Chapter 260: Noah comes knocking
“Then what do you mean?” Ariana asked with a chilly voice. She hoped that Emil had a perfect reason for his disrespect towards her.

Emil noticed the chill oozing out of every pore from Ariana’s skin and swallowed his words. With her current attitude, Emil believed it would be his funeral if he were to tell Ariana that she looked like his mother.

He cleared his throat and said, “My head hurts, can you bring me a glass of water?”

Usually, this was a nurse’s job but since no one was in the ward currently, Ariana sighed and walked over to the small cabinet where a jug of water and a glass were kept on top.

While Ariana was pouring water in the glass, Emil snapped a picture of her and sent it to Keon with the message ——

[Are you sure that our parents don’t have another child?]

Ariana looked so much like his mother that it was impossible for Emil to not notice the similarities.

“Here you go, Mister Ashford,” Ariana handed him the glass of water that’s she had poured for him and said to Emil, “If there is something else that you want, please call the nurses on duty.”

She couldn’t cater to his needs all the time, could she? Especially not when she was going back home.

Emil took the glass of water from Ariana. He took a few sips from it before saying, “I didn’t call for you because I wanted a glass of water. The doctors in charge of my surgery told me that it was because of your desperate efforts that I was able to make it out alive, which is why I wanted to thank you.”

“There is no need to thank me, Mister Ashford. I was simply doing my duty,” Ariana said to the man with a calm voice.

She turned on her feet to leave when the man suddenly reached out and held her hand.

“Where are you going?” Emil would be lying if he said that he did not feel a bit uncomfortable. He came to see Millie while everyone was too busy doing their thing. In the end, he met with an accident and got admitted in the hospital himself.

No one in the family knew about it because if they found out that he was in the hospital, then they would certainly find out that he came to see Millie. His uncle and aunt would not like that.

So, at this moment, he only had Ariana who was keeping him company and with her face that resembled his mother ——

Ariana brought him a great sense of security.

“I am going back home, Mister Ashford. My shift is about to come to an end,” it was past midnight and Ariana was done with her evening shift and as she had taken a few overtime shifts in the past few weeks, she could skip the night shift altogether.

When Emil heard that Ariana’s shift had come to an end, he wanted her to stay behind for him, but then his gaze fell on her tired eyes, and he pursed his lips.

“Then have a good night,” the man said to her.

“You too,” responded Ariana as she started to walk. With her feet striding out of the ward, Ariana headed to the office where she picked up her belongings. As she packed her things, she said to herself, “Finally, I am done for the day. Once I reach home, I will head straight to bed.”

Nothing. Not a single thing would come between her and her beloved bed tonight.

She would skin that person alive if they tried and interfered in her affair with her bed.

At the apartment building,

Noah stood outside the apartment that belonged to Ariana at the moment. He had pressed the doorbell three times and each time, there was no response.

‘Is she not at home?’ Noah thought, but as he looked down at his wristwatch, the harsh and intense green flare that displayed the time told him that it was too late.

Where would be Ariana if not at home?

The dream from last time came to Noah’s mind, and he clenched his fingers unconsciously. Certainly not, there was no way Ariana was in the bed of that man.

She might be many things, but Ariana was not the kind of woman who would jump from the bed of one man to another in a matter of days.

If she were then Ariana would not have stayed and maintained her pristine body clean for three years when he never paid attention to her.

“Who are you? And what are you doing standing outside my neighbors house?” Arabella had just returned after partying all night with her friends. Her husband was not at home, and she wanted to make use of it as much as possible.

However, as she returned home she never once expected to see a handsome man standing outside Ariana’s house again.

‘Just how many men does she have? And why was it that every man whom she knew was so good-looking?’ Arabella thought as she looked at Noah.

She straightened her back and walked over to where Noah was standing. She said to him, “Why don’t you answer? Are you the man whom she is keeping as a spare tire, is that why you came to see her so late at night.”

Noah was speechless. Not once had he been treated like a spare tire by anyone, and just in one night that image of him seemed to have been lost because this woman took him as a man who was kept by a woman.

“I am her…acquaintance,” Noah felt his throat move when he changed his words from husband to acquaintance. “There was a meeting in the evening which caused some delay. Other than that, there is no reason for me to be here at such an hour.”

If not for the threats that his grandfather gave to him, would Noah be even here?

Upon hearing his words, Arabella narrowed her eyes but then her gaze fell on the invitation in his hand and her eyes widened in surprise.

“Are you Mister Nelson?” She asked with a gulp.
