Chapter 301: Countdown to the revelation
Ariana raised her head and looked at the man who was holding her hand. Her heart thumped lightly as she slowly looked away from Nicolai who was not facing her. But made no move to pull her hand away from him.
Because she was worried that she might end up doing something that Ariana knew that she would regret.
Since she couldn’t do anything about Ariel trying to win the sympathy of others, Ariana tuned her out.
Don’t think about her.
Stop listening to what was going on around her.
This had worked every time in the past, and it worked this time around as well but at that moment Ariana instead of focusing on the smallest speck of dirt, she was focusing on the warm hand that was covering her own.
“It seems like you are quick on jumping to conclusions just as you are jumping in the arms of a married man,” Nicolai smilingly said to Ariel, who raised her head and looked at him through teary eyes.
“Mister de Luca——”
“It’s not Ariel who came in between my brother and that bitch,” Glynn spoke harshly causing Nicolai to turn and look at her as if he were already choosing the colour of her coffin.
Noah flinched upon hearing the rude words with which Glynn was speaking to Ariana.
Glynn had her arms crossed and even though she was a bit deterred by the look that Nicolai gave her, she still raised her head and said to him, “It’s her who came in between my brother and Ariel. I have no idea what kind of load of bullshit you have heard, but there is no need for you to speak so rudely to Ariel—— and I——”
“How about a game of truth and dare?” Brandon turned to look at the rest of the table rushing he said what came to his mind.
His expression was calm, and his lips curled in a smile, but Brandon was not as calm on the inside. Inwardly, he was cursing Glynn in a rapid-fire motion.
He only interrupted Glynn as he could sense murderous intent oozing from Nicolai’s skin.
If Glynn didn’t stop, then her heart certainly would. So, Brandon bit the bullet and jumped on the wagon on which Glynn was riding before she crashed and fell in the pit dug by everyone’s truly Nicolai de Luca.
Though he knew that Glynn was quite similar to Noah in many ways, he didn’t know that she was miles ahead of her brother when it came to partially observing things and selectively believing facts she wanted to trust.
At the same time, he was surprised that Noah had made no move to confront Ariel.
‘What is he thinking? Why didn’t he say anything to either Glynn or Arie?’ Brandon couldn’t help but question inwardly.
He could understand that confronting Ariel could have been difficult due to the many years of relationship, but Noah could have told the truth to Glynn at least.
However, Noah was too quiet. It was both terrifying and vexing which made Brandon ponder his friend’s true intentions.
Glynn glared at Brandon for interrupting her, she wasn’t done scolding Ariana yet but upon seeing Nicolai’s gaze with which he was looking at her, she no longer continued.
With a snort, she muttered, “Whatever.”
Brandon heaved a sigh of relief and turned to look at Nicolai and the rest of the people sitting around the table. He cursed Noah for staying quiet in his heart before saying, “There is still time for the cake to be cut, why don’t we play a little truth and dare game?”
“Sure,” Ariel was quick to agree because she couldn’t deal with Nicolai. That man didn’t play by the rules, and she had a feeling that if she were to force his hand, Nicolai might just ruin everything for her.
Ariel wasn’t prepared to lose control at that moment. Her eyes flickered to the servant who was walking over to their table.
She took out her phone and checked the time, her eyes soon filled with glee when she noticed that the server was right on time.
The server walked over to their table and served them their drinks before placing a glass filled with a light pink drink in front of Ariana.
As he pulled away and straightened up, his gaze met with Ariel, but then he looked away and sauntered to another table with the tray in his hand.
No one noticed anything as it happened too quickly.
Nicolai shrugged while Ariana simply gave a light hum. Neither of them was interested in this game but for some reason as Nicolai stared at Ariel’s eagerness to change the topic, a wicked thought came to his mind.

Leila, on the other hand, didn’t seem comfortable with the game and refrained from participating while Ryan stared at her for a long time upon hearing her refusal, and he refused to look away making Leila uncomfortable.
Seeing the discomfort of her friend, Ariana turned her head sideways and glared at Ryan, who looked away.
Nicolai was sitting right next to Ariana, and he noticed her turn her face and glare at Ryan which only made him curious.
He knew that Ryan was on Ariana’s hit list, but he believed it was because this man was Noah’s best friend upon seeing how protective she was being towards Leila while stopping Ryan from talking to her ——
Nicolai knew that there was more to the story.
“Then shall we start?” Nicolai heard Brandon say as the man raised his hand and called for a server.
A tall and lanky man, who was dressed in the uniform of the server, walked over to where Brandon was sitting. He lowered his back slightly such that he could hear what Brandon was saying and politely asked, “How may I help you, Sir?”
“Bring an empty bottle of wine, please,” Brandon asked politely as he believed that every person deserved respect.
The server obliged and soon brought an empty bottle of wine which Brandon placed on the table and twisted it around. He knew better than to question ‘who wants to go first’ from this bunch of childish adults.
As the bottle came to a stop at Ariana, Brandon decided to give his friend a small opportunity.
He paused for a beat before asking Ariana, “Have you ever been in love?”
