“Alright, Queen of Ashford Empire! Alright! I will bring these cookies to them, stop with your melodramatics, will you?” Mateo clapped his hands together as if he were praying, causing Kaylyn’s lips to hook up.

“Why do you even try to go against me when you know that you cannot?” Kaylyn asked curiously while looking at her son packing the jar of cookies.

Mateo rolled his eyes and turned to look at his mother, “Because I am optimistic to win one day against your unreasonable and unrealistic demands, Mom.”

“Hawww! When did I make an unreasonable demand?” Kaylyn questioned, looking offended.

“You asked me to care for Penny more. Seriously, you think that devil’s minion needs my care? If anything, it is the devil who requires my care—— his empire is at stake,” he snatched a cookie from the jar and munched on it. “Sooner or later, your daughter will cause havoc in hell and the Devil will have to abdicate his throne because of her.”

Kaylyn frowned when she heard the words of her son. She said to him, “She is your sister, Mateo.”

“Is she?” Mateo asked as he finished packing up his bags and straightened up. As his back was facing Kaylyn, he did not notice her stiffening. “Do you even know the things she does Mom?”

“Three weeks ago, I sent a bunch of antiques and gifts to Emil. Five days later, I saw Penny showing those gifts off to her friends under the context that Mister de Luca and Mister Morholt sent those gifts to her.”

“I have nothing against her desire to satisfy her vain pride, she is an Ashford in her own way. But it’s troublesome if she uses her own brothers to get that satisfaction.”

“Now Emil cannot use those gifts anymore because it’s simply awkward to use them.”

Kaylyn was indeed aware of her daughter’s weird and atrocious actions. She didn’t understand whether it was due to Penny’s desire to be better than the rest, or she was simply lonely.

The last time, when Mister Ashford brought a rather expensive bush of roses, that cost more than four million dollars.

Of course, Kaylyn adored that beautiful rose which was not only rare but was also a valuable gift.

Her husband usually never brought gifts for her in fact, he believed more in spending time with his family and cooking something nice for his wife and children as time was something that he had least in his hands.

But when he brought gifts for her, those gifts would far exceed the expectations of many.

So, it went without saying how careful Kaylyn was with this rare and expensive rose bush. She didn’t even let the gardener touch it but Penny—— that girl went ahead and plucked off the buds of the roses which didn’t even bloom.

Apparently, she named them after Nicolai as well.

“I understand what you are saying but she is your sister. You should take care of her properly.”

“Isn’t that why I am heading to the Lonest City, mum?” Mateo stated as he leaned down and kissed his mother on the cheek. “I am going there to take care of your princess.”

In the apartment, Ariana sneezed as she looked at Danny who was rummaging through several makeup boxes that he brought with him. Only the lord knew where he got hold of this much makeup.

Her nose twitched because of all the sharp scent that was flying all over the room.

She waved a hand in front of her face before questioning Danny, “Did you rob a shop? How come you got your hands on so much makeup?”

“So much makeup? Girl! This is not even half of what I needed!” Danny exasperatedly told Ariana. “You know how I was a makeup artist for celebrities before I became a lawyer? This is not even half of what I needed.”

“But I have no makeup at home because I do not need it. I had to ring one of my friends before I could collect these babies, though they are nowhere near enough to turn you into a diva, we need to use whatever we can.”

Ariana broke out into a cold sweat when she heard Danny’s words. She looked at the things scattered all over the floor, her dining table as well as her couch and couldn’t help but wonder out loud,

“Are you planning for war?”

“It is a war, Ari. You might think that a woman’s wisdom is her most powerful weapon, I will let you know, it’s just not that.”

“Along with her wits, it’s her beauty and you need to make use of yours, alright sweetie?” Danny stated firmly. “In balls like these people come together to show off their wealth and beauty. In case you have either of these, you need to showcase the one thing that you have.”

“What if you have none?”

“Oh, Ari, you are so naive. Do you think if someone was poor and ugly, the Nelsons would have invited them? Your ex-mother-in-law would have a seizure if that were to happen.”

“Don’t you remember how she treated poor Mikey? That man was literally traumatized.” He was talking about his assistant who went to deliver a gift to Ariana and returned with a bunch of scathing remarks and tips to take care of his pimples.

Ariana winced as she recalled that incident.

“I hope you did tell him that I was sorry, if I was quick on my feet nothing like that would have happened.”

“It’s not your fault. Your mother-in-law is a one stuck-up bitch, she seriously needs to get her asshole checked, I believe someone might find a bunch of things stuffed in there given how stiff she acts all the time.”

Danny sniffed and added, “Every time I see her, she has an expression similar to that of smelling cow dung.”

“Anyway,” Danny gave Ariana a knowing look before saying, “Who knows, maybe you might return home with that V card revoked?”

Ariana’s cheeks flushed red as she kicked Danny, who was sitting on the floor. She said, “I am only going to hand my gift to grandpa… I am not going there to enjoy.”

“Perhaps you should. You are turning into Mia Nelson 2.0 with that stuffy attitude.”

“So might as well shove a D instead of something else.”
