Chapter 194: Having an affair?
“You…” Mrs Nelson was beyond livid when she saw that Ariana was actually refusing to listen to her.

This wasn’t good, this was not at all good.

“Ariana, stop with the tantrum and come back with me. I don’t even want to start on what kind of foolish pipe dream you are living in at the moment. Do you think that you can save someone’s life?” Mrs Nelson scoffed. She rolled her eyes and continued, “Please don’t embarrass yourself and the Nelson family. Come back before everyone finds out what kind of fool you are.”

“You couldn’t even become a good wife. You are seriously trying to reach beyond your limits if you think that you can become a doctor.”

Ariana clenched her fingers at Mrs Nelson’s words, a wave of anger washing over her.

“You do not need to decide for me, Mrs Nelson. Whether I can or cannot become a doctor will depend on my skills. Just because I was not a good wife in your eyes, doesn’t mean that I cannot become a good doctor. Just like how you couldn’t become a good mother despite being a good and popular socialite,” retorted Ariana who was not scared of Mrs Nelson’s fury.

Mrs Nelson could question her over anything and could even blame her how she wanted, but Ariana would not stay quiet upon hearing Mrs Nelson blame her that she was not a good wife.

Three years. She had devoted herself to the Nelson family and now that she finally chose herself, she was being blamed for not being a good wife. Even if Ariana wished to avoid a confrontation, she couldn’t as her heart ached too much.

She gave them three years. Three years of her youth! Was it something that could be ignored?

Even if they couldn’t give her the affection and respect that she deserved, the least they could do was not raise fingers on her when she had done everything for the Nelson family.

“How dare you!” Mrs Nelson was driven crazy. She raised her hand in the air, as her anger got the best of her.

If only she did not need this woman alive, Mrs Nelson thought to herself. She couldn’t kill this woman, but she was unable to keep herself from hitting Ariana.

“What are you doing?”

“Mom!”

Two men rushed to Ariana’s side. One of them was holding Mrs Nelson’s hand while shielding Ariana with his tall stature while the other one was standing next to Mrs Nelson, and he too was holding the very hand that was raised in the air to slap Ariana.

“Noah? What are you doing here?” Mrs Nelson looked at her son with a guilty expression but then her gaze fell on Noah’s wound, and she couldn’t help but scold Ariana again. “What are you doing? Your husband is injured like this, and you are not even helping him.”

Ariana wished to hand a scathing retort, but before she could say anything, Nicolai who stood in front of her pushed her back with his hand, which was holding ——

“Who are you talking to, Mrs Nelson?” Nicolai with a maniacal grin on his face. He seemed as if he came to look for her after drinking a cocktail of some very dangerous illegal substances.

But then again, he always looked like that unless he was hitting someone. Nicolai then resembled a man who was high as a kite.

He tilted his head to the side, “Last I heard, your son was divorced. So unless he and I miraculously got married without anyone finding it out, including myself… I don’t understand whose husband he is.”

Mrs Nelson stared at the man in front of her, she didn’t need to even turn the cogs in her head to remember who this man was because everyone knew who Nicolai De Luca was in the Lonest City.

“Mister de Luca, this is a family matter. Please step aside,” said Mrs Nelson feeling a tad bit annoyed that this man stopped her from slapping Ariana when she was itching to get slapped.

“No can do, Mrs Nelson,” refuted Nicolai with a smug smile on his lips as if he were enjoying the sight of stopping her from getting what she wanted. “My mom taught me to protect a damsel distressed.”

“I am not a damsel in distress,” Ariana said crossly with a furrow of her brows.

“Yes, yes. You are a fucking fighter, Pallas,” Nicolai rolled his eyes and agreed with what Ariana said to him.

All Nicolai was doing was protecting Ariana. But the woman was far too damaged to accept his help and he knew that she must be thinking that there was something suspicious about his sudden decision to help her.

However, the truth was that Nicolai did not even think of anything when he saw Mrs Nelson raising her hand on Ariana. He only wanted to stop the woman from slapping Ariana.

Noah and Mrs Nelson both frowned. While Noah frowned at Nicolai’s endearing way of calling Ariana, Mrs Nelson frowned because she realized that this man was actually pursuing Ariana.

She couldn’t believe her ears. Mrs Nelson always believed that without Noah, Ariana would amount to nothing and this was the reason she never feared anything.

In her eyes, Ariana would, sooner or later, return to the Nelson house as she would be beaten into shape by society and the cruelty of the world.

But now Mrs Nelson felt the control that she was proud of slipping out of her control.

“Ariana, how can you be this shameless! You … you only divorced Noah for a few weeks, and you are already in the arms of another woman?” Mrs Nelson accused Ariana of infidelity. “Are you having an affair with Mister de Luca? Or did you already have one when you were married to Noah?”

The cogs in Mrs Nelson’s head started to turn. If she could prove that it was Ariana whose character had a flaw, could Master Roman blame her?

It was not her fault that Ariana was a woman who couldn’t stand loneliness and sought a man.
