“No, I said no,” even though many took Millie as someone who had completely lost her mind, Ariana knew and understood that Millie was not crazy. At least not how everyone perceived her to be, she knew what was right and wrong and knew how to put forth her feelings and thoughts in words.

People, however, foolishly believed that Millie was not in the right state to decide for herself.

“You heard her,” Ariana turned to look at Daphne whose complexion was ashen.

“You have to be kidding, Doctor Harlow. With the condition she is in, how can she even understand what is right for her” Daphne immediately rebuked, she was just a bit short on calling Ariana a fool for letting Millie do whatever she wanted and liked.

“I agree that her mind is indeed in a fragile state, Doctor Hudson,” Ariana replied calmly. “However, even with her fragile state of mind, she can still tell us what she wants, as we are in charge of taking care of her, don’t you think we should listen to what our patients want first?”

“That’s stupid. If a patient refuses to get an injection, do you want to go along with such foolish wishes?” Daphne scoffed while Ariana smiled.

She shook her head and stated, “I meant to say that you should at least wait for the patient to get in the right state. I never said that you shouldn’t perform the tests on Miss Millie but wait for her until she is prepared. Even when performing surgeries, would you wait for patients to mentally prepare themselves or will you wheel them into the emergency room immediately?”

Daphne had no response to Ariana’s question. She wanted to quibble but was stopped by Cole.

“Enough,” Cole snapped as he glanced at Daphne with a smile on his face. Though he was smiling, one could see that he was not in a good mood.

How could he be when Aiden’s student surpassed him in terms of performance when compared to his student?

Daphne stiffened under his gaze before lowering her head. She clenched her fingers tightly while gritting her teeth.

He then turned to look at Ariana before smiling at her.

“Doctor Ariana, can you please take Miss Millie to her ward? I will arrange your shift in her ward since Miss Millie likes you so much, then you can take care of her with her assigned doctor,” compared to how he spoke to Daphne, his voice was much softer while talking to Ariana.

“But——”

“Don’t worry, the number of patients under your name will not increase. Just take this as doing a favour to me. Millie is not in the right place currently and needs someone to care for her,” Cole said to Ari in a hushed voice. “But her family is rather busy and cannot take care of her.”

“I doubt that I can care for her in place of her family,” Ariana hesitatingly spoke up. She was just an intern who had no relation with Millie, how could she take care of her?

Family, on the other hand, was an integral and important part of a person’s life. How could a stranger even take the place of one’s family?

“It’s alright, Miss Ariana,” Cole said with a beaming smile. “You might not know this, but you resemble Millie’s aunt a little bit.”

“Oh,” so this was why Millie called her aunt?

Ariana hadn’t expected such a thing, she turned to look at Millie who was hugging her arm and her heart softened. She thought for a while before agreeing, “Very well, I have no problem if Miss Millie is fine with it.” Ariana had always wanted to be a doctor. Thus she would always put forth the comfort of her patients instead of her own.

“Excellent!” Cole smiled as he reached out and clasped Ariana’s hand. He brought her hand to his lips and would have pecked the back of her hand if not for Aiden stepping in between.

The man raised his hand and sharply brought it down on Cole’s wrist, causing the man’s grip to loosen.

As soon as Ariana got control of her hand, she immediately hid it behind her back.

“Let’s go, Miss Millie,” said Ariana as she turned to look at the woman standing behind her. “I will bring you to the ward.

Compared to the nurses who wanted to drag her to the ward, Ariana was much kinder, and it only made Millie like her even more. She nodded and followed Ariana.

“You seem jealous, Dimitri?” Once the two of them were gone, Cole turned to look at Aiden.

Aiden closed his eyes and released a sigh. After a moment of silence, he turned to look at Cole and coldly said, “Don’t… drag her into our mess. She has suffered enough in the hands of a scumbag already.” He paused and added, “If you are targeting her because of me, then don’t. She has nothing to do with me.”

Cole only smiled at Aiden without saying anything. He then turned to look at Daphne and the smile on his lips fell swiftly, “Please follow me.”

Daphne shuddered under his gaze, but still nodded and followed Cole as he turned to leave.

Seeing the two leave, Aiden rubbed his forehead. He had a feeling that Cole didn’t take his words to heart.

“It’s going to be really…..”

“Troublesome, this will be troublesome,” Jeremy muttered worriedly as he looked at the VIP exit. He was holding a handkerchief as he wiped his sweat.

Noah glanced at his uncle and said to him, “You are even more worried than me, uncle.”

“Well of course. You have no idea how bad the rage of your grandfather is,” Jeremy sighed as he patted the handkerchief on his forehead. “When your aunt passed away because of my mistake, father lost his temper with me. I still haven’t forgotten it.”

“I shudder to think how he will react once he finds out his favourite——”

“Where is my bubbly bun bun?” Jeremy, who was looking at Noah, who, was looking back at him, stiffened. The two of them turned to look at the man who just spoke.
