Chapter 163: A cold scolding
“Miss, I——”
Ari wanted to clear her stance. She didn’t understand which action of hers, made the nurses misunderstand her, but it was necessary to clear the air as she was going to work in this hospital from now on.
But before Ari could speak, one of the nurses raised her hand and said coldly,
“There is no need for you to say anything, Miss. We all know that you are here for Doctor Dimitri, but he is really busy at the moment and doesn’t have the time to care for you or your lunchbox. Please leave when we are being polite.”
The nurses had seen many women come to look for Aiden every day, now they were more or less numb to the sight. Unfortunately, for Ari whose face resembled an ethereal beauty, this stigma was not a good thing.
She shook her head and said, “I am not here to hand this lunchbox to…no, I mean I am indeed here to hand him this lunchbox, but it’s not mine. I didn’t cook this lunch for him, it’s from Doctor Dimitri’s home. As for me, I am his student, I believe that he must have relayed it to you. Can you please check——”
“Miss, are you going to leave on your own or shall I call the security?” The nurse with the tight bun, didn’t expect that Ari would have so many excuses and lies.
Ari felt stumped. She hadn’t expected that she would be blocked at the first step, she was thinking about calling Aiden when an energetic voice came from behind.
“What’s going on? Who are you calling the security at?” Mable, who returned from her duty, walked over to the nurse station and her gaze fell on Ari. Her eyes flashed with a hint of recognition, but she didn’t say anything.
The first time the two of them met with one another was not a good memory and Mable did not wish to scrape an old wound for no reason.
“Nurse Mable, she——”
“Nurse, I am the new student, Doctor Dimitri had taken. I came here to join the internship for the first day, but the nurses here are not listening to me nor are they believing what I am saying. Can you please look at the situation?” Ari spoke before the nurse with a bun as tight as a pulled bowstring could say anything.
Mable raised her brows. She turned to look at the nurses at the nurse station and questioned, “What is this young woman saying? Did you ask her to leave without checking the truth, Beaty?”
The nurse called Beaty opened her mouth looking affronted and quibbled, “Mable, you know how many women play the same trick.” She then glanced at Ari and stated coldly, “And she doesn’t look like someone who is here for serious business.”
Ari’s hands itched, and she wished she could hurl the lunchbox at the face of Beaty. Just because she didn’t resemble a serious woman in her eyes, she was refusing to check her name in the register of appointments?
Mable’s expression turned stern. She glanced at the four nurses and reprimanded them immediately, “Is this how you are supposed to act as nurses? Instead of working seriously, you are relying on your own feelings and thoughts. If that is the case, then I will ask all the doctors to stop working. You can save the lives of patients relying on your own!”
“Every job that is given to you has a certain procedure! No matter what you need to stick to those procedures and steps, even if you have to repeat them ten times a day, you need to do it. As long as you are working as a nurse, serving every single person who comes to this hospital is your job. If you cannot even do your job, then why are you getting paid!??”
The nurses lowered their heads after getting scolded. Mable turned to look at Ari and smiled at her apologetically.
“I am sorry, these nurses must have created some unnecessary trouble for you,” Mable spoke as she walked to the nurse station and opened the laptop. She asked, “Miss, can you tell me your name? This is to confirm your appointment.”
“Ariana Harlow, I am here to join an internship under Doctor Dimitri,” as she spoke Mable tapped on the keyboard and nodded.
“You are right, there is indeed an appointment scheduled for Miss Ariana Harlow,” Mable said with a pleasing smile. “It’s a good thing that I came here or else we all would have been subjected to criticism at the hands of Doctor Dimitri because of someone’s incompetence.” As she spoke she looked at the four nurses who turned embarrassed.
Mable harrumphed. She didn’t say anything too rude, but that did not mean that she hadn’t seen through the small thoughts of these nurses. Aiden was her nephew and was related to Nicolai, many women wished to marry him.
She usually ignored these four nurses, but it was on the pretext that they didn’t cause any trouble for Aiden and the hospital.
‘Maybe, I should have them transferred. If they stay in this department, they will, sooner or later, cause trouble,’ Mable thought while turning to look at Ariana with a smile on her face.
“Come with me, Miss Harlow. I will take you to Doctor Dimitri’s office,” said Mable as she turned on her feet and started walking away. Ari followed her without glancing at the blushing nurses.
Once the two women walked away, the nurses with glasses asked worriedly, “Will Nurse Mable and that woman complain to Doctor Dimitri?” She was the youngest and had the least experience. She was worried that she would be fired.
The other three nurses didn’t speak, but their expressions were not right.
On the other hand, Mable was speaking to Ari as if she were her long-lost friend.
“You don’t need to worry about those women, Miss Harlow. They are a bit troublesome, but they are trained experts, you can work in this hospital without worrying about anything.”
