Chapter 270: A clue
Six hours went by in a blink of an eye, and Ariana, who had been working without taking a pause finally got a chance to breathe when she went to examine Millie.
When she arrived at the ward, she was stunned to see several round paper balls being thrown on the ground and as she got closer to the bed in the ward, she noticed the young woman sitting on the bed with a frown on her face. As she finished drawing, she suddenly stopped in frustration before tearing off the paper and throwing it on the ground.
Ariana crouched down and picked up the paper that Millie threw on the floor and exclaimed in awe, “This is so beautiful.” Even though there were slight flaws in the abstract artistic sketch of the woman on the paper, the art itself was beautiful as the eyes of the woman on the paper seemed to be alive.
Millie’s head turned to the direction where Ariana stood, and she shook her head before quietly saying, “My aunt is more beautiful.”
When Ariana heard her words, she smiled at the young woman. She stepped closer to where Millie was sitting and placed the sketch on the cabinet next to the bed.
She sat down on the stool next to the bed before saying, “I know.”
“Have you seen her?” Millie questioned with a frown as her aunt had never come or couldn’t come to visit her because of her mother. Did her aunt come here when she was asleep?
“You just showed her to me,” said Ariana as she picked up the abstract sketch and then placed the paper in front of Millie. “You brought life to her eyes, so how can I not know that she is a beautiful woman?”
“But it’s not perfect,” whispered Millie, her shoulders stiff and her body trembling. The young woman did not look at Ariana and continued to stare at the sketch. “My mom says that I am weird, she asked me to draw normal sketches, but I can not, she thinks there is something wrong with me and left me here to get better. To be more normal.”
The young woman had tried to be perfect as her mother wanted, but she couldn’t. Because she could not understand how doing something that made her happy brought sadness to her mother and made her upset.
Ariana understood Millie, she did not brush away her worries aside like her parents did. She held Millie’s hands in hers and said,
“How about I start teaching you how to draw a normal sketch? I am sure that you will learn it without any problem because you are good with your hands,” Ariana smiled at Millie. “However, Miss Mille, I would also like to tell you that there is nothing normal with your sketch. It might be weird and abnormal according to others but that’s only because they lack the vision and the artistic sense that you do. It’s not you who is lacking, it’s them.”
“Really?” Millie blinked her eyes feeling a sense of confidence, it wasn’t much, but it was enough for her to meet Ariana’s eyes for two seconds before looking away.
“Really, then shall we start?” Ariana said to Millie as she helped her learn how to sketch normal things in a normal way. At the same time, she gave Millie her medicine and checked her vitals.
She did not understand why Millie’s parents insisted that she stay in the hospital when she only needed therapy and some medicines to calm her down.
However, listening to Millie, Ariana seemed to have understood a little.
After drawing for two hours as Ariana went in and out of the ward to check up on other patients as well, Millie finally finished sketching Ariana’s face on the paper.
But compared to the abstract art earlier, this sketch was stiff and cold.
Millie turned to look at Ariana with a small frown when she saw her enter.
Ariana walked inside and softly chuckled when she saw her cold face on the paper, “It’s not bad. It’s just you are paying too much attention to the rules. Just because you are trying to draw a normal sketch, it doesn’t mean you should completely ignore what you feel is right.” She placed her hand on Millie’s head and said to her, “I mean it, Miss Millie. Do not ignore yourself to please others.”
She had tried it once and only caused herself to suffer, Ariana did not want Millie to have the same regrets as she did.
As she spoke, she glanced at another round ball of paper and picked it up. However, the smile on her face slowly disappeared as she looked at the sketch ——-
It was of a man. But something about it was truly terrifying, the face of the man was distorted while a smile graced his lips. The eyes of the man glowed eerily and as Ariana looked at the face, she dropped the paper as if she had been electrocuted by it.
“I—-I am sorry,” Ariana realized what she had done and went to pick the sketch up.
“Don’t,” she was halfway through when Millie stopped her.
“Miss Millie, I didn’t want to throw it,” Ariana thought that Millie was agitated because she threw her painting away.
“Don’t touch him…he is a bad man,” Millie’s eyes were fixed on the paper.
Ariana was taken aback by what Millie said to her. Her eyebrows subtly furrowed, and she asked, “Bad man?”
Millie turned to look at Ariana and nodded before saying, “The bad man who came bringing flowers.”
‘Flowers?’ Ariana’s eyes widened as she asked Millie, “Did this man bring violet flowers that smell really good?”

In her hurry, Ariana had leaned closer to Millie who stiffened and suddenly looked vulnerable. Her eyes turned wide and she started trembling.
Not knowing what happened suddenly, Ariana asked in concern, “Miss Millie are you okay?”
“D——don’t come closer, don’t look at my face…don’t touch me,” stammered the young woman, looking agitated.
