“You know…” Nicolai drawled with his arms crossed in front and eyes narrowed sharply as he looked at the people who were now sitting at the table where he and Ariana were sitting.

“I have seen many disgusting things. And I am not exaggerating, there was one time I saw someone’s brain spilt on the street because that person met with an accident.”

Slight correction, it was not a street but a graveyard and the accident was man-made.

He was the accident, after all.

Leila, who had just taken a sip of her wine, choked and placed the champagne glass on the table.

“Sorry about that,” Nicolai apologized to Leila with a dashing smile.

“It’s fine,” Leila waved her hand dismissively. After all, she dared not to accept Nicolai’s apology.

Nicolai then turned to look at the rest of the people sitting at the table before remarking, “But I have never seen something as disgusting as this.”

He didn’t know how it happened but as soon as Ariana and him sat down, Noah came looking for them like a dog searching for bone. Once he came, Ariel soon arrived as well like a tick attached to that very dog.

When Ariel arrived, Glynn Nelson also came together with her. Which wasn’t surprising as the two of them were indeed pests that needed urgent annihilation.

Might as well throw their ashes in the sea because these two were that toxic. Noin fact, it was better to have them dumped in space, their world had enough trash without these two added to the mix.

However, the toxicity didn’t stop just there. As Leila was Ariana’s friend, it was only natural that she came looking for Ariana. But there was a slight—— no major problem because with her came someone who needed to kiss his ass when he was shitting.

Disgusting? But so was Ryan’s presence. Did anyone hear him complaining yet?

“I do not see your name written on this table, Nicolai,” Ryan turned to look at the man who was staring at him as if he were contemplating whether to squash him under his foot or not. “This table is not designated to or for anyone.”

“I know. I just thought that some people would know how little they are wanted and would stay away,” he was looking at Noah and Ariel while speaking.

It was one thing that they made Ariana uncomfortable, but it was completely, utterly and disgustingly shocking how Ariel was acting as if she had never done anything wrong towards Ariana.

This entire situation was so bizarre that Nicolai could not understand any of it. Because he didn’t deal with people like Ariel and when he did, it was a shot straight to the head.

Ariel smiled back at Nicolai when she noticed him glaring at her. However, inwardly, she wasn’t as unbothered as she made herself look.

A few months back, when that thug had called and told her that Ariana knew Nicolai, she had laughed at the notion. How could her silly little sister who had nothing ever meet with someone like Nicolai de Luca?

But now as they sat next to one another, while Nicolai so openly protected Ariana, Ariel felt as if a ball of fire was stuck in her throat which she could neither spit nor swallow.

‘What did Ariana do to meet with this man?’ Ariel gritted her teeth feeling more and more restless while sitting in her seat.

“It seems like you have some misunderstandings towards me, Mister de Luca,” Ariel said to Nicolai with a sweet smile on her face.

“Unless you have a twin sister, and she was the one kissing this preppy boy despite knowing that he was married, I don’t think that there was any sort of misunderstanding,” Nicolai volleyed back smoothly, causing the smile on Ariel’s lips to stiffen.

Ariel glanced at Ariana, at other times like this she would have wrapped her taunts in subtle sweet words and taunted Ariana for acting like a tattletale.

But she decided to change her tactics. She had a feeling that Nicolai could see through things much more clearly than Noah.

No, it would be wrong to say that Noah couldn’t see through things clearly. It was just that he was the victim of his grudges and anger that he blamed Ariana without questioning anything.

Nicolai did not share those grudges.

“I wondered what I have done wrong to deserve such words,” Ariel lowered her head with a slight furrow between her brows. “Really Ari, I know that you were upset, but I told you that it was just a little game that we were playing.”

“I cannot believe that you brought such matters in front of Mister de Luca. You should have been a tad bit more tactful and spoken to me if you were upset, if it was an apology that you wanted, I would have given you.”

Her lips curled up ever so slightly as Ariel brought her handkerchief close to her eyes and continued with her blabbering, “Truly, I understand that you have always been a headstrong woman, but there are times when you have to be a bit more flexible. I am worried that if you continue to act in such a way you would be stuck living the life of a spinster.”

“That’s enough, Ariel,” Leila spoke to the woman who was too engrossed in her act way too deeply.

“I am sorry, if this is what makes you happy, then I am willing to apologize to you. But I still have to say that I am quite upset with the fact you shared such embarrassing information with someone you are not even close with.”

“Ariel.”

“All, I am saying is that if there is no need for you to look for some self-validation from somewhere else. You might as well look for me, we are sisters in the end. I would have preferred that.”

Ariana sucked in a breath, she closed her eyes and prepared to stand up. She knew that with Ariel saying these things everyone was going to side with her, she was about to leave, but before she could do that——
