Chapter 292: Escort
Ariana looked at her reflection in awe. She couldn’t believe that the refined and elegant woman in the mirror was her.
Her lips were painted a soft pink, with a sheen of gloss over them, while her rosy pink locks were curled into gentle waves and left loose behind her.
The shorter bangs were styled and pinned on the front such that they fell just an inch over her forehead and not a quarter longer.
Danny had pinned small white flowers of jasmine on the locks of her hair, which made her hair look even prettier.
Ariana touched her bangs and questioned Danny, “Why did you even stop working as a makeup artist? You would have earned a different kind of fame with your skills.”
“Call it my foolishness or my desire to not put up with anyone’s bullshit,” replied Danny who stood behind Ariana as he fluffed up the fur cape behind her dress. “I once thought of becoming a full-time makeup artist, but then I was appointed to do makeup for one arrogant piece of work. It was then that I realized that it was not the line of work for me.”
“Because you couldn’t keep up with her attitude?”
“No, because I made that woman look like a clown,” Ariana turned to look at Danny who stared back at her, affronted. “What? I wasn’t going to let that woman foolishly believe that she can walk all over anyone she likes.”
“Her parents failed to teach her that, so I stepped up for them. She should be thankful for that.”
Ariana shook her head, she picked up the diamond necklace that Nicolai purchased with this dress for her.
Danny helped her put the necklace around her neck, he took a look at Ariana before he nodded and said, “You look beautiful. Forget about getting your V card taken, you might be getting marriage proposals.”
“You need to take it easy with those compliments, Danny. My head might end up getting bigger along with my ego,” Ariana said with a soft smile as she walked over to the shoe cabinet from where she took out her best pair of heels.
“Will you be alright by yourself, Ari?” Danny asked as he watched Ariana slip her feet in the heels.
Ari nodded and smiled at Danny. She turned and met with his eyes, “I will be fine and Leila will be attending the party as well. It should be alright.”
“Ah, she is attending the party as well?” Danny frowned. “Will she be fine with that piece of toxic waste that even nuclear reactors would spit out?”
“I don’t know,” Ariana answered honestly. “We will just have to pray that Leila won’t run into Ryan.” If those two met, then it wouldn’t take long for the situation to become chaotic.
Danny sighed again, with the palm of his hand placed on his forehead. He didn’t understand why but for some reason he suddenly had a feeling that tonight’s party was just a recipe for disaster.
“Do you really not need me to drop you to the Nelson manor?” Danny asked and Ariana shook her head before replying, “It’s alright, Danny. Anyway, Mrs. Nelson is known for her strictness when it comes to such events.”
“I don’t think you will be allowed to drive past the gates and I don’t want anyone to make you uncomfortable.”
Mrs Nelson had never treated her guests with respect, Ariana wondered if it would be any different this time around and even if it was, she was not eager to find out about it.
“I don’t mind it,” Danny shrugged and stated.
“Of course, you don’t mind it. But that doesn’t mean that I should make you deal with something that will make you uncomfortable,” Ariana stated as she carefully sprayed some perfume on the crook of her shoulder as well as her wrist and clothes.
There it was again, thought Danny as he watched Ariana busy herself as she wore the earrings that came with the necklace.
‘Why does she care more about not making me uncomfortable than making an appearance alone in the very party where women like Glynn and Ariel are waiting to chew her up?’ Danny questioned inwardly with his arms crossed.
However, his thoughts came to a sudden stop when the sound of the doorbell ringing echoed in the silent apartment.
Both he and Ariana looked up as they turned around and glanced at the door.
“Were you expecting someone?” Danny asked Ariana, who shook her head. “No, I wasn’t.”
“Then who is ringing the doorbell?” Danny questioned again and Ariana glanced at him with an exasperated and helpless look on her face.
She smoothed the front of her dress and stated coldly, “Wouldn’t we know who it is if we were to open the door?”
“Ah, thank you for letting me know. I wouldn’t have known what to do without you in this situation,” Danny sarcastically remarked, while Ariana rolled her eyes and then crossed the room before coming to a stop in front of the door.

She placed her hand on the doorknob and pulled it open.
Clang.
“Mister de Luca??” Ariana’s attention was attracted by the bouquet of roses falling on the floor before she could take a look at the person who brought the very bouquet.
Nicolai, however, didn’t answer as he continued staring at Ariana. His mouth was agape as his gaze flickered from Ariana’s head to her feet.
“P——Pallas, it’s you?” Nicolai knew that Ariana was beautiful, but this was insane. How could——How could a person change so much with just a little makeup and a change of clothing?
Ariana scrunched up her brows as she picked up the bouquet from the floor and replied, “Well it’s me. What’s wrong, Mister de Luca?”
What was wrong? Every freaking thing was wrong!
If Ariana attended the party looking so beautiful, wouldn’t he gain unwanted rivals?
Nicolai muttered to himself, “What have I done?”
“Is everything alright, Mister de Luca?” Nicolai heard Ariana ask, who was now holding the bouquet that he brought with him.
