Chapter 295: Seemed to have gone crazy
Now Penny could only hope that Noah Nelson was not one of those losers who would start missing their old flames after the divorce.
Because if Mateo were to run into Ariana, it would be a death sentence for her.
On the other side, as Ariana stepped out of the car on the familiar yet unfamiliar pavement of the Nelson manor, she turned her attention to Nicolai who was unusually quiet tonight.
“Mister de Luca, is everything alright with you?” Ariana asked the man who was awfully stiff and cold.
“I am fine,” Nicolai answered without much thought as he glared at the three men who were eyeing Ariana with a knowing look in their eyes
He knew those fuck me eyes really well, having grown up with a bunch of dogs like men.
The three men were scared silly by his glare, but that was not enough. Making three men scampers was nowhere enough when the woman next to him resembled the enchantress from the stories on witches and wizards.
He knew it!
Ariana got to be a witch. If not, how in the world did she turn him into an impotent bastard?
Ariana watched Nicolai’s expression with her brows furrowed as she remarked, “If it’s too much then I can enter the party on my own.”
She thought that Nicolai was having second thoughts as she was a divorced woman, and it would be embarrassing for him to make his appearance with a woman like her.
“No!” Nicolai yelped and held Ariana’s wrist. “You are not allowed to leave, and you are not allowed to make your appearance alone either, Pallas.” That would be equivalent to announcing that she was single and ready to mingle.
Nicolai was yet to prepare himself for that.
Upon hearing his yell, Ariana flinched. She frowned even more harshly and leaned in close to the face of the man beside her.
“Mister de Luca, what is going on with you? Ever since earlier, you have been a bit too testy, haven’t you?”
Nicolai glanced at the woman who had leaned close to his face and stiffened. A furious blush scattered all over his neck and the shell of his ears while Nico the Great stood up in attention as eager as a teacher’s pet.
‘I am going to have him written off from my will… I will seriously have him written off from my will,’ Nicolai thought as he glared at his crotch.
Seriously, Nico the Great? Was this the time or the place?
Nico The Great did not care about either of those things, he was standing upright like a dutiful puppy who was eager to please his mistress.
It was simply humiliating to watch.
“I am fine, Pallas. Seriously, stop looking at me like that, or else I will think that you have fallen for me,” Nicolai remarked with a mock teasing voice.
Fortunately, it was enough to make Ariana back off.
“Let’s head inside, Mister De Luca,” Ariana said to Nicolai, who despite his dejection agreed.
The two of them made their way to the ballroom of the Nelson family. As they arrived at the gigantic gates, the two of them could hear soft waltz music being played inside the building.
Ariana arched a brow at the choice of the song that was being played, and then a second later shook her head.
Mister Adrien did not like soft waltz music, he liked old country folk songs or pop music of his time.
However, with Mrs Nelson making the preparations for Mister Adrien’s birthday party, it was not surprising that she did not even pay the slightest attention to what Mister Adrien liked.
Instead, it seemed like she was catering to the taste and the likes of those who came to attend the party.
‘Mia Nelson has always been like this,’ thought Ariana.
Even when she was married to Noah, Mrs Nelson cared more about what others would think about her rather than caring about the likes and dislikes of her family.

As long as she could get the praises and compliments from the social circle in which she was trying to fit so desperately, Mrs Nelson could ignore everything else with ease.
“Invitation,” the security guards who stood in front of the doors, stretched out their hands to double-check the invitation.
“Do you think that I would have come to this place if I wasn’t invited?” Nicolai muttered, annoyed by the fact that he was being asked for the invitation card twice.
Ariana glared at him sideways before handing her invitation card to the guard. She smiled at him and apologized, “I am so sorry about him.”
The guard raised his head and looked at her with a stunned look on his face. At first, Ariana did not understand why he was looking at her like that, but soon she realized that it was because she apologized to him.
How many people here would apologise to mere guards?
Fortunately, it did not take long for them to enter the ballroom, and Ariana no longer had to smile at the guard awkwardly.
“Don’t smile at others if you don’t want to,” Nicolai said to Ariana who furrowed her brows and stated, “Wouldn’t that be rude to the other person?”
“Who cares about them? If you are uncomfortable, just don’t do it. Think of yourself more than someone else,” Nicolai rebuked her in a reprimanding voice.
As the two of them were busy quarrelling, they failed to notice the many gazes that were directed at them.
Half of them were petrified when they saw Nicolai de Luca step inside the ballroom, while the other half were simply stunned when they saw Ariana.
This was not only because she was the ex-wife of Noah Nelson but also because —— she was the most beautiful woman in the ballroom!
As she walked past the crowd, the light from the chandeliers seemed to be illuminating her entire body.
Women couldn’t help but click their tongues in envy while men remained still as if they had been hypnotized.
“This woman, is she crazy?”
