Chapter 282: Oh,the consequences of my actions
“I didn’t say that,” Noah began slowly. “What I wanted to say to you was now that the misunderstanding has been cleared up. You should come back to where you belong.”

At that moment, Noah’s emotions were rather complicated. For his entire life, he had inexplicably hated Ariana. So when he found out that the girl who saved him was Ariel, he never thought of investigating the truth as he felt relieved that it was her.

To make matters worse, Ariel also knew keen and minute details that no one should have known.

He believed that no one would be foolish enough to share such information with someone else and let them take their credit.

So, Noah never once doubted Ariel.

However, even if he wanted to delude himself into believing that it was Ariel who saved him, Noah could not do it. Not anymore, especially after finding out that Ariel had never suffered any injury to her back.

Of course, he didn’t fall in love with Ariana irrevocably.

For the majority of his life he had been blaming Ariana for causing the death of his grandmother——- it would be too weird for him to suddenly start loving her as if she were his to claim.

But what Noah knew and wanted was to pull Ariana away from Nicolai. The last time he had a feeling similar to this one was when he was six.

When Glynn stole one of his game consoles and didn’t return it to him. And now that feeling was returning ten——- no thousand times intensely.

In the past, a man like Nicolai wouldn’t have terrified him. No, in fact, he wouldn’t have even taken a second look at that barbarian of a man but now ——

He was terrified of the notion that Nicolai would snatch Ariana from him. For the first time in his life, Noah felt unconfident and unpredictable, which scared him in a manner that did not make any sense.

“We can make our relationship work, Ariana,” Noah closed his eyes and exhaled heavily before continuing, “There have been some misunderstandings between us but if you give us a chance, I believe we can move past the unhappy memories.”

Ariana stood where she was, her pink locks fluttering behind her. For two seconds she did not say a word, which heightened the anxiety of both men.

Noah was certain that he had won Ariana’s trust by his words, while Nicolai thought the same. He was worried that Pallas would give this Preppy boy another chance.

One that he did not deserve.

Slowly, her lips curled into a smile as Ariana raised her hand and ——-

The sound of a harsh slap echoed in the parking lot, attracting the attention of the bystanders. Some flinched, while some turned to look at what was going on curiously.

Among them was Nicolai, who had his hand on his mouth and was working hard to suppress the grin which was threatening to spill on his lips.

Brandon also had his hands over his mouth, but he was genuinely shocked and embarrassed on Noah’s account.

“Are you awake now, Mister Nelson?” Ariana asked sweetly.

“Ariana, you——”

“You chose her,” Ariana interrupted whatever Noah was about to say. With her blue eyes fiercely staring at the man, who was holding his cheek which she had slapped, with his hand, she reminded him coldly, “I asked you to pick one. And you picked Ariel, remember?”

“So what are you trying to prove by saying such words to me now? Whether Ariel saved you or did not save you, it doesn’t matter anymore,” Ariana shook her head slightly. She dropped her hand, which she had raised to slap Noah and stated,

“What matters is that you chose her over me and I told you to never show up in front of me if you do that —— it is high time you start honouring your promises, Mister Nelson.”

Her eyes drilled into Noah’s stormy grey ones as she added with a rumble, “As for where I belong … I don’t know about that, but I certainly do not belong to a man who has always treated me as a second option.”

Noah’s stormy eyes darkened, he was taken aback by Ariana’s tough stance. As he took a good look at Ariana, who was no longer mimicking Ariel, he had to admit that Ariana was even more beautiful than Ariel.

“I did not know,” Noah said to her in a voice which was barely above a whisper. “You never told me the truth. If you had——”

“Nothing would have happened,” Ariana coldly cut him off. “I might have not told you the truth about that kidnapping incident, but that was only because you never believed me when I screamed and yelled about how I did not send Ariel away. That she left you on her own.”

“You did not believe such a small thing and lapped every single one of her inconceivable lies, so how dare you say that you would have believed me if I were to tell you that I was the one who saved you?”

She hooked her lips on one side and stated, “In fact, give it a day or two. With how much you trust Ariel, you will soon go back to your La La Land.”

After she finished speaking, Ariana turned around on her feet.

‘He is going to return to her anyway, so why is he even bothering me?’ Ariana thought with a slightly annoyed furrow of her brows.

She gently rubbed the space between her eyes and took a step away from Noah towards Nicolai.

“Ariana——-”

Seeing her leave, Noah’s eyes widened as he reached out to hold Ariana’s wrist, but his hand was intercepted by Nicolai.

Earlier, he stayed quiet because he wanted to let Pallas have the opportunity to walk away from him. But now that Ariana had chosen her pick, he was no longer going to stay quiet anymore.

“Get lost!” Noah said to the man who was intervening between him and Ariana.
