Chapter 228: An apology too late
The one person who had catered to all of Mister Noah’s likes and dislikes was none other than Ariana. With her taking care of Noah, the servants had an easy time, they only needed to listen to Ariana, and they would know what Noah wanted and desired.
However, as soon as Ariana was gone. The servants of the Noah family had no idea how to deal with Noah’s picky palate. They were used to dealing with picky eaters, but Noah was simply beyond the line of just being picky.
He would scold the chef if there was even an extra pinch of salt in his soup. As Noah chased after perfection and things that he was used to, he would not accept anything that differed from normal.
But for the servants to learn his palate after Ariana’s departure, it would take some time. Noah however, was not willing to give them the time frame that they needed.
“What are you looking at my face for now?” Noah snapped at the man who didn’t even look away after getting scolded and stood in front of him like some stubborn mule. “Get out!”
“Y—Yes,” the servant turned on his feet as if he had been granted amnesty and left the greenhouse. If possible, he really wanted to resign from this job.
Noah rubbed his forehead which was close to exploding and looked at the servant who was running away. He wanted to call the servant back, but the pain in his head was close to bursting, and he couldn’t even muster the strength to scream at the servant any more.
Instead, he reached forward and pressed the bell button that sat on top of the table. This button was connected to the office of the butler of the Nelson family. With one ring, Harrison was supposed to come running.
As Noah expected, Harrison came running two minutes later. With his immaculate suit that was slightly ruffled, Harrison bowed in front of him.
“Is there something that you wish to say to me, Master Noah?” He asked with his head lowered in a low and respectful bow. One of his hands was resting on his chest where his heart lay.
“What kind of servants have you hired, Harrison?” Noah questioned the man with an annoyed voice, his brows furrowed in annoyance. “They do not know how to follow simple orders. I have been asking for a mug of coffee for more than two hours, and they have turned up here with nothing but trash in the cups that they have brought.”
“I bet the rainwater on the side of the street tastes better than the coffee that they have made, Harrison.”
‘When did you with your picky tongue taste the rainwater on the side of the street?’ Harrison thought in his head while he continued to smile on the surface.
“I understand your troubles, Master Noah,” Harrison stated with a soft smile on his lips. “However, there is no need to worry. From tomorrow onwards, the food and beverages that you prefer will be made according to your palate.”
“Why? Have you suddenly hired a Michelin chef?” Noah questioned Harrison, who smiled at his tetchy tone.
“Not at all, Master Noah. I am afraid that even a Michelin chef cannot satisfy your picky palate. Earlier in the afternoon when we were cleaning the room where Miss Harlow lived before your divorce…we found a few things,” Harrison was very subtle when he brought up Ariana’s name but not according to Noah.
For some reason, Ariana’s words kept playing in his head like some broken record and those words tormented him. Every time he tried to breathe, those words would constrict his windpipe.
“What things?” Noah questioned. Was that woman playing with him? She was so confident when she told him that his last name was nothing special, but still left some things to haunt him.
“Like a diary which is filled with your likes and dislikes. There are a few ties and mufflers that seemed to be knitted by Miss Harlow…there are also some accessories like brooch and cuff links,” Harrison answered promptly.
Noah clenched his fingers as he snapped, “Who asked you to clean that room?” He did not recall asking the servants to clean the room.
“It was the old Master,” stated Harrison without batting an eye. “He was the one who asked the room to be cleaned. He said that regardless of what and how you treated Miss Harlow, she would not be cruel enough to abandon you like you did…we were rushing as well, so we obliged with the orders.”
Noah felt his cheeks sting. It was as if someone had slapped him. Not once but twice.
‘I loved you, isn’t that why you took me for granted?’ Those words echoed in his head and Noah stood up from the chair, his movement caused the char to fall on the ground with a bang.
“Master Noah?” Harrison called out to the young man, but Noah did not respond. He continued walking out of the greenhouse, the petals of flowers swirled behind him as he opened the door and stepped out.
Seeing him leave, Harrison shook his head.
“What is the point of regret when it’s too late? Every late apology is better left unsaid.”
Noah did not know the thoughts of his butler, he continued marching down the mansion where he turned and climbed the stairs which led him to the master bedroom.
As soon as he pushed open the doors of his and Ariana’s master bedroom, he saw a few maids arranging a few contents inside the many boxes that were scattered all over the room.
“Master Nelson,” one of the maids stood up when she saw Noah entering the room. Once she stood up, the rest of the maids also straightened up their backs.
“Get out,” Noah ordered, and the maids left one by one.

Noah waited for them to leave and once the door of the master room was shut close, he walked over to the table where an old diary was kept and picked it up.
