Chapter 255: A father’s care
“Inez!” Small flames ignited within Mister Flint’s eyes as his hand reached for the cut on his cheek. The cut was not deep, but it was not shallow either, drops of blood pooled on his fingers and as he lowered his hand, Mister Flint noticed traces of blood drops on his fingertips. “You…how dare you!”
“This should be my line,” Inez sneered as she raised from the chair and rose to her full height. She was a tall woman, with heels as high as three inches, she looked even taller. So when she stepped close to Mister Flint, she was the one who was staring down at him.
She curled her lips on one side and said to Mister Flint, “Do you think you have the right to say those words, given that you paid more attention to your mistress than our son when we were still married?”
“Just donating your sperm doesn’t make you a father, it makes you a sperm donor, Mister Flint,” Inez tilted her head to one side and lightly chuckled. “For you to become a father, you have to step up for your son and act like one. You might be a father to your daughters, but you are no father to my son.”
“How many times have you stood up for my son that you dare call yourself his father?” Inez sharply questioned and when Mister Flint could not answer, she nodded and said, “That’s right. None. Not one single time had you protected my son, so do not say words that have no authenticity to them.”
Mister Flint’s face turned embarrassed. He clenched his fists as he stated, “But you cannot deny the fact that he is my son.”
Inez raised her eyebrows, an amazed look dawning on her face. Her eyes met with Mister Flint, and she said to him,
“I never denied it. It was you who refused to admit that you ever had a relationship with me or my son. You said, and I quote—— ‘I do not need a barbaric son close to me who only knows how to shed and draw blood.’ Apparently, you wanted a sweet and gentle son like your wife,” she smiled as she leaned down, and Mister Flint stepped back warily. “What’s wrong? Your wife could not give you the outstanding son that you desired?”
Mister Flint was cornered and his face turned red in anger. He looked like he was about to burst out any second, which he did as he ground his teeth,
“How dare you act all haughty? Did I say anything wrong? This son of ours, whom you should have taught better, sent the decapitated head of Regina’s brother to my home!” Mister Flint was furious and terrified when he recalled that horrifying sight.
Finding a decapitated head in their mail was not within their expectations. That too which had a bow wrapped around it!
“Do you know how scared we were? Regina is still scared out of her wits and is burning with fever. Her brother! Maximus was her brother, and he killed him,” Mister Flint had no good feelings towards Maximus, he treated the man with ample respect only because he was Regina’s brother.
However, he never expected the man to die so suddenly.
“Then you should teach your wife to not dabble her hands in something that she knows nothing about,” the smile on Nicolai’s face turned even more maniacal. He turned to look at the door before saying, “Kayden bring that thing inside.”
Mister Flint did not understand what was going on, his brows furrowed, and he looked at Nicolai questioningly, “What are you trying to do? I am telling you there is no point in selling me lies, I trust my wife and nothing can set us apart.”
He believed that Nicolai was doing such a thing because he wanted him to return to his mother.
“And it will be a horror if you do,” Nicolai turned to look at Mister Flint. “A cheating dog and a c*ck-sucking bitch is a perfect couple. I ain’t doing no sin by letting you two separate and harming someone else, Dominic.”
“Nicolai!” Dominic Flint shouted at his son, feeling even more infuriated than ever. He turned to look at Inez and questioned, “Is this what you have taught him all these years, Inez? He doesn’t even know how to respect his father.”
“My son knows how to respect,” Inez turned her head to the side and glanced at Dominic imperiously. “It just depends on whether you have earned his respect or not. Because I don’t know how it goes in your classy aristocratic society ——in ours, one needs to earn respect for us to show.”
“And you have earned zero respect, Mister Flint,” Kayden stepped inside the office, and behind him was a man whom Dominic recognized.
“Dante, what are you doing here?” Dominic questioned as he looked at the man who was Maximus’s assistant and close friend. “Why did they bring you here?”
“For this,” Nicolai hurled a stack of papers at Dominic’s face, which hit him with a thud.
As the papers slid down his face, Dominic tightly pursed his lips. He glared at his son while trying his best to remain unruffled by his words. For he would rather not stoop as low as Nicolai.
He held numerous papers that were yet to slide down and read them. But as soon as he read the content, his expression tightened and his eyes widened.
“Wh…what?” Throwing aside his elegance and nobility, he scrambled to pick up the papers from the floor. The more he read, the more Dominic’s heart tightened.
“Are you done?” Nicolai asked with his hands in his pants pockets. “I didn’t bite off his head for no reason, he was the one who tried to bite mine first. Pity, his teeth were not sharp enough to rip my head off.”
“This is impossible,” Dominic refused to believe that Maximus had joined hands with Serpents and even did their bidding by letting the Serpents kidnap Millie.
The niece of Mister and Mrs Ashford.
“Whether you believe it, it has nothing to do with me,” Nicolai narrowed his eyes. He tipped his head to the door of the office and said to his father, “Now if you are done with your investigation, get lost.”
