Ari closed her eyes. She wondered how long it would take for the ambulance to arrive. She turned to look at Arabella, who seemed smug by the words that she had said to her.

“There is indeed another reason why I am doing it,” answered Ariana, her actions and tone much more elegant than the women who stood in front of her, even though it was them who came from a much wealthier background and family than Ariana.

Seeing how unfazed Ariana was, Arabella found her even more unsightly. She still hadn’t forgotten how this woman punctured the four tyres of her car, it was a limited edition one too.

“Oh, is that so? Then pray tell us what reasons you have?” Arabella asked with a little mocking laugh.

Ariana smiled at the woman before replying, “Kindness. It doesn’t take much for a person to be kind. You should try it sometimes as well, Miss Arabella. Being kind wouldn’t cost you anything in fact, you will only receive the blessings of those whom you help.”

Her response brought a flush to the cheeks of the women who were condemning and mocking her.

“You have a way with words, Miss Harlow,” Arabella’s lips twitched as she clenched her fingers and unclenched them.

“Thank you, plenty of people say that,” Ariana responded with a smile. She then said, “Now if you will excuse me, I need to take care of the patient.”

With that, she ignored the flushed and angry gazes of the women who were looking at her as if Ariana couldn’t see them in the first place and turned her attention to Josephine who was vomiting while lying on the side.

Ariana tipped the woman’s chin up lest she got choked on her vomit. She even wiped the drool that trickled down Josephine’s chin to her clothes.

“Gosh, look at that, she is even wiping her drool,” one of the women gagged with her hand held in front of her.

According to these women, the act of serving someone and cleaning their waste was simply disgusting even if Ariana was doing it for the sake of saving a life.

“Let’s go,” Arabella scrunched her nose as she looked at the sight in front of her. The sour and rotten scent of human waste and bile flooded her nose causing her to curl her toes in disgust. “It seems like Miss Harlow has everything in control.”

The four women turned on their feet and walked away. The rest of the crowd was also about to disappear when the sound of an ambulance siren echoed in the surrounding area.

“Doctor Harlow, you are here already?” One of the male nurses stepped down from the ambulance and looked at Ariana who was helping Josephine.

“Yes, I live here,” Ariana did not go into detail as she said, “Please bring her to the hospital as soon as possible she is suffering from alcohol poisoning and needs her stomach pumped as soon as possible.”

The two male nurses’ eyes widened as they hurried out of the ambulance and then brought the stretcher to take Josephine with them to the hospital.

“Mama! Mama!” The little boy who was silently crying tugged on the clothes of his mother when he saw that some strangers were taking his mother away.

“Theo, they are here to take your mother to the hospital,” Mister Asensio, who knew the boy, tried to comfort him kindly.

However, the boy kept crying while holding Ariana’s hand.

“Doctor Harlow, please come with us along with the child,” James said to Ariana. “Like you said, we do not have the time to waste. Every second counts in situations like this.” They had various responsibilities inside the ambulance. They did not have the time to babysit a child distressed.

Ariana hesitated for two seconds before nodding.

“Alright.”

With Ariana agreeing, it did not take long for the nurses to bring Josephine to the ambulance. The driver of the ambulance was a skilled man, it did not take more than twenty minutes for them to arrive at the hospital.

“Yes, the patient is not showing any signs of waking up, she is delirious and cannot understand anything. I believe she drank too much alcohol,” the nurse relayed everything to the doctor as they wheeled Josephine away.

“Mama,” the boy cried as he stared at his mother being taken away. He tried to follow his mother but was stopped by Ariana.

“Theo, your mother is going to get her injuries treated,” Ariana said to Theo, she crouched down in front of him and comforted him, “But don’t worry, she will be fine, the doctor uncles of this hospital are really nice, and they will bring your mother to you unscathed.”

“Really? Mama is going to come back?” The poor boy was heavily traumatized by the things that he saw earlier.

‘Theo…mama…mama can’t do it anymore. You understand me, right? No one can understand your mother…but you will right? You are a good boy,’ his mother had taken his hands in hers and said those words to him.

So even when Theo was scared, he had followed his mother.

“Yes,” Ariana answered with a soft smile. “Since your mama is taking care of her injuries, we should take care of yours as well.”

“I am not hurt,” the boy shook his head.

“Does it hurt here?” Ariana asked as she reached out and touched where the heart of the boy was, when she touched the spot, Theo pursed his lips he stayed quiet for a whole two seconds before replying, “It feels a bit strange and weird.”

Ariana smiled upon hearing his response. She said to him, “This is why you need to see a doctor.” Back then, when she was a child, everyone dismissed her emotions and outbursts. Including after that incident ——

“Let’s go,” Ariana stood up and stretched out her hand in front of Theo. “I will take you to a nice doctor uncle, he always keeps candies with him.”
