Chapter 184: In a good mood
“Roman was here,” Zena walked inside the office that belonged to Nicolai. She was holding a small tablet in her hand and looking at the surveillance recording of the man leaving the city.
She looked up from the screen of the tablet and glanced at Nicolai, “Most of the surveillance recording has been destroyed and nothing can be traced presently, do you want me to look into this matter a bit more?” She asked with her hand resting on her hip.
“No,” Nicolai narrowed his eyes while looking at the recording on his laptop. “Roman is one sly bastard, he is smart enough to escape before we could catch him. It indicates that he knew that Phantoms were out of the City.”
Zena understood what he was trying to say, and she hurriedly put her doubts into words, “You mean to say that there is a traitor in our team?”
“Or else?” Nicolai said in a low voice. “Roman appeared in the city when we weren’t here, and he left when we returned. Too many coincidences can only be counted as planned schemes.”
Nicolai took a look at the screen and then turned it off. He stood up from the chair on which he was sitting and then walked around the table.
“Stop looking into the matter of Roman’s visit. You will not find anything now that he has escaped like a coward.”
“Instead start looking for the traitor, I am not used to raising poisonous weeds by my side, they make me feel icky,” Nicolai said as he walked out of the room. “So rip them all out before I do.”
Zena cottoned on from his tone that if she did not get her hands on the traitor, then Nicolai would do it his own way.
And his way consisted of nothing but ripping the heads of every single suspect until he ended up finding the real culprit.
“Where are you going?” She asked when she saw Nicolai walking out of the office.
She did not remember any appointments that Nicolai needed to attend today.
“Are you going to the hospital?” Zena questioned. “If you are, I will suggest you hold that thought, Aiden will not appreciate it if you disturb his lessons.”
“I am not,” Nicolai turned to glance at the woman behind him. “I am in no condition to meet Pallas at the moment.” At that moment, Nicolai was so drunk on rage that he wanted to pummel someone to the ground.
Ari was already terrified of him if he went looking for her when his eyes and head were covered in a red violent haze—— Nicolai shook his head.
His mother taught him to be respectful towards a woman and never raise his voice at her, much fewer hands.
Since he couldn’t trust himself at the moment, it was better to not appear in front of Ariana.
He turned around and opened the door of his office, “If you need me, call me. I will be in the swimming pool.”
“With your fuck buddies?”
“I wish Zen, I wish,” Nicolai sighed as he closed the door behind him leaving his sister confused at his wistful tone.
Zena stayed where she was for a while before exclaiming, “Oh, I forgot to tell him that someone leaked the news of the gunfight.”
On the other side,
Mrs Nelson was smiling sweetly while humming a joyous tune. Her pure white heels clicked on the floor as she walked towards the dining room.
Her sunflower yellow sundress fluttered with every step that she took. Upon noticing the jolly mood of their mother, Noah and Glynn, who were seated at the dining table, looked up.
“Isn’t it a lovely day?” Mrs Nelson asked with a simpering voice as she sat down on the chair that was next to Glynn.
Glynn looked at her mother who was smearing butter on her toast and remarked, “Mom, are you feeling alright?”
Ever since Ari and Noah divorced, her mother was no less angry and upset than Noah. So this sudden change came as a surprise to both of them.
“Of course, I am feeling alright. Why will I not feel okay?” Mrs Nelson questioned as she paused in her action of smearing butter on the toast and turned to look at her daughter. “Unless you did something foolish again, I don’t see the need for me to be upset.”
“I did not do anything,” Glynn rolled her eyes when she heard the accusatory words of her mother. “It’s just that I haven’t seen you smile for a long time, Mom. You have been frowning a lot these past few days.”
“Well of course,” Mrs Nelson turned her attention to the television on which the news channel was running the latest news. She took a bite of her toast and stated casually, “Because of the mistake that you committed, how can I not worry? The matter is related to the sixty per cent shares of the company.”

She then glanced at her daughter. Her eyes filled with disdain as she stated, “I will be a fool if I do not worry about it.”
Was her mother calling her an idiot? Glynn mused silently.
“I am worried as well, Mom,” Glynn immediately refuted her mother.
Mrs Nelson sneered upon hearing the words of her daughter. She took a bite of her toast and said, “If you were worried, then you wouldn’t have done what you did. At least you would have used your head and waited until your grandfather transferred the shares to Noah.”
Every so often Mrs Nelson could not help but question if she brought the wrong child home. How could it be possible for this girl to be so impatient and foolish?
Glynn opened her mouth and closed it again.
She knew that even if she quarrelled with her mother, Mrs Nelson would only reprimand and blame her. Instead of quibbling with her mother, she changed the topic and asked, “Mom, you still haven’t told us why you are in a good mood?”
“That——”
