Maybe it was a coincidence? Sybil had seen such instances many times and did not think much of it.

She stepped back and took a close and careful look at Ariana before saying, “You would need a delicate piece of necklace for this dress, fortunately, I have something in hand. You can try it and see whether it suits you or not?”

Sybil had always been about perfection and would stop at nothing unless she was satisfied with her work.

Ariana wanted to refuse, she did not need a piece of jewellery on top of a dress. She was certain that buying this dress alone was going to put her in a separate kind of debt. She would rather not add a pendant on top of it.

But before she could refuse, Nicolai agreed with Sybil and said to her, “You are right. This dress looks a tad bit lacking without a nice piece of jewellery.”

When Ariana heard his words she was simply speechless. Sure enough the rich were truly privileged, she was dying of worry when she thought about how this dress alone was going to be the death of her and yet, Nicolai wanted her to check out a necklace.

“I shall get it right away. Please wait for a moment,”

Ariana was about to tell Sybil that there was no need for it, but maybe the woman knew or sensed her rejection. Without giving Ariana a chance to say anything, she turned on her feet and walked away.

The woman disappeared behind a small door while leaving Ariana alone with Nicolai. Ariana could hear shuffling behind the room.

When she sensed Nicolai’s gaze on her, she ignored it for a while before turning to look at the man who was staring at her.

“What’s wrong, Mister de Luca?” Ariana asked with a polite voice and Nicolai who had been watching Ariana from the side stiffened upon hearing her question.

He thought that he was being subtle.

“It’s nothing. It’s just that it’s my first time seeing a woman who is not excited while shopping,” Nicolai replied with a little smile and Ariana couldn’t help but say,

“How can I be excited when I know that I will have to pay for these things through my paychecks?” Ariana questioned the man, and she heard him chuckle as if he were a devil who was going to tempt her into selling her soul.

“You are exaggerating, it’s not going to be that bad. Sybil is my cousin, I can always ask for a discount,” Nicolai said to her with his lips curling in a tempting smile. “You don’t have to worry I have everything covered”

Sybil finally appeared from the room inside which she had disappeared, and she was carrying a small velvet box in her hands. She placed it on the side before saying,

“This is a piece that I designed while I was working on this dress,” Sybil said as she opened the box, inside the box lay a delicate necklace which had diamonds shaped in the shape of leaves with a single diamond rose sitting in the middle of the piece.

It was pretty, but Nicolai felt something was missing.

He turned to look at Ariana before asking, “Is it to your liking?”

“It is,” Ariana answered as if she was on autopilot, which was freaking creepy. This very same woman helped him change and redesign his accessories but all of a sudden, when it came to her——

Everything was fine.

It was as if she firmly believed she did not deserve anything good.

Ariana, why do you put others over you?

Nicolai glanced at her before hooking his lips up in a smile. He said to her, “Come here I will help you put it on.”

When Ariana heard his words, she wanted to refuse, but Nicolai did not give her the chance to say no. Instead, he stepped behind her and swept her hair from her shoulders before pushing the locks of her hair to one side to the front.

His warm fingers tickled the back of her skin and Ariana sucked in a breath. She wanted to see her reflection in the mirror because she was certain that her skin was stinging with furious fumes oozing out of it.

If not, why would she feel so hot all of a sudden as if something nefarious had been unleashed within her?

However, just as Nicolai’s finger looped around her neck, she felt something brush past her like a typhoon followed by a crashing sound.

“Wh—-what?” Ariana turned around as she clasped the necklace which would have fallen on the floor if she did not hold it in time.

Her eyes fell on Nicolai who was on the floor before sliding over to the man who was standing in front of Nicolai.

His back was taut and every muscle in his body seemed to be stiff.

“No… Noah?” Ariana was shocked to see the man whom she had never expected to see ever again, especially not after the night when he chose Ariel over her.

Again.

“What are you doing here?” She questioned him.

But Noah did not seem to have heard her, he was keeping a close eye on Nicolai instead and as soon as the man was back on his feet——

Noah tackled him back down, his right hand was clenched in a fist which he drove right into Nicolai’s face.

“Noah!” Ariana gasped as she placed the necklace inside the velvet box and rushed to where the two men were fighting.

She had never seen Noah violent and Ariana had no idea what to make out of this rage.

“Fucking fuck, Nelson!” Nicolai laughed as he raised his hand and touched the corner of his mouth which was bleeding. “That was some punch, come on give me more. Put more strength in your punch this time.”

“I will fucking kill you!” Noah roared as he raised his fist and aimed it at Nicolai’s nose.

“Try me!”
