Chapter 249: Let me teach you little baby
“Is something the matter?” Nicolai asked the man who had stopped the two of them from entering the bar. This was the first time that he was stopped from entering somewhere.
However, the man did not answer and simply looked at Nicolai with a stern gaze.
“Money? Tip? Is that it?” Nicolai spoke as he took out a hundred dollar bill from his pocket and waved it in front of the guard. “Here, I am rushing so I will be generous.”
But the man didn’t move an inch, he stood in front of him like he was some fucking door guard of the underworld or some shit.
“Listen, here you little fucker——”
“James? Oh my god, is that you?” Just as Nicolai was about to drill his fist in the face of the guard, the woman next to him spoke up.
Stunned, Nicolai turned to look at Ariana, who was now looking at the guard on the left with a smile on her face.
“It is you, isn’t it?” Ariana asked the guard.
“Glad you remembered me,” James, the guard spoke with an eye roll. “I thought that you completely forgot about me.”
An embarrassed smile appeared on Ariana’s face as she said to the man, “It is not that, it has been so many years that it took some time to recognise you.”
“Little girl, you are really forgetful,” James snorted as he reached out and placed his hand on Ariana’s head and ruffled her hair.
“Who are you?” Nicolai intervened before James or whoever this man was, got any more touchy with Ariana.
James dropped his hand to the side, with his buff build, the man was tall and stronger than most men but not more than Nicolai. However, as he stood on a raised platform, James was the one looking down on Nicolai.
Something that did not sit well with Nicolai given that the man was acting all chummy with Pallas.
“I am James, her brother’s good friend,” James pointed at Ariana and introduced himself. “But who are you and why have you brought Ari to this shady place?”
He narrowed his eyes and questioned, “What are your intentions? Listen to me boy, give me a proper answer because whether I should call Aaron will depend on your answer.”
Nicolai blinked and so did Ariana, an imaginary crow flew above their heads when they realized what had happened. Gathering herself, Ariana immediately said, “You are mistaken, James. We are not here to do something, we are here to speak with someone and nothing more.”
“That’s right, do you think that I will bring my woman to sleep in a place like this?” Nicolai said to the man, whose eyes flashed and Ariana pinched the man on his arm.
“You are not helping, Mister De Luca,” Ariana hissed.
She turned to look at James and said to him, “I assure you that we are not here to do anything like that, James. You know me.”
But James stared at her for two more seconds before he released a sigh. He said to Ariana, “I am still telling Aaron about this though, I think he should know about the company you are getting close to.”
James had seen a lot of bad guys and Nicolai seemed to be painted red, which was the sign of danger.
Nicolai had an affronted expression on his face, while Ariana was helpless. She did not expect to run into her brother’s friend in a place like this, and could only accept her fate.
“Alright, can we go in now?” Nicolai asked with an annoyed tone, not liking how he was claimed and classified as —— ‘certain company.’
James glanced at the man before saying to him, “No funny business.”
As he spoke, he lifted the golden hook and pulled open the thick red rope that was placed in front of the door.
“You better hope,” Nicolai began as Ariana started dragging him inside. “—— that we never run into one another.” Drag. “——or else I will change that face card of yours. Do you think that I——-“? More dragging. “—— Someone you can offend? I will show you what kind of company I am!”
Thankfully, Ariana dragged the man away or else she was certain that he would have fought with James then and there.
The inside of the bar was dimly lit with purple and red lights. The entrance of the bar was long and narrow with a carpet spread on the floor. On the side was a wooden reception where a woman was standing.
“Good afternoon,” the woman waiting on the customers greeted them from behind the reception. She was tall and was dressed in a mini black dress that showed off her long legs. “Are you here to book a room or to have a drink?”

Nicolai glanced at the woman and took out his black card.
He placed it in front of the woman before saying, “Collin Sandler, get us a table next to him as close as possible.”
The woman stared at the black card before smiling, “Right away sir.”
Ariana did not see the amount at which the woman ran the credit card. But she knew that it must be rather high, as the woman called for a server right away after handing Nicolai his card.
“Madam,” the server called out as he greeted the woman behind the reception.
“Table thirty-nine. Take this gentleman and his company there, make sure to serve them the finest wine and snacks,” the woman said to the server, who nodded.
“Please follow me,” the server turned and said to Nicolai and Ariana.
The two of them followed the server, Ariana’s eyes flickered left and right as she searched for Mister Sandler and when she found him, her heart settled down.
At least they did not come to the wrong place.
The server led them to the table that was right next to Mister Sandler, but the couch was facing the other side and the entire corner was covered with darkness, which meant that they were perfectly hidden.
It was a perfect spot to gather information.
