Chapter 200: A troublesome patient
“She…she actually said such a thing?” Mandy did not expect the usually soft-looking Ariana to put everything out in the open like this.

“Or else?” Cassidy was rather upset with Mandy, as this woman was the cause of why she had to bear the brunt of the situation that she didn’t cause. “There must be a reason why she was chosen as the student of Doctor Aiden, Mandy. So from next time, try to be a bit more cordial with Doctor Harlow.”

Cassidy paused and added, “It is bad enough that we were reprimanded by Mable. If Doctor Harlow complains about our actions to Mable, then we will be transferred to another department.”

Mandy pursed her lips. She was a senior nurse here and was used to doing things how she liked, now all of a sudden, a rookie was telling her off.

“I understand,” Mandy’s lips were tightly pursed. She clenched her fingers while trying her best to not erupt in the hospital. “From now on, I will be more friendly with that woman.” Though she said that, her voice was filled with discontent.

On the other side,

“Good day to you, Mister Morris,” greeted Ariana as she entered the ward. Pushing the curtain that covered the bed inside the ward to the side, she looked at the elderly man. “How are you doing today?”

The man lying on the bed had curly hair that had gone white with his growing age. His chubby face wobbled as he turned to look at Ariana.

“Are you here to get some of my blood again? If so, I am not giving it up!” Mister Morris strongly refused the idea of continuing with the ABG test.

With his eyes narrowed he looked at Ariana as if she were his mortal enemy. If not for the fact that his body did not allow it, he would have run out of the ward. Not that he hadn’t tried it.

“Please don’t worry, Mister Morris,” Ariana said to the man in a comforting voice. “I will make sure that this will not hurt you at all.”

While Ari coaxed Mister Morris, the nurse behind her shook her head. She had been following Daphne for a long time, and she knew how stubborn Mister Morris could be at the time of the ABG test.

He was one of the major reasons why Daphne changed her patients with Ariana. Not only was he stubborn, but he was also rather foul-mouthed.

“Please give me your hand,” said Ariana as she reached out and held Mister Morris’ wrist, but as soon as she turned the hand of the old man, she saw multiple reddish-purplish marks.

With just one glance, she knew that these marks were caused by needles that were not operated properly.

Normally for ABG, one only needed to puncture the artery deep under the skin. But the thing was that the radial artery was rather thin, and it was difficult to find.

‘Looks like Daphne could not find it, which led to failure in drawing blood,’ Ariana thought while looking at the red and purple spots on Mister Morris’s arm. No wonder he was so reluctant to get his blood drawn.

“You guys are all idiots! Did the doctors of this hospital get their degrees forged? Do you even know how long that woman with glasses stabbed my arm? She couldn’t find the right spot and instead went ahead and drew the blood from the front of my hand!” Mister Morris rolled his eyes as he showed the needle marks at the back of his hand. “You see this? Since she was unable to find the whatever vein, she drew blood from the veins on my hand. Do you have any idea how bad it hurts?”

Though Ariana was not the one who stabbed the needle willy-nilly, she was the one to face the wrath of Mister Morris.

“If I was not bedridden, I would have called the social services in your hospital,” snorted Mister Morris without any hesitation. “That woman with glasses was moving the needle inside my skin like she was sewing a cloth. It was hurting so bad and yet, the woman went ahead and said that I was the one who was overreacting.”

“I understand, but please trust me. I will do my best to insert the needle well,” Ariana felt sweat drop from the side of her cheek. She silently complained about how she was getting a scolding that had nothing to do with her.

Mister Morris studied her carefully before saying, “Then do it in one try. If you cannot draw the blood in one try, then I get a day off from this ridiculous practice.”

“Alright,” Ariana thought about it and nodded.

However, the nurse behind immediately exclaimed, “Doctor Harlow! You cannot agree to such a request.” They needed to perform the ABG test no matter what.

“I know what I am doing, please don’t worry, ” Ariana turned to look at the woman behind her.

The nurse named Ellie felt her headache grow even more intense.

‘Wasn’t she a bit too confident just because she is Doctor Dimitri’s student?’ Ellie couldn’t help but think with a frown.

However, it was already too late, Ariana had agreed to finish the ABG test in one go and there was nothing that she could say to her anymore.

She placed her hand on her forehead and nursed the headache that she was sporting before saying, “Please don’t do this again.”

“Haha, don’t worry, I won’t,” Ariana agreed as she turned to look at Mister Morris. She said to him, “Please move your hand a bit.”

“Are you sure that you will be able to finish it in exactly one try?” Mister Morris asked while eyeing Ariana suspiciously. He did not believe that a woman who was younger than his previous doctor would be able to finish the test in one try.

“Yes, Yes…did we not make a promise already?” Ariana said to the man, only then did Mister Morris stretch out his hand and repeat, “One chance. That’s all.”
