Chapter 234: Rude, petty and arrogant
Nicolai stared at the woman who had clamped her lips shut and snorted inwardly. For once, this woman was willing to listen to him, it was a good thing because if she had continued to raise objections, he would have left her behind.

Really. As for whether he would have returned, that was another matter to be discussed, but he would have certainly left her behind.

“Loop your arm around my neck,” Nicolai said to Ariana as he bent down to scoop her up.

As the only heir, he needed to learn how to take care of their family business, so of course he attended college and studied his ass off. What did this woman mean by saying those words?

“No. I meant,” Ariana realized that she had said something rude again and apologized , “I am sorry, that was not my intention. I was just surprised that you still remembered something from middle school.”

“I have a great memory unless I am drunk or have a bone or two broken,” Nicolai told her as he scooped her up from the ground and Ariana immediately hugged his neck.

Her actions brought the two of them even closer.

Nicolai turned to look at Ariana who was in his arms and Ariana noticed that despite his harsh and aggressive demeanour, he was a very good-looking man.

His beard was trimmed neatly, and even his long hair was gelled and styled.

He smelled of musk, bergamot, and smoke.

He smelled of warmth.

Their breaths mingled as the cold wind rustled past them. The fringes on Nicolai’s forehead fluttered and so did Ariana’s rosy locks.

The two of them stayed like that for a while, with their eyes fixed on one another, before Nicolai curled her lips and crudely said, “What? Did you realize that I am a fine specimen to fuck?”

And there he goes.

Ariana rolled her eyes this time, she pushed his face away and said, “You have boogers at the corner of your eyes.”

“What?” Nicolai let out a startled yelp, he immediately wanted to take a look at his face, but he couldn’t possibly drop Ariana.

He looked around before taking off, like his feet had boosters attached underneath them.

“Slow down!” Ariana let out a startled yelp that matched Nicolai’s. However, the man was rushing to see his face presently, so how could he stop?

“Woof!” Timmy chased after them.

The three of them rushed down the path, without a single stop. Ariana hugged the man’s neck as she was afraid of falling, while Nicolai enjoyed the feeling of her arms wrapped around his neck.

He would have enjoyed it even more… If she was naked and was in his bed while crying out his name.

However, the thrill soon faded when he saw his reflection in the mirror inside Ariana’s apartment.

There…there were really boogers at the corner of his eyes.

Nicolai banged his fists on the wall, on either side of the mirror.

“Damn it!” He was in such a hurry that he completely forgot about cleaning the boogers from the corners of his eyes. He showed such an appearance in front of the woman whom he wanted to take to his bed?

“Don’t break my mirror,” Ariana said to him reproachfully as she sat on the couch. “And can you get the first aid box from the cabinet? If this continues you will make two fist-sized holes in my apartment’s wall.”

“I am getting it,” Nicolai hurriedly wiped the boogers from the corner of his eyes before taking the first aid box out of the cabinet.

He walked back to the living room before coming to a stop next to Ariana.

He sat down on the couch before taking her foot and pulling it in his lap.

“I can do it,” Ariana began but was interrupted by Nicolai, “This needs to be set as it’s twisted. Can you do that?”

Of course not, she was good with scalpels but she had no idea how to set bones.

“I thought so,” Nicolai snorted before putting his fingers in certain angles. “This is going to hurt a little.”

“Wait——-Ahhhh!” Ariana screamed as Nicolai twisted her foot to the right, setting the bones in the right place. Though it did not take long and was a rather small process, Ariana still ended up seeing stars in front of her eyes.

“God, woman, you scream so loudly,” Nicolai had his eyes scrunched up as he leaned away from Ariana, whose temper suddenly rose, and she kicked him in the thighs.

“Well, I am sorry that I screamed because I was not given time to be prepared,” she snapped at him. Though her foot was no longer aching, it was stinging.

“Oh yeah? I am sorry that I even tried to help you!” Nicolai was affronted when he saw that the woman kicked him. She hadn’t even apologized to him for calling him rude names, and he still helped her, what did he receive in the end? A kick?

“I swear you are so petty, annoying, and rude! I don’t even know why I even bothered.”
