Chapter 245: Letting loose
Ariana stared at the man, whose complexion started to change. All she cared about was passing her internship and becoming a full-fledged doctor, thus no amount of money could ever buy her.
Seeing that the woman was not listening to him, Mister Sandler gritted his teeth.
“Let’s go,” since Ariana was not willingly signing the consent form, there was nothing that he could do about it. If he wanted to clean up after himself, he needed a doctor who would sign the form after accepting the bribe lest he got into legal trouble.
Mister Sandler wished to get rid of the trouble in his hand and not to get another one added on top of it.
The woman flinched under his commanding voice but did not ignore his order. Ariana’s brows furrowed when she saw how the man was treating the woman, but given the complexity of their relationship, Ariana did not interfere too much.
Mister Sandler stepped forward, and the woman followed him, ready to leave the office where Ariana worked. But before they left, Ariana asked, “Wait, who referred me to you?”
“It was a woman, one with glasses. Do you think I would have come here if not for that woman saying that you will agree to my request?” Mister Sandler scoffed as he opened the door and walked outside.
The man stepped out of the room, leaving Ariana alone with her thoughts. Her eyes narrowed as Ariana stood up from her chair, she had the feeling that she knew who it was who referred her to Mister Sandler and why.
With her boots clicking on the floor, Ariana walked out of the office. As she was rushing, she did not close the door and left it once after she closed it.
She walked in a set direction as if she were a woman on a mission.
“Doctor Harlow, are you going somewhere?” Sawyer, who was one of the resident doctors, and also Ariana’s only friend in the hospital, saw her marching down the corridor and stopped Ariana. “Where are you heading to?”
“I am going to look for Doctor Daphne, there is something that I must speak to her about,” Ariana replied with a smile while hiding the complicated emotions in her eyes.
“Doctor Daphne? I saw her down at the internal medicine department. If I am not mistaken, she was there to discuss the internal medicine used in the treatment of typhoid with Doctor Camilla,” Sawyer told Ariana about Daphne’s whereabouts as she did not want Ariana to waste her time by looking for Daphne at the office where she usually stayed with Doctor Cole.
“Thank you, Doctor Sawyer,” Having found out that she was looking for Daphne in the wrong place Ariana turned on her feet and started walking down the internal medicine department.
Sawyer watched Ariana leave and shook her head.
“It seems like Daphne did something again,” she sighed. Sawyer was not surprised as Daphne had always gotten into trouble in one way or another.
“Thank you for helping me, Doctor Camilla,” on the other side of Internal Medicine, Daphne smilingly thanked an elderly woman who had handed her several books on internal medicine after careful consideration.
Doctor Camilla smiled at Daphne and said, “There is no need for you to thank me. I am always more than eager to help new interns like you. After all, you will be carrying the fame of our hospital to greater heights.”
“Of course,” Daphne raised her head with a smirk on her face. She agreed with what Camilla said as she indeed believed in a future where she and interns like her shall make the rules in this hospital.
With a flick of her wrist, Daphne tucked the strand of her hair behind her ear. She said to Camilla, “Then I will be taking my leave.” Her chin raised in the air haughtily.
Unbeknownst to her as soon as she left the Internal Medicine department, one of Doctor Camilla’s students could not help but say, “Why did you help her so much, teacher? She doesn’t seem to care about the help you have given her, nor does she look grateful.”
“We do not need to care about such things,” Doctor Camilla said to her students. “As long as she can treat her patient and is ultimately the patient who is going to benefit. There is no need for us to care about the rest.”
“Don’t forget that we are here to work hard for the patients and not for ourselves alone.”
While Doctor Camilla scolded her students, Daphne was headed to her office and she shared with Doctor Cole. But these days Cole stayed in another office which gave Daphne the freedom to use the office how she liked it.
“As long as I can treat this patient properly, Cole will have to admit that I am just as skilled,” a few days ago because of that crazy woman, Daphne was embarrassed in front of others.
However, if she were to treat this patient easily, Daphne was certain that everyone would forget that small slight on her part.
With her heels clicking on the marble floor, Daphne arrived at the storehouse where the used and broken equipment of the hospital was kept.
As this place was too silent, it was slightly spooky.
Daphne glanced around at the silent corridor before clearing her throat and continuing to walk. However, just as she reached the end of the corridor, someone caught her wrist and pulled her back.
“AHH!” Daphne screamed in fright, as she had not expected something like this to happen.

“You are screaming far too loud,” Ariana remarked as she looked at Daphne who was screaming as if she were about to be murdered.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Daphne turned around and looked at Ariana, who at some point had arrived behind her.
“Goodness! What is wrong with you?” Daphne rubbed her bosom. “You scared me. What are you doing by jumping on me like this?”
“This should be my question. What were you thinking by sending Mister Sandler to me?”
