Chapter 199: Despicable tactics
“Madam Nelson asked me to tell you that you need to bring Miss Harlow to the airport at any cost,” Brandon relayed the message that Mrs Nelson asked him to give to Noah.

“I got it. Did she say anything apart from that?” Noah asked as he got down from the bed. His feet padded on the lush carpet as he walked over to the bathing room where he turned on the tap and splashed some water on his eyes.

“Nothing. She did not say or ask anything else,” Brandon knew that Noah was asking him if Mrs Nelson questioned him about his condition. But Mrs Nelson seemed to have forgotten that her son met with an accident.

Maybe Noah’s injury was such a minor thing in her eyes that Mrs Nelson did not even think it was important for her to remember it.

He thought about it for a while and then said, “If it was madam, she would have definitely——”

“Did you not hear when I said that I do not wish to hear about her?” Noah glanced at the man behind him who was bringing up Ariana’s name even when he asked him not to.

Yes, if Ariana were by his side, then she would have definitely cared for his injuries, but she was not here. What was the point of even talking about something that was not going to happen?

“I apologize,” Brandon lowered his head in apology.

Noah waved his hand and said, “You can leave, I want to take a bath. I will not pour water on my injury, don’t worry,” he added when he saw that Brandon was going to say something else.

Only then did Brandon nod and say, “Then I will wait for you, Mister Nelson. There is another meeting that you need to attend.”

Earlier he asked if Noah wanted to reschedule the meeting but Noah refused.

“Don’t worry, I know,” Noah replied as he walked inside the bathing room while Brandon headed out of the room.

Inside the bathing room, Noah took off his clothes, revealing his well-defined body before he slid down the bathing tub which was filled with Lukewarm water. With his feet stretched in front, Noah leaned his head back on the edge of the bathing tub.

“What’s going on with me?” He murmured while covering his eyes with the back of his arm.

He should be glad that Ariana had let go of him without holding on to any lingering attachments. It was a good thing that she was not clinging onto him like a pathetic ex.

With this attitude of hers, Noah was certain that he could get on with his life without any guilty conscience, even getting together with Ariel should not be a big problem with Ariana’s current attitude.

So why was it that——

He felt the urge to rip Nicolai rip by rip just because he dreamed of that man touching Ariana.

It didn’t even happen, and yet Noah felt nauseous and sick.

“This is not good,” Noah pushed his hair back with his dry hand. However, what could be the reason for him to act like this?

Getting possessive over his ex-wife, was laughable.

“It must be because I am protective of her,” Noah refused to believe that he saw Ariana as a woman. Because that would complicate things, and he did not wish to do that as he had a goal to achieve.

He clenched his fingers and curled them tightly such that his fingernails were digging into his palms. “It has to be that case.”

“Achoo!” Ariana sneezed while washing her hands. What was this? Was she coming down with a cold?

She shook her head and then walked away from the large basin once she was done washing her hands.

“Do I have something arranged for today?” She asked as she approached the nurse station.

“It’s the same as yesterday. However, you need to prepare for the meeting and also instead of doing the ABG on Mrs Cartwright, you need to do it on Mr Morris,” Cassidy answered Ariana who frowned and questioned,

“Mr Morris? Isn’t he under Doctor Daphne?” Ariana was new to the hospital, but she still knew some things.

Cassidy looked surprised when she saw that Ariana knew that Mr Morris was supposed to be Daphne’s patient.

“You are right. He is indeed her patient and she should be performing the ABG on him, but she exchanged her patients with you last night,” Cassidy informed Ariana whose brows furrowed even more.

“Without telling me?” Ariana said, causing Cassidy’s face to flush red. She stammered but could not come up with a decent explanation. In the end, she could only apologize and say, “I am sorry, this was decided by Mandy. She didn’t listen to anything that I said to her——”

“It’s fine,” Ariana did not mind these small and petty moves. “But next time, please don’t make such changes without telling me or else I will have to take the matter to Doctor Aiden.”

Her eyes coldly glanced at Cassidy while her lips stayed in a polite smile, “I might be understanding, but I am not a pushover.”

Cassidy, who understood her underlying meaning, stiffened and nodded.

Only then did Ariana pick up the medical materials and charts for treatment before walking away?

She had an excellent idea why Daphne exchanged Mr Morris with her. That man made quite a lot of fuss when it came to the ABG test. Most probably, Daphne wanted to push him to Ariana.

“What a despicable tactic,” Ariana muttered under her breath. Mr Morris was in his sixties, it was normal for him to be scared of needles. But instead of making it easy for him, Daphne shifted the responsibility to her.

Such a person wanted to be a doctor?

On the other side, Mandy who was ‘busy’ returned to the nurse station and questioned Cassidy, “Did she say something?”

“She told me that if someone changed her schedule and patients again without telling her, then she would bring the matter up in front of Doctor Aiden,” Cassidy did not hide anything and relayed what Ariana said to her.

She wanted to bring Mandy from her high horse, as the woman foolishly believed no one would do anything to her.
