Chapter 178: The lies for your mind
The silence that stretched over Ariana and Mrs Harlow was simply disconcerting.

Mrs Harlow who believed that her daughter was firmly held in the palm of her hand, was scared silly when she saw the wild look in Ariana’s eyes.

It was raw and seething rage. The kind of rage that would rather burn everything and everyone along with it instead of simmering down.

And it was this look in Ariana’s eyes that made Mrs Harlow believe that her daughter was indeed slipping out of her control.

The notion terrified her.

‘No…she cannot escape,’ Mrs Harlow’s thoughts were scattered just like her emotions. But she knew one thing and that was——

She couldn’t allow Ari to use her mind anymore. If Ari started using her own head, then she would start questioning.

Seeing her going quiet, Mrs Harlow was satisfied, if Ari thought that she could escape from her control she was mistaken.

“This is why I am asking you to go back to the Nelson family. No matter what Noah is willing to accept and keep you, for a woman whose mind is not in the correct place, this is nothing less than a blessing,” Mrs Harlow continued to subtly condemn and destroy Ariana’s confidence by making her sound like she was mad.

Ariana didn’t speak, while sitting on the couch she stared at her hands.

The day when these hands were covered in blood, flashed in front of her eyes before she clenched them tightly.

Was she in the wrong? In the eyes of her mother and everyone else, she was indeed in the wrong.

If she hadn’t done that, if she hadn’t refused, then the boy would be fine but ——

“You can go back, Mom,” Ariana closed her eyes and opened them a second later. She raised her head and stared at her mother, “I will not be going back to the Nelson family.”

The triumphant smile on Mrs. Harlow’s face slipped when she heard the refusal of her daughter.

She stared at Ariana with frustration brimming in her heart and stood up from the floor.

“Don’t be greedy for too much Ariana. Some people are not just destined to have great things in life——”

“What about your daughter then?” Ariana interrupted Mrs Harlow. “Will you ask Ariel to stop badgering Noah? Can she give up the title of Mrs Nelson that she has been chasing for so long?”

Her questions silenced Mrs Harlow.

Ariana curled her lips in a disdainful smile, she said to her mother, “You can leave, Mom. Go back to your home.”

Seeing the continuous refusal of Ariana, Mrs Harlow was frustrated. Her brows were furrowed and she said to Ariana, “Stop being so stubborn! You are sick, so you should listen to me, Ariana. No matter what, staying with Noah is better for you. As a sick person who is not even normal and sane enough, do you think you have the right to ask for love and loyalty?”

“You should be glad that a man is willing to take you into his house.”

“Listen to me, as I am doing this for your own good.”

There was a sound of a crash, followed by Ariana holding a sharp piece of a broken shard of the teacup.

It was placed right against Mrs Harlow’s neck just a few inches away.

“Leave,” said Ari while breathing heavily. “I said leave!”

She seemed stimulated because of the stubborn insistence of her mother. She had told Mrs Harlow again and again that she hadn’t killed anyone, but her mother never trusted her.

Mrs Harlow’s eyes crisscrossed as she looked down at the sharp piece of porcelain.

She took a step back and glanced at Ariana before saying to her, “See, this is what I was talking about. You are not in the right state of mind, Ariana.”

“If you were normal, you wouldn’t have pointed something so sharp and dangerous at your mother.”

Ari, however, pretended as if she did not hear what Mrs Harlow was saying to her. She parted her lips and shouted, “I said—— Leave!”

“Leave me alone!”

“Okay, okay… You are stimulated right now, I will leave alright? I will leave,” Mrs Harlow was worried that Ari would really slash her throat. She raised her hands in the air and then walked out of the room.

However, before leaving she turned to look at Ari while standing at the threshold of the apartment and stated, “You should take my advice, Ariana. It’s for your own good.”
