Chapter 205: Revealing the truth
Mrs Nelson stared at the entrance of her house and paced back and forth in the living hall. With her fingers twisting and pulling the handkerchief that she was holding in her hands, Mrs Mia looked like she was on the verge of fainting.
“I asked that woman to be here sharp at eight at night and yet, she ignored me,” Mrs. Mia spoke with an annoyed expression. Her eyes filled with disbelief at the thought that Ariana actually ignored her and did not even reply to her.
Glynn, on the other hand, was sitting on the couch looking listless. She had been locked in the punishment room by her mother for two days and was only allowed to come out tonight.
Her fingers were still jittery as she hadn’t recovered from the punishment that she received.
“And stop moving so much!” Mrs. Mia turned to look at Glynn who lowered her head as she flinched under the impact of her mother’s voice. “You are an heiress, so why can you not behave like one? What will your grandfather think if he sees you acting like a cricket?”
“I just moved a little Mother,” Glynn stated as she tried to keep the movement of her hand and legs to a bare minimum.
Mrs Mia wanted to say something more but then the sound of a car coming to a stop echoed inside the living hall, and she swallowed her words back.
Tucking the loose strands of hair that were cascading down her forehead, she turned to look at Glynn and hissed, “Be on your best behaviour, don’t embarrass me in front of your father and grandfather.”
“Yes mother,” Glynn lowered her head even more as she stood up from the couch where she was sitting. Mrs Mia had asked her to be dolled up especially for today’s occasion, with a vibrant red dress that reached past her knees. This was all because her father didn’t like how some women dressed beneath their dignity.
With slow and practiced steps Glynn walked behind her mother and each time she took a step, Glynn felt her heart beat even harder. She knew that now that her grandfather was back, she wouldn’t be able to escape the judgement of her grandfather.
As courageous as she was in the absence of Mister Adrien’s presence, Glynn was as scared now that her grandfather had returned.
“Father,” Mrs Mia greeted the elderly man who walked inside the house with the support of his sturdy cane. “I am so glad to see you return. These days I was distressed, and now that I have seen you, I am filled with gratitude that your surgery was a success, it seems like my prayers have been answered.”
“There is no need for you to worry,” Mister Adrien said as he glanced at his daughter-in-law. Though she was not what he wanted, Mister Adrien could not find any flaw in Mrs Mia who was perfect in everything that she did.
With a complicated gaze, he patted Mrs Mia on the head, “I am doing well, Mia. You can rest easy.”
“Yes,” Mrs Mia said with a sweet smile on her lips. She then turned to look at her husband who looked away without greeting her.
However, Mrs Mia didn’t pay attention to his cold attitude as she did not believe there was anything wrong with him. In her eyes, a successful man was supposed to be like this and as his wife, she should be caring towards her husband who worked hard to bring warm meals to the table whilst providing comfort.
“Glynn, how are you doing?” mister Adrien turned to look at his granddaughter with a beaming smile. However, upon seeing the dark circles under her eyes, he couldn’t help but worry a little, “You seem a bit pale, are you alright?”
“I…I am alright, Grandpa, ” Glynn answered as she peeked at her father who looked at her with disapproval.
The gaze of her father who was fixated on her, cut through Glynn like shards of sharp glass, but she stubbornly believed that he had done the right thing.
Mister Adrien smiled and turned to look behind Glynn before questioning, “That’s surprising, Ari is not here? Is she sick?” He asked worriedly as Ari had never stayed behind whenever he returned home after his surgeries in the past.
Upon the mention of Ariana the living hall fell into silence.
“What’s wrong?” Mister Adrien asked as he looked at the members of his family behind him. “Why are you looking at one another like that?”
Mister Adrien calmly looked at the members of his family who looked back at him.
“What’s going on——”
“I divorced Ariana,” Noah, who knew that there was no turning back at that moment, clenched his fingers as he looked at his grandfather, “I, and she are divorced, which is why she is not with us.”
“What did you say?” Mister Adrien, who was smiling cocked his head to look at Noah. The smile on his lips left slowly as he looked at the man whom he had been proud of all his life. “What do you mean by that she and you are divorced?”
Noah sucked in a breath before releasing a heavy breath, “It’s just as I said Grandpa… I divorced Ariana.”
Mister Adrien turned to look at the rest of the family members, his expression was similar to that of a child who got lost in the middle of the market.
However, when no one refuted Noah’s words, Mister Adrien knew that he was telling the truth. His eyes rolled back in his sockets as Mister Adrien staggered back.
“GRANDPA!”

“There is no need to worry,” Doctor Luciano, the family doctor of the Nelson family, tucked the stethoscope neatly around his neck after he was done observing Mister Adrien.
He turned to look at the Nelson family and relayed, “Mister Adrien was just overwhelmed and nothing else. I will write down the names of some calming medicines which might help, but I still suggest that you try not to excite Mister Adrien unless he gets better.”
“If this happens again, then I fear that the condition of Mister Adrien might get even worse.”
