Chapter 309: Splintering Emotions
Ariana stood in the restroom of the Nelson mansion. She stared at the oval-shaped mirror while holding both sides of the basin in front of her.

“What’s happening to me?” She mused, feeling a burning sensation at the bottom of her core. It made her feel severely weak and winded.

Ariana’s thoughts were muddled, and the control she was proud of was splintering into cracks.

“What the fuck is going on?” Ariana brought her hand to her face and pressed the heel of her palm on her forehead as she looked at her reflection, which was getting more and more blurry with each passing second.

Something was very wrong with her.

‘I need to go back home,’ Ariana had been sharp when it came to sensing danger.

Like how she knew when to lower her head in front of her mother, like how she knew how to plead with Noah when he refused to show her the respect that she deserved.

Just like that, she knew that she needed to leave. Ariana was about to pull the stopper that she had placed in the hole of the basin to stop the water from draining when——

The sound of the door opening echoed behind her, Ariana hardly turned on her feet when someone rushed at her.

“You fucking bitch!” Ariel roared as she tackled Ariana, who stumbled but did not fall on the floor. However, Ariel took advantage of this opportunity and curled her long fingers around Ariana’s neck.

She pushed her sister against the wall with a harsh thud, causing Ariana to grunt in pain.

“What are you doing?” Ariana asked through gritted teeth. She looked at Ariel who was choking her and tried to unwrap her fingers which were holding her in place.

Ariana’s eyes were fixed on Ariel’s face. There was not an ounce of sympathy or love for her little sister, this woman —— if she did not get away from her, Ariel would truly kill her in her agitation.

“This is something that I should be asking you!” Ariel snapped harshly as she pulled Ariana forward before smashing her again on the wall. “Why did you not tell me or our mother that you were hurt and received a scar on your back?”

“Were you holding the information from us all these years because you wanted to see me become a joke in the higher society like this?” Her voice was low and threatening.

Ariana groaned in pain, feeling a sharp ache in her spine and the back of her head, as Ariel had not held back when she pushed her just now.

“I never wanted that to happen,” Ariana tried to speak. At the same time, she tried to fend off the ink that was attempting to cover her eyes. “I did try to tell you, but you and Mom were too busy enjoying the riches that you received from the Nelson family.”

“You were too excited to become Noah Nelson’s friend…where will —— cough —— get the time to care for your sick sister?”

Ariel continued to glare at her, making sure that her sister would stay where she wanted Ariana to be.

“Maybe if you had died, then nothing like this would have happened,” Ariel gritted out hatefully. “Even if the truth had come out, then I wouldn’t have been considered a liar. Noah would have still loved me.”

“He never loved you,” Ariana said to Ariel. She raised her head and glared at the woman who was acting out of the line just because she didn’t get what she wanted. “He was in love with the little girl who saved him.”

“His emotions towards you festered from the fact that you lied to him and told him that you placed your life on the line to save his life. Do you think you would ever have a chance if not for that lie?” Ariana questioned her elder sister, who grew even more angry.

“Shut up!” Ariel roared. She dug her nails into Ariana’s neck until blood seeped out from Ariana’s skin. “You know nothing. So what if you were the one who saved him, it was I who loved him … .it was I who craved him and begged him to marry like a desperate woman.”

“You, on the other hand, have been too chaotic —— one second you would beg him but the other second you would turn cold and turn your back on Noah. Every so often I even wondered if you loved him —— because if you did, then would you have so resolutely cut him off?”

“Because I can never do that!”

“You better clean this mess for me. I don’t care how you do it but push Noah back to me, I want him! I cannot do without him. Since you are so prideful to not desire a man, then give him to me.”

“Disappear from this city if that’s what it takes, do you understand?”

“Even if it means that you would have to give up on your life, do it! Because you owe me this Ariana! You owe me your life, Mama said that you will live and die for me—— so die! I want to die!” Ariel screamed hysterically.

Live and die for her? On what basis? Ariana thought, her eyes turning dark as the ink underneath her feet climbed and twisted over her body.
