Chapter 290: The day of the party
“Won’t that be too much?” Ariel feigned panic as if she were not excited to see Glynn make trouble for Ariana. It would be perfect if Glynn could ruin Ariana thoroughly.
‘Even getting herself entangled with a rich old man is too good for her. I wish she would live a life where she has to drink water from the sewers and eat food from the trash can,’ Ariel thought wickedly.
For as long as she knew, she had been compared to Arian and each time she was the one who was suppressed by her younger sister as people found Ariana more likeable.
How could Ariel not hate Ariana enough to see her die?
“Don’t worry, I am not planning something too extreme,” Glynn patted Ariel on the back of her hand. “I just want to teach her a small lesson and nothing else. Your sister will come back to you safe and sound except for a few scratches.”
Ariel’s expression dulled. She expected something more, something dangerous, but unfortunately, she forgot that Glynn had the guts of a possum.
“Is that so… you don’t have to though,” Ariel said to the woman softly. But even though she seemed to be saying one thing, her vulnerable expression said another thing.
Glynn waved her hand dismissively. “Don’t you worry, Ariel. I have taken care of everything, no one will be able to trace the matter back to me.”
A trace of excitement flashed in Ariel’s eyes while her head was lowered. If that was the case then —— a little push wouldn’t be too much.
Glynn stayed with Ariel for a while before taking her leave. However, as soon as she stepped out of the ward, she ran into Regal who was supporting an elderly woman.
Her eyes flickered to the woman who was wearing patched clothing and then to Regal who seemed worried.
“Mom, there is no need to worry about money. I will think of something,” Regal said to his mother who was stubbornly refusing to get admitted to the hospital.
“Oh hush, this is nothing,” Kaitlyn shook her head and refused her son. “Did you not hear the sky-high fees they want? I would rather stay at home.”
“But mother——”
“Regal, I am fine.”
When Regal saw that his mother was determined not to stay in the hospital, he did not say anything more.
He sighed and raised his head when his eyes met with Glynn who was watching him.
A sudden wave of panic gripped Regal’s heart as he protected his mother behind him.
While supporting his mother, he walked past Glynn slowly. At the same time, he wished for Glynn to not say anything, his mother could not withstand another shock like the last time.
Glynn noticed his stance and frowned lightly.
Not understanding what was going on, however, even though she wanted to show her concern towards Kaitlyn, Glynn stopped herself.
‘He doesn’t want me to speak to him, so why even bother?’ Glynn thought with a hint of stubbornness. She glanced at the man who was walking past her.
Her gaze met with Regal who stiffened before ducking his gaze.
‘So, he doesn’t even want to look at me now?’ Glynn clenched her fists angrily. She felt a throb in her heart and couldn’t help but want to hurt Regal just as he was hurting her.
“Looks like all that whoring didn’t work, eh?” Glynn remarked with a sneer, and Regal looked up at her in shock. His gaze was half pleading and half angry, but there was something more.
Something like hurt laced under the myriads of emotions, causing Glynn to turn even more furious.
She whipped her head to face the front and marched away. What was he feeling hurt for? How dare he look at her like that, as if she were the one who had let him down!
Regal watched Glynn leave and unclenched his teeth.
‘Whoring around? Who are you to say such words after what you have done?’ Regal thought with small flames burning in his eyes.
“Regal, what’s wrong, son?” Kaitlyn asked when she noticed her son pause.

Regal snapped out of his thoughts as he turned to look at Kaitlyn, who seemed worried. His lips curled into a placating smile as he replied, “Nothing. I thought that I saw someone familiar.”
“Oh, did you see your friend? Why did you not tell me, I would have greeted them.” Kaitlyn looked around the corridor but was stopped by Regal who shook his head and remarked coldly, “No, I just thought that I knew the person. But I didn’t, it was a mistake Mom.”
Three days later, early in the morning away from the Lonest city in a gigantic mansion, which was located next to a large lake, a handsome man was packing his bags.
His magenta locks have been gelled and styled elegantly as he rummaged through his files and clothes. He placed one set of clothes inside the suitcase while pulling the rejected ones on the side.
“Mateo, can you bring this jar of cookies for your brother and sister?” Kaylyn made her way inside the room of her son, her yellow heels clicked on the padded floor which was covered by a carpet.
She was holding a jar of cookies while looking at her second son, who was headed to attend Mister Nelson’s birthday party.
Originally, the one who was supposed to participate in the ball was supposed to be Keon, but he ran into some trouble with the recent business dealings leaving Penny alone.
They couldn’t let the princess of the Ashford family attend the banquet alone, so Mateo had to go to the Lonest City and take charge of the situation.
Mateo raised his head and turned to look at his mother’s green eyes which were similar to his own.
He sighed and said to his mother, “Mom, I doubt that Keon and Penny will die if they do not eat your cookies for a few days.”
Kaylyn rolled her eyes as she placed the jar of cookies on the bed before saying to her son, “Of course they won’t, but you will certainly be punished if you don’t bring it with you.”
“I gave birth to four children and none of them stays at home with me. Your grandmother used to say that having children was a miraculous thing, and it brightens one’s house.”
“Humph all lies.”
