“This is a common occurrence in cases like yours,” Ariana, however, did not pay attention to the expression of Noah. She was holding her hands in the air as the nurse helped her put on the sanitized gloves.

Once she was done, Ariana turned to look at Noah.

“T.A. patients often deal with injuries that they deem as small but eventually those small injuries turn into bigger ones,” as Ariana spoke she asked the nurse to hand her the X-ray. She carefully studied it with narrowed eyes, when she did not see anything Ariana placed the glasses that allowed her to see even the smallest detail.

Only then did she see the debris that was collected in the upper region of the cut where the skin was still intact.

“Here,” she leaned down and pointed at the top of the cut while handing the X-ray to Noah. “The stone that stuck in your skin after breaking through several layers of skin indeed broke into pieces. Can you see the small piece of stone collected at the head of the cut?”

Noah didn’t see anything until Ari pointed it out. As Ariana was pointing at the X-ray that Noah was holding in his hands, the two of them were naturally very close.

“Then what do you suggest——” Noah trailed off when he turned his head to the side and found Ariana’s face inches away from him.

The two of them stared at one another before Ariana pulled away immediately.

She tucked a strand of her hair and cleared her throat before saying, “I need to make the cut a bit wider to clean the pieces of the stone collected at the tip of the cut,” Ariana explained the procedure. “Don’t worry, we will administer anaesthesia around the region where the cut is to be made. You will only feel a numbing sensation and nothing else, by the time everything is done I will write some painkillers for you to use.”

Noah was still reeling in the heat that he felt when Ariana’s face was inches away from him. He had always thought that she was a plain woman who didn’t know how to dress up.

But now that plain-looking Ariana ——

He felt his heart skip a beat.

“Mister Nelson, are you listening to what I am saying?” When Ariana did not hear Noah’s response even though she had been calling him, she couldn’t help but raise her voice.

Noah snapped out of his daze and then looked up at Ariana before saying, “Let us proceed with what you said.” He would rather not call Ariana doctor Harlow because it made him feel like the two of them were strangers who had nothing to do with one another.

But calling her Ari also did not seem correct, as he had never used that name to call her.

When Ari received his permission she nodded and then turned to look at Brandon before saying, “You should go and deal with the procedures and pay the fees as well.”

Brandon nodded and turned to leave the ward, but as he reached the door of the ward he turned to look at Noah and questioned, “Will you be fine, Mister Nelson?”

The anesthesiologist who was about to administer anaesthesia paused and turned to look at Noah before asking, “Do you have a fear of needles, Sir?”

Even Ariana turned to look at Noah with a questioning glance. If this man was petrified of needles, then it was going to be troublesome. As they would have to continue with the treatment without administering anaesthesia.

Noah, who was suddenly questioned whether he feared needles all because of a foolish question from his assistant was speechless.

“There is no such thing,” he said to the nurse before turning to look at Brandon.”I will be fine you can deal with the necessary procedures.”

Brandon took his leave after being glared at by Noah.

Once he was gone, Ariana shook her head and then waited for the anaesthetic to kick in.

It didn’t take long for the anaesthetic to start working. She pressed on Noah’s head with her fingers and questioned, “Do you feel anything?”

“No,” Noah answered at once and Ariana nodded.

She picked up the scalpel and then made a small incision causing the skin next to the wound on Noah’s forehead to open a bit more.

Ariana then cleaned up the debris inside the wound before sewing the wound cleanly. Throughout the entire process, she was professional and careful.

Noah, who was studying her expression, was slightly stunned. In all honesty, he was waiting for her to make a mistake and was surprised when he heard Ariana say that the entire treatment was a success.

He raised his hand to touch the sewn wound but was stopped by Ariana.

“Please don’t touch your wound,” she said to him. “You haven’t washed your hands, there is a highly likely chance that it would fester and get infected if you touch it.”

“Ariana, I——”

“Mister Nelson, I am done with the procedures and I have paid the fees as well,” Brandon pushed open the door and spoke excitedly. However, he paused when he saw Noah glaring at him even though Noah did not say anything directly, Brandon knew that the man was furious about something.

Was he still upset about the misunderstanding from earlier?

Ariana, on the other hand, was glad that Brandon came to stop Noah from speaking. She did not wish to hear his opinions and how she would fare better at the Nelson house instead of in the hospital.

She turned to look at Brandon and said to him, “Pay attention to the wound for the next three weeks, don’t let it contact water and clean it with the cleaner that I have written in the prescription.”

As she spoke, she handed Brandon the prescription note that she had written earlier.

“If Mister Nelson feels sick or uncomfortable like in case he gets dizzy or feels woozy, bring him back as soon as possible,” Ariana gave a few sets of instructions to Brandon before taking her leave.

She would rather not stay with Noah another second.
