Anything else? Noah felt a twitch in his brows as he raised his hand and took out the business card that his grandfather had given to him.

“Here,” he handed it to Ariana who took it without asking anything. “Grandfather asked you to call him once you are free. Make sure to call him, or else you know how stubborn he can be.”

Of course, she had stayed in the Nelson family for three years and even if she spent the least amount of time with Mister Adrien, Ariana knew that the man was as childish as he was stern.

If she did not call him, he would most likely come here to meet her by himself.

“I understand,” Ariana closed her eyes and tucked the card neatly on a shelf where she would not lose it. She ensured that the card was placed in a proper place before turning to look at Noah. When she saw him not leaving, she frowned and questioned, “Is there something else that you want to say to me?”

‘Why does he not say everything in one go?’ Ariana complained inwardly.

Noah hesitated for a while before parting his lips and he questioned, “Where were you?”

“Excuse me?”

“Where were you? It’s so late at night. And yet, you were not home. So where did you go?” Noah found it unsettling that Ariana returned at such an odd hour. He would have found it much more acceptable if she was at her home and was not opening the door for him to enter.

Ariana was stunned at his question before she burst out in a fit of laughter. She brought her hand to her mouth and covered her lips with it. She then said to Noah, “And why do you care about such a thing? Do you see me asking what you are doing and where you go these days?”

“Ariana, do we really have to talk in such a manner?” Noah rubbed his forehead with the tips of his fingers. “Or is it because of the company that you are keeping?”

Ariana corrected him, “I have always been like this, it is you who have never paid attention to me.”

A frustrated sigh escaped Noah’s lips, the more Ariana acted like this, the more he believed that she was protecting someone she shouldn’t.

However, he had once made the mistake of questioning Ariana about Nicolai, and he wasn’t an idiot to do the same again.

He said, “I just want us to sit down and talk calmly. Our divorce was not normal, Ariana, and you know that. The least I deserve is a chance to point out and receive an explanation as well.”

“You had three years to do that and——”

There was something more that Ariana wanted to say to Noah, but at that very moment, his phone rang.

At first, Noah decisively ignored it, but as the ring continued to grow louder and louder he could no longer turn a deaf ear to it.

“Excuse me,” he said to Ariana and fished his phone out of the pocket of his coat. The second he took his phone out of his pocket, his expression changed, which was noticed by Ariana.

‘Oh,’ her lips curled into a smile as she opened the pot’s lid and scooped out the boiled broccoli and fish which she mashed and put into the bowl.

Noah glanced at Ariana, who was busy with her thing before answering the call.

“Hello——”

“Mister Nelson, please hurry down to the city hospital. Miss Ariel broke her leg, and she is currently in a terrible condition,” before Noah could say anything else apart from the greeting, he heard the panicked voice of Ariel’s agent.

He did not doubt the words of this agent, as he was the one who appointed her.

“Is it really that serious?” Noah did not want to leave his conversation in between with Ariana. Not when she was finally willing to speak with him, however Ariel ——

“It’s severe, Mr. Nelson,” the woman on the other side replied to Noah in a stern voice. “I hope you will come here as quickly as possible.”

Noah closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. He said, “I understand.”

“Are you leaving?” Ariana questioned as she stood up straight. She turned around and faced Noah with a calm smile spread on her lips. She had heard everything that was told to Noah on the phone just now.

She said, “What if I tell you to stay?”

Noah’s eyes widened before they returned to normal, he clenched his fists and said to Ariana, “Are you doing this on purpose? You know I can’t, that I have to——”

“If you stay, I will listen to what you have to say,” Ariana interrupted the man without letting him finish. “Who knows, maybe I might even return to the Nelson mansion after seeing your sincerity? But if you leave now, then I only have one request from you, Mister Nelson.”

She opened her eyes which she had closed while speaking, “Never turn back and look for me again. Because even if you return, I will not be waiting for you.”

“I hope that you will not blame me then,” Ariana stated in a cold voice. “You are right, you had no choice when we divorced which is why I am giving you a choice now. Either me or Ariel.”

“Ariana,” Noah began in a polite voice, but Ariana didn’t let him finish.

“Me or Ariel, mister Nelson. Pick one,” Ariana repeated in a hard voice. “If it’s too difficult then I will make it easier for you. If you stay with me only for an hour, I will return with you.”

“But if you leave now, then I will take it as if you have accepted our divorce.”

Noah pursed his lips and stared at the woman in front of him. His fists were clenched tightly on his head as he muttered, “You are one cruel woman, Ariana Harlow.”

“I know, and since you have made your choice…please can you get lost? I do not wish to waste my precious time on you.”
