Chapter 160: Always this easy?
Nicolai raised a brow at the sharp tone of the woman in front of him. He remarked, “Pallas, that’s not a way to talk to your creditor.”
Though Nicolai did not say anything else, the reminder alone was enough to make her stiffen. She glanced at Nicolai who was smiling at her before offering him a stiff smile, “Mister De Luca, forgive me, but I am getting late and today is my first day at the hospital. I am afraid that I cannot entertain you presently.”
“Ah, you are getting late? What a coincidence, I am going to the hospital as well,” he raised the lunch box that was sitting on his side and said to her, “Aunt Nadia asked me to bring this to Aiden, it’s just that I didn’t want to break my streak. What if I didn’t come to see you, and you missed me?”
“What makes you think that I will miss my creditor, Mister De Luca?” Ari asked with a slight note of wonder in her voice. There might hardly be a person who would miss their creditors to whom they needed to pay the money back.
Nicolai curled his lips. “One can always hope, anyway… I thought that I was more than your creditor, Pallas. I don’t think that a creditor would bring their debtor who is burning with fever to the hospital.”
Ari wondered if she could ever win against this man. He had a retort for everything. Not to mention, he never played by the rules. If she brought one thing up, he had another trick in his sleeves which he played against her, causing her to be defenceless against him.
“I am thankful for your help, Mister De Luca, but like I said I am getting late——”
“Which is exactly why I suggested giving you a ride. You are too oblivious to everything around you, Pallas. I don’t blame you though, with an unromantic man like Noah by your side, I don’t believe you had seen much of a man’s advances,” Nicolai stated as he pushed open the door of his car. “Now get it.”
“What if I don’t?” Ari questioned with her hands clenched tightly on her sides. Was this man going to force her like, how, Noah did to her?
Nicolai blinked his eyes. The teasing in his red eyes if possible turned even more intense as he remarked, “Then you don’t get in. What? Did you think that I will go all caveman shit on you? Come on, Pallas. I do have some wild streaks, but I don’t use them on women who ain’t mine.” He added when he saw the surprise on her face.
His mother had taught him better. Others might believe that he was a man of no virtue, but he didn’t go against the wishes of women. Especially the one whom he was chasing.
Upon hearing his words, Ari was stunned. She had expected Nicolai to be a man worse than Noah. Contrary to her beliefs, Nicolai seemed genuinely calm and collected. He wasn’t faking it. He truly did not make a woman do what she didn’t want to.
She blinked her eyes and stared at Nicolai and his car. Just as she was pondering about whether to take his offer, she heard Nicolai say, “It’s just that I will chase after you in my car until you get in.”
Ari was speechless. A second ago, she thought that he was a good man, but now his words caused her to backpedal almost immediately.
“Are you saying that you will chase me down unless I get in your car?” Ari questioned to make the situation clear. She had not seen such a stupid and childish way of wooing a woman for a long time.
However, Nicolai looked rather proud, like a child who got an A in his exams.
He nodded and even agreed with what Ari said, “That’s right.”
Seeing that she had no other option, Ari sighed and walked over to the car. She slid inside and no sooner did she sit next to Nicolai than the scent of bergamot, marshmallows and whipped cream wafted over to him. She had expected Nicolai to smell of musk and blood, but he smelled like a lemon cake.
A bit sharp with a hint of sweetness.
“Wasn’t that easy?” Nicolai remarked as he settled down in his seat. He turned to look at Patrick and said to him, “Turn on the air conditioner. I am hot.” He wasn’t hot. It was Ari’s presence that was making him a bit uncomfortable.
Nico the Great was excited about the sight of Ari who was dressed in a plaid dark greenish grey shirt that had slits on the shoulders which showed her arms and even though she was wearing wide pants, it wasn’t enough to hide her well-defined legs.
Not to mention the scent of coconut milk and vanilla was making him Nico The Great give the woman next to him a standing ovation.
It was as if he were thanking this woman for just existing.
Nicolai ignored the twitching in his pants and glanced at Ari who was staring out of the window.
“Are you alright, Pallas?” Nicolai asked as he broke the silence in the car. “You seem a bit tired.”
Ari, who was staring out of the window, turned to look at Nicolai. She blinked her eyes and nodded, “I am fine.”
She would rather not tell Nicolai about the bouquet. Call her stupid but even though Nicolai was nice to her, she didn’t dare to trust him as Ari knew that the man only wanted to get in her pants.
What if she continued to pile up his favors which resulted in her being taken to his bed?
Nicolai assessed her carefully, but he didn’t pick up anything amiss. But then again, Ariana was a woman who hardly showed anything on her face. She was someone who guarded herself with not just walls but freaking armed shields.
One wrong step and the guns on top would explode his head.

So he knew that he had to play it safe. It’s just that ——
He looked down at his crotch and groaned when he noticed the large bulge. Damn it.
‘Was I always this easy?’
