‘No, don’t!’ Nicolai exclaimed with a worried look. He said to his mother, ‘They will all call me a mama’s boy if you go and interfere with this matter, Mom! Jeez, can you not? I am hated enough already. I don’t want to be called names anymore.’

He muttered under his breath and noticed the flicker of hurt in his mother’s eyes.

Nicolai cursed himself for being too impulsive. He knew that his mother blamed herself for everything that was happening in their lives.

‘It’s nothing that I cannot deal with mom, you don’t have to worry about it,’ Nine-and-a-half-year-old Nicolai said to his mother.

He was young, just a child according to many, but because of his bloody father who only knew how to act like a father when it suited him just right, Nicolai grew up much too soon.

He had to.

Because if he didn’t then the alternative would be to see his mother die.

Inez was too weak to fight her demons which were getting stronger and stronger these past few nights and Nicolai needed to do everything to fight those

demons alongside his mother.

Because he couldn’t lose his mother.

‘This isn’t enough. I need to get stronger…more bloody more…’ Nicolai thought as he took his leave from his mother’s office.

When Nicolai walked out of the office, his cousin Kayden was waiting for him outside. With his arms locked behind his head, Kayden asked Nicolai, ‘Are we going to let this slide? Those idiots will have a field day if we do not take charge of the situation.’

‘No, we are not going to let this slide,’ Nicolai said while walking through the hallways and turning left where he headed for the wide and curved stairs. ‘We are going to teach those bastards a lesson on how they cannot go against the familia.’

Kayden chased after him, a cheeky grin on his lips as he said to Nicolai, ‘Are we sneaking out of the house? Awesome.’

Nicolai did not want to do it the hard way, but he had no other way. He loved his mother, she was a beautiful and charming woman. To infinity and beyond, he loved that woman.

But today he needed to make a statement. For his mother, it might be a small matter, but it wasn’t in his eyes.

Others thought that his father’s departure from his and his mother’s life was a weakness. And oh boy, were they in for a rude awakening.

Because it wasn’t a weakness.

Nicolai did not need a man as cowardly as that in his life.

He was going to teach those idiots a good lesson, and would also show his mother that he was strong enough to protect himself.

That she does not need to blame herself for not being able to keep that man.

Nicolai and Kayden made their way to the small dog hole in the back of their house, from where they made their escape.

Not only did they make their escape but also went to the playground where they taught those stupid dogs a lesson. So hard that they were crying by the time everything ended.

‘I will go and grab a can of juice,’ Kayden, who was sporting a split lip and two black eyes, said to Nicolai. ‘Wait here for me.’

‘Okay,’ Nicolai also felt parched, as he had been yelling and punching and kicking and yelling a lot. It was an endless cycle.

Kayden nodded and then ran to grab a can of juice while Nicolai waited in the playground. He wiped the blood off his face when there was a sudden crunch of leaves and someone covered his mouth with a handkerchief.

As the heir of the De Luca family, Nicolai had long learned not to smell or drink anything which was forcefully handed to him.

His eyes widened, but he didn’t fight back, instead, he let the man think that he had succeeded in capturing him.

Because he knew that there was no point in fighting back, an adult. He needed to save whatever energy he could at that point.

Maybe the man was an idiot as well because he did not think of taking a second look at Nicolai, and dumped him in the back of his car.

Nicolai waited for the light to be cut off and the car to start as he took out his little tool kit which he carried with himself all the time and undid the keyhole at the back of the car.

At the same time, he activated the GPS tracker in his shoes.

This idiot must be a super idiotic one. Did he really think that the heir of the De Luca family would be without any help?

Down to the last hair on his toe, he was an idiot.

But Nicolai knew that he was an even bigger fool for coming out of the house when his mother strictly told him not to.

For the rest of the drive, Nicolai stared out of the damaged keyhole. He noted down every single detail he could and drew out an escape route for himself.

So by the time the car stopped, Nicolai was certain that it was going to be a piece of cake.

The only problem, those idiots whom he took as fools tied his hands and legs.

What was this? Delayed reaction or a perverted tactic of cutting all hope at the end of the rope?

Nicolai, who was pretending to be unconscious, let them do whatever they wanted.

‘Once I grow up I am going to kill these people,’ Nicolai thought angrily and his thoughts turned even more violent when he was thrown on the ground.

‘These idiots——-‘

‘AHHHHH!’ A scream tore through the silent surroundings followed by the sound of kicking and punching.

‘You bitch! I will kill you!’

Nicolai’s thoughts came to a sudden end when he heard the screaming and yelling. He opened his eyes and what he saw made goosebumps erupt all over his skin.
