Chapter 251: The History of Hyacinths
**************************
“You must be joking, Mister Nicolai. For this woman, you want to offend me and my family——”
“Collin, did you lose your mind somewhere?” Nicolai held a disapproving look on his face. “Do I look like the kind of person who needs to worry about offending your family?”
Collin’s face flushed with embarrassment, and his embarrassment intensified even further when he glanced around him and noticed that his friends were looking at him.
Noticing the contemptuous expressions and mocking smiles targeted at him, Collin glared at Nicolai and Ariana. He said, “Mister Nicolai, do not forget that our family and yours have held a special cooperation for years. Do you want to ruin it for a woman?”
Nicolai stared at the man who was threatening him, at first, he simply gazed at Collin, but then a second later he burst out laughing. His laughter turned louder and louder, as he was so amused by the words of this stupid man that Nicolai didn’t know how to put it in words.
He clapped his hands as he remarked, “You speak as if my family will stop functioning without yours.”
“It might not stop functioning, but my family still holds an important position in your business dealings,” Collin reminded him. “Do you still want to cause trouble between our families because of a woman?”
“You are wrong,” when Nicolai took a step towards Collin, the man immediately stepped back cautiously. “My ambitions are way higher for them to be ruined by a woman,” he calmly stated as his hand shot up and curled his fingers around the neck of Collin, “However, for someone like you who is used to pulling sneaky moves behind others’ back… I wonder when you might stab me in the back.”
“Mister Nicolai, you are being foolish. You will be cutting off all the profitable relations with my family and paying for your actions. How dare you look down on me, I am——-”
Nicolai pushed the man to the ground, and the force that he applied was not light either. Collin stumbled and fell to the ground with a thud. He groaned in pain as his back hit the front of the couch.
“Tsk, and here I thought that you were rather strong with how casually you were throwing out threats,” Nicolai mocked Mister Collin. His lips curled in a mirthful smirk. “We will end this matter here, Mister Sandler. Of course, if you want, we can continue escalating this fight until one of us dies”.
“Mister Nicolai,” Collin continued groaning while trying to get up from the floor.
But Nicolai was not in the mood to hear his quibbling. He tore the consent form into bits and pieces before hurling them at the man’s face. He warned the man, “Don’t even think about retaliating. Like a good little boy, go back home and stay put. This matter, let’s end it here.”
He turned on his feet, ready to step out of the bar with Ariana. But then stopped and turned to look at the man still sitting on the floor. “You are right, you are one of the mice that our family supports but don’t forget that rats like you, can be found anywhere.”
The two of them stepped out of the bar, neither of them spoke as Ariana was lost in her thoughts while Nicolai had nothing to say at the moment. They went to catch a mole and ended up catching a rat.
After the two of them stepped out of the bar, Ariana turned to look at Nicolai and said to him, “I am sorry, because of me…it seems like Mister De Luca got into trouble.”
Collin Sandler was not the stalker who sent the bouquet of hyacinths. He did sneak inside the office, but that was to snap a picture of her signature to forge.
“There is no trouble at all, Pallas,” Nicolai started walking down to where his car was parked and Ariana walked right next to him. “It is, in fact, a good thing. People like Sandler are too ambitious. If they are not restrained in time, they will forget where they stand.”
He turned his head over his shoulder and said to Ariana, “It wasn’t a useless trip, either. At least we stopped you from being locked up in a prison.”
“That’s true,” Ariana sucked in a breath when she thought about how she almost ended up in big trouble. If she had not chased after Mister Sandler, she wouldn’t have found out that the man had forged her signature.
“Now, do you have to tell me something, Pallas?” Nicolai asked Ariana. He had his arm placed on top of the door of the car that he had already pulled open.
“What are you talking about, Mister de Luca?” Ariana understood what Nicolai was saying to her, but she still pretended to be unaware.
“Do not play me like a fool now, Pallas,” Nicolai rolled his eyes and said to Ariana, “The bouquet and letter who sent it to you and since when this is going on?”
Ariana’s toes curled, and she suddenly felt a bit suffocated.
‘You are so troublesome! Why were you even born in this house!?’
‘A jinx! That’s what you are, every time there is some trouble, you are connected to it.’
‘Can’t you live peacefully, Ariana?’
“I don’t know,” Ariana closed her eyes and replied, “I have never seen the person who sent the bouquet and letters to my house.”
“And you never told anyone?” Nicolai asked with a frown.

“I did call the police,” Ariana answered, which only deepened the frown on Nicolai’s face. He raised his hand and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Pallas, I don’t know whether to call you naive or foolish. Do you really think that the police will help you?” Nicolai said to her with a frustrated expression.
Ariana bit her lip upon hearing those words. She had expected some progress in the investigation after she filed the complaint, but even after waiting for days, she didn’t receive an answer from the police officers.
If anything, they had asked her to continue waiting.
Every time she visited the station, there would be a new excuse waiting for her.
