Chapter 174: Cleaning the unclean
As Ari expected, the nurses and the staff did not have many complaints when they saw Ari pick up a dirty rag and clean the grimy walls. In fact, after watching her clean the members of the cleaning staff, couldn’t help but say,

“Miss Harlow, leave this matter to us,” said a woman whose hair was neatly covered with a white cap. She was wearing a pastel green uniform.

She smiled at Ari and the many wrinkles on her face scrunched up, “We can do this alone.”

The woman was afraid that if someone saw Ari cleaning the room, they would have some opinion about their staff members.

Ari’s hands that were rubbing the wall paused. She turned to look at the elderly woman with a smile in her eyes. She turned her body to the side very subtly and said, “I know, but if we do this together, then the ward will be cleaned sooner.”

After sending word to the cleaning department, Ari only saw these two old women come to the public ward. It was clear to her that the staff members of the cleaning department did not wish to come—— in the end, they sent these two women as they couldn’t ignore Aiden’s request.

“You two are old and the dirt and debris in this ward is too much for you to handle. If I leave it to you, then you will have to work for hours before you can finish cleaning the ward,” Ari said to the two women, whose expressions turned subtle.

They exchanged a look with one another before picking up the mop and squirting the bottle.

The three women started to work, and it did not take long for the ward to be cleaned.

“Thank you, Miss,” one of the patients smiled at Ari with gratitude etched on every inch of his face.

“This is our duty, sir,” Ari shook her head with a small smile. “We didn’t do anything that deserves your gratitude.”

The doctors and nurses including the staff of this hospital were being paid to take care of the patients. She had done nothing special.

“Miss, you are really humble,” Mrs Atkinson said to Ari. She was sitting on the newly changed cover that smelled of sunshine and detergent and sighed blissfully. “No one cares about us vagrants and old guys, I can’t even remember the last time someone came to clean the ward for us.”

As she finished speaking the cleaning staff members looked a bit uncomfortable. It wasn’t as if they did not know that no one was cleaning the public ward.

They knew but——

‘No one cares about this ward, we thought that it was alright to leave it alone,’ thought the plump woman with a frown. She turned to look at the lanky woman, who shook her head.

“We are not wrong. The duty of taking care of this ward is Hayley’s. But she refuses to come down and clean, have you forgotten the fuss that she made earlier when she was asked to come and clean this ward?” The other woman reminded her partner.

She then snorted and said, “In fact we are still better than her, at least we came to clean even though we had so much work today.”

When the plump woman heard the words of her partner, she thought for a while and sighed. Indeed, it wasn’t their fault.

Ari heard their whispers and understood what happened. She did not make any remark on hearing their words, instead, she praised the two women, “Good work ladies, you did an impressive job.” She then added, “Let’s go, I will treat you to coffee.” After a day of hard work, everyone needed a pick me up as a reinforcement.

“There is no need, Miss Harlow,” when the plump woman heard that Ariana was going to treat them to coffee, she refused. “Like you said, we did not do anything special and only did our duty.”

“I am not treating you two because you cleaned the ward,” Ari shook her head and said, “It’s my first day at work and you two helped me. This is my way of showing gratitude.”

When the two women heard Ari’s persistent proposal they couldn’t refuse.

“Then thank you, Miss Ari,”

“Thank you.”

Ari smiled at them, she took out her phone and placed an order for three coffee cups.

It didn’t take long for the coffee to be delivered. Ari shared it with the two women, however now that she was no longer busy—— the bouquet of the hyacinth once again popped into her head.

‘Will they find any clues?’ Ari thought as she had no idea that her case was shut close before it could begin.

With her working hours coming to an end, Ari took her leave. She didn’t see Nicolai waiting for her and understood that he must be busy ——

“Why am I thinking about him?” Was she hoping for Nicolai to drop her at home? The thought alone was enough to make Ari tremble.

She rubbed the back of her neck and muttered, “This is bad.” Even though she instinctively knew that she should keep her distance from Nicolai, Ari was getting too used to him. “This is terrible.”

On the docks, in a large metal box, Nicolai and Kayden were sitting while looking at the man sitting on the other side.

Behind each party, two bodyguards were standing for protection.

“Dominic, are you trying to fucking play with me,” Nicolai had a smile on his face, but that smile was nowhere as bright as it was when Ari was facing him.

It had a crazy and unhinged note to it which could make many men run for their lives.

Kayden looked at his cousin who was smiling like a hyena who was soaring high on crackpot, and turned to look at Dominic. He was slightly surprised that the man was still smiling and hadn’t made a run for it.

“Mister De Luca,” Dominic said with his thick accent rolling off his tongue. “I am not playing with you. Nu huh, I am serious. The money that we decided on is a little too little, you need to add ten more millions.”

“How about I add ten more bullets in your throat?” Nicolai offered with a devilish smile.

As he spoke his hand reached for his gun.
