Chapter 201: Escaped patient
Ariana didn’t say anything to the man, instead, she focused her attention on the task in her hands.
‘One go,’ she repeated in her head.
She placed her pointer and middle finger on Mister Morris’s wrist, such that she would be able to notice the palpitations at once. She then placed the needle at a sixty-degree angle before saying, “It might prick a little.”
And without waiting for Mister Morris to say anything, she pushed the needle inside his skin. A second later, as Ari started drawing blood, the syringe slowly started to get filled with dark, red blood.
“It is done,” she announced to both Ellie and Mister Morris before taking out a cotton ball and pouring the cooling liquid on it. “Here, keep it on the spot where I pierced through the needle.”
Mister Morris took the cotton ball from Ariana before praising her, “You are perfect at this.”
“I told you that it will not hurt,” Ariana smiling accepted the praise that was handed to her by Mister Morris.
Mister Morris chuckled. He had to admit that it really did not hurt as bad as it did the last time when Daphne came to draw his blood.
“Please tell me you will be the one in charge of taking my blood from now on, dear,” said Mister Morris with a worried look in his eyes. “I don’t think I can go back to getting pricked left and right since I know that this thing can be done without any pain.”
Ariana simply smiled and said to Mister Morris, “For now I am indeed in charge of doing the ABG for you, Mister Morris.”
When Mister Morris heard her words he cheered up, seemingly looking rather pleased with the fact that he no longer had to deal with an unskilled intern.
While Mister Morris was filled with joy and excitement, Ellie was left shell-shocked as she looked at Ariana, who was done with the ABG test in just one try.
“Doctor Harlow! I am truly sorry about what I said to you before,” said Ellie as the two of them walked out of the ward. The blood sample was already sent to the lab.
“It’s alright, you were only worried about the patient,” Ariana did not take the words that Ellie said to her earlier to her heart.
Ellie was surprised at how humble and polite Ariana was, despite being better than most of the interns. She blinked her eyes while holding her hands in front of her as she clutched onto the register that she was carrying. “Until now, I have followed numerous interns, but none of them were able to perform a decent ABG. I thought that you were being a bit too confident.”
“It’s alright, this is something that happens sometimes,” Ariana smiled at the woman. Of course, she would do it in one go because Ariana was worried about losing control of her hands.
The only reason her body did not lose control at the sight of blood in the hospital was because she knew that she was saving someone’s life. But that did not mean that she was completely fine with it.
She was getting used to seeing and touching blood. However, it would take a bit more time for her to stop the nausea that started to roll in her throat every time she saw blood.
“Then I will go and make rounds——”
“AHHHHH!!!” The sound of someone’s scream broke the silence and peace of the hospital.
Ariana turned to look in the direction from where the sound came from before turning to look at Ellie. She asked, “What’s wrong? Who screamed? Is it a patient?”
Ellie, who knew the owner of the voice all too well, shook her head. “I am afraid, it’s not a patient.”
The two women exchanged a look with one another before rushing towards the source of commotion.
“Someone get this crazy woman off me!” Daphne, who had exchanged the docile and calm patients with the other interns in the hope of, being noticed by the higher up, was now lying messy on the floor.
Her auburn hair was messy and her light almond-brown eyes were filled with sheer terror as she tried to pull away her hand that was being bitten by a woman in a long patient gown.
Her blonde hair which had traces of pink was scattered all over her face, while her blue eyes glared at Daphne with hatred.
“What’s going on?” The commotion was so loud that both Doctor Aiden and Doctor Cole, who were the high-ranking doctors of the thoracic department, were also alerted.
“Daphne?” Cole looked at the woman who was on the floor before turning to look at the patient who was biting her. “Miss Millie?”
He had several questions, but he did not have the opportunity to ask them nor was this the occasion to do so.
He turned to look at the nurses before saying, “What are you watching the show for? Do something to stop this mess. Why have you not administered the diazepam to her yet?”

“We did try to, but we cannot, she is too agitated, Doctor Cole,” one of the nurses spoke. She showed the scratches on the back of her hand. The remaining nurses were in the same situation as her.
Some had their faces scratched while others had their hands and necks scratched.
“Looks like your student did something rather bad for Miss Ashford to react like that,” Aiden remarked while watching the entire drama that was going on.
“Shut up!” Cole glared at Aiden who calmly smiled in return. “Can you not see that this is an emergency, Dimitri?”
“All I see is failure, Verlice,” Aiden shot back smoothly. “You gave the charge of Miss Ashford to your cousin instead of letting me decide who was a better candidate to take care of Miss Ashford, with the promise that you would help her get better. As I…. You said, and I quote, ‘Am a cold-blooded bastard who cannot understand the pain of a delicate woman as Miss Millie.’ Since that is the case should you not have shown a better performance.”
He glanced at Millie and smirked, “Not only did your cousin fail, even your student couldn’t run the tests properly.”
“You…”
“AH!”
