Chapter 240: Shot in the head
“You are lying Regina would never do such a thing,” Maximus, though in a drunken haze, refused to believe that his sister was going to abandon him. “Stop …stop trying to fool me and let go. I am the brother-in-law of your father! If you harm me, your father will never forgive you. You know how much he adores Regina.”

“Again? Seriously dude, do you think I care about what that man thinks?” Nicolai said, with a roll of his eyes. “If you were so scared of death then you should have thought twice before joining hands with the Serpents.”

“He is such a coward, I don’t think he planned to join the Serpents. Most probably it was Regina’s, she must have foolishly thought that she might take us a peg down or two if the Serpents were to take over,” Kayden hummed as he turned to look at Maximus. “Isn’t that the case?”

Maximus did not say anything.

“You can continue guessing, but I will never tell you why I did it, if you are here to find the reason then——-”

Nicolai sighed and said, “I am sorry, called you my bitch, I didn’t know you would take it as my permission to moan and groan. I can’t care less about your reasons.” He dropped the man on the floor and Maximus groaned.

“Undo his rope,” he said to Kayden who rolled his eyes but did as he was told. He had a fair idea of what was going to happen next but had little sympathy for the man.

“Now,” once the ropes were untied, Nicolai looked at the man who was staring at him warily. “We are going to play a game. I will count to five and you will run. If you can run out of the bar, I will not chase after you.”

“I am showing you little mercy on the account of my sperm donor,” said Nicolai with a smile as he took out his gun. “But if I shoot you before you run out, then you will be telling me the address of the hideout of the Serpents. If you don’t tell me once, then I will shoot you again. This will go on until either you run out of the bar or I shoot you dead, what do you think? It’s a fair game right?”

Maximus did not believe that it was fair but was there any other option in front of him?

Once he was free, he did not bat an eye and quickly ran out of the private room. The mad hound was after him, he would be foolish to stay in the same building as him. What was more, Maximus understood that even if he died today, Nicolai might be able to clear his involvement because he shook hands with the Serpents first.

Every time Nicolai counted a number, Maximus felt his heart shudder. His thick legs shook like jelly while his many chins under his first chin wobbled as he tried to run as fast as he could.

A loud bang followed by a scream echoed in the dilapidated bar. The woman and the manager of the bar ran out of the building at once.

“Nicolai! My sister will not let you off!” The man struggled while using all his strength to get up. He was shot in the back of his left leg and was trying his best to drag his body up.

“What wonderful ambitions, ” Nicolai remarked with another shot at the back of Maximus’s right leg. Blood pooled around the body of the man as he tried to scramble forward. “I am so ready to see what your sister is going to do. Will she shoot me in the back?”

“AHHHHHH!”

Bang, a bullet embedded deep in the back of the man.

“Or the shoulders?”

“AHHH!”

Bang. Bang.

“Let me go! Ah! Let me go!”

“Maybe the spine?”

Another shot rang out in the bar.

“Hmm, looks like you are pretty weak for such bold ambitions,” Nicolai said with a grin as he aimed the notch of his gun at the forehead of Maximus who was staring at him in horror. “Never mind, what’s wrong with some bold ambitions? “She egged you to help the Serpents, kidnapped an innocent girl and caused her life to be ruined, why? Because she wanted to live her life perfectly by taking the Phantoms down. All the while keeping her reputation pristine and clean. This is not a mistake but a crime, unfortunately, your sister’s involvement is close to none, so I cannot send her to prison, but you know what? I can still make her suffer by sending your head to her.”

“From the next time, she will think twice before pulling a stunt against us.”

“T——That has nothing to do with me,” came the hoarse words from the man and Nicolai smiled.

“The day you agreed to join hands with those bastards, you have something to do with them,” Nicolai stated and before the man could say anything, he pulled the trigger and shot him dead. “Take his phone out, he must have kept some records of the incident in his phone, given my understanding of him.”
