Oh it’s only eight thirty in the morning,” she murmured and placed the phone on the cabinet again before closing her eyes and going back to sleep.
But as soon as she closed her eyes and yawned, Ari snapped her eyes open once again and yelped, “Shoot! It’s eight-thirty in the morning!”
