Chapter 208: Regrets shall be last
-*****************************-
Jordan walked inside the room which was filled with the scent of heavy smoke and the musky smell of the activities that went inside the room a few minutes ago.
With his body bent forward he placed the tray that he was holding in his hands on the table before straightening up and looking at Master Roman who was now lying on the couch.
“I have brought your favourite Château Elegance with a plate of smoked ham, master,” Jordan said to the man who dropped his arm that was covering his eyes.
Master Roman sat straight as he watched Jordan dutifully pour a glass of wine for him.
“Was the woman not good enough?” Jordan asked as he handed the glass of wine to Master Roman who took it.
“Good? She was not even close to the real deal, Jordan. It makes me wonder if you have lost your touch, how could you bring someone so useless to me?” Master Roman asked, his golden eyes flashing with annoyance as he took a sip of the wine.
The bitter-sweet liquid trickled down his throat and he stated, “How are things going in the Lonest city? Did that woman do what I asked her to?”
“Do not worry, our men tell me that Mrs Harlow had approached someone who can help her. It’s just a matter of time,” Jordan replied.
“Time…” Master Jordan stood up, the wine in his glass sloshed because of his movement as he walked over to the other end of the room. “Well, I do assume that we have a lot of time?” He came to a stop in front of a pair of black curtains.
He reached forward and pulled the string with multiple tassels hanging at the bottom on the side of the curtains.
With a whooshing sound, the curtains tucked neatly on the side and a wax statue came into view.
If Ariana were in the room, she would have noticed that the statue looked really similar to her except for the eyes. The statue had gentle green eyes and the woman smiled at the man without any emotions in those gentle greens.
“How are you doing, Cari?” Master Roman said in a loving voice as he reached out and caressed the face of the wax statue. It was as if he were touching the real person instead of a lifeless statue. “I bet you are having a hard time given everything that is going on in your life.”
His lips curled behind his mask as his fingers dropped and curled themselves around the neck of the woman. “If only you had chosen me …nothing like this would have happened.”
Jordan watched his master lose control but did not comment. He knew the obsession that his master had with that woman. Unless he wanted to die, he would never even think of uttering a peep.
Master Roman dropped his hand to his side and stared at the woman whose long rosy pink hair cascaded down her back, while she smiled at him politely.
“I can’t wait…” he muttered as Master Roman raised his hand that held the wine glass and drowned the wine inside of it. “The day when you will see your daughter carrying my child. I wonder if you will go crazy just as I did when I saw you chose that man instead of me? I bet regrets will definitely be the last thing you might feel that day.”
He turned to look at Jordan and ordered, “Get that old man to transfer his shares to his grandson as soon as possible.”
Only then would he be able to return to the Lonest City if not he would have to continue hiding here like a little rat.
“I understand.”

The sun broke through the horizon, the golden rays weaved through the greenery like a work of art itself. The subtle golden glow scattered over the tall buildings and the streets as the hustle and bustle of the city returned.
The Nelson family sat around the dining table. An awkward silence stretched over the dining table, usually, the meals of the Nelson family were filled with silence but this time around, it was filled with such a suffocating silence that it was nearly impossible to breathe.
Only the sound of the servants putting down the dishes on the table echoed along with the sound of cutlery.
Mr. Adrien sat at the head of the table as he picked up a spoonful of porridge and brought it to his lips.
“You know Noah…” Mister Adrien spoke after eating three spoonfuls of porridge. “Everyone thought that Ariana did not deserve you, but I have always believed that she is too good for you.”
Those words put a halt to the actions of every person sitting at the dining table.
“Grandfather, how can you even say that ?” Glynn, who did not believe that there was any redeeming quality in Ariana, immediately spoke with a reproachful tone. “Brother Noah is better than Ariana in every way possible. Compared to him——”
“I do not wish to hear you condemn Ariana when you are having a hard time finishing your studies. Which year are you on? Fifth? Sixth?” Mister Adrien spoke with a light tone causing Glynn’s face to turn red.

“It’s fourth, Dad,” Jeremy answered as he knew that if he did not answer the question of his father, he would continue insulting Glynn.
“That’s right. The fourth year for a course that had the duration of only three years,” Mister Adrien sneered coldly. “Compared to you, Ari finished her medical studies with flying colours. That too without the support of her family. Do you think you are in a place to look down on her?”
Glynn’s face flushed as she lowered her head.
“Grandpa,” Noah glanced at his sister who had been silenced by Mister Adrien. He then turned to look at his grandfather before saying, “This is not a big issue.”
“Of course, it’s not a big issue,” Mister Adrien sneered. He took a bite of his porridge before licking his lips and saying, “I think that you all have grown up. Since that is the case then just do what you want.” He stared at the dishes in front of him.
Everyone in the dining hall heaved a sigh after hearing his words. However, then they heard Mister Adrien say, “And I will do what I want.”
