Ariana headbutted Ariel, and the two women winced simultaneously, which made Ariel loosen her grip on Ariana’s throat.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Ariana knotted a large chunk of Ariel’s hair and pulled her away from her.

“Ahhh! What are you doing?” Ariel gasped in pain as she let out a sharp yell. She was fine with making Ariana suffer in pain but when it was her turn, Ariel couldn’t bear it.

“Let go of me, I told you to let go of me…if you do not listen to me, then I will tell Mama what you did, you will be punished Ariana,” Ariel threatened Ariana their mother when she saw that the woman was not letting go of her hair.

Ariel reminded her, “Have you forgotten? There was one time you wore a dress that I liked. Mama pushed you inside water filled barrel. Ahh! I still remember your sweet screams as you begged to be pulled out.”

“Do you want a repetition of that?”

When Ariana heard Ariel’s words, she paused and Ariel’s lips curled into a smug smile. She then said in a cajoling voice, “If you let go of me then I will certainly not say a word to Mama.” Of course, she was lying, she would certainly tell everything to Mrs. Harlow and enjoy the sight of Ariana’s punishment.

It would be fucking fantastic if her mother sent Ariana to the bed of the man she had been sold off to.

Ariana stayed quiet for a while and Ariel thought that her threats had worked, only until they did not.

She felt Ariana pull her hair once again as she started dragging towards the basin which was filled with water.

“What——What do you think you are doing?” Ariel shrieked when she realized that there was something wrong. Ariana—— even though she was still the same woman, her eyes seemed dangerous.

“You have been yapping about how I owe you this and that,” Ariana spoke in a voice alight with cold fury.

She raised Ariel’s head and shoved it inside the cold water which was filled inside the basin. “Have you forgotten that the fees of your college, the repair of our home? The debts that father owed, the dresses that mother bought —— they were all paid by me?”

Each time she counted a debt that she had repaid Ariana would raise her arm and bring Ariel’s face out of the basin before pushing it back down once the woman was done gasping for a few gulps of air.

“Even the comforts you enjoyed by presenting yourself as Noah’s saviour were given to you by me. Who do you think is paying the ten million dollar debt right now?” Ariana questioned Ariel while shoving her face inside the basin, causing Ariel to turn breathless.

Ariel banged her hands on the side of the water-filled basin as she tried to struggle against Ariana’s grip.

Her gasps and moans filled the room as bubbles started to froth on the surface of the water.

Ariana watched Ariel struggle, but she did not seem to be looking at the woman who was on the verge of drowning.

Her eyes were blank and her expression cold, it wasn’t until she raised her head and looked in a mirror did Ariana snapped out of her daze.

Gasp!

Her eyes widened as she stared at her bloodied reflection before she pulled her hand away from Ariel’s throat.

Ariel coughed and sputtered as her knees gave away. She knelt on the ground and cried out loud while clutching her throat as she tried to draw in as much breath as possible.

She scampered away from Ariana while eyeing her warily. Her chest rose and fell while gazing at Ariana blankly.

“Mama… Mama was right, you are indeed a monster,” Ariel gasped as she looked at Ariana fearfully. “You are a jinx!”

Ah. She did it again.

Ariana looked at her trembling hands and clenched her fingers. The emotions that she should have controlled seemed to have erupted.

‘It’s alright,’ she thought as she walked past Ariel in a flurry. Not caring about her sister who was dripping with water. ‘At least I didn’t kill anyone…at least there is no blood this time around…it happened because of the heat of the moment. I am fine —— I am fucking fine.’

The sound of a bomb getting closer to exploding echoed in her ears and Ariana ignored it, like she had ignored all other signs. It must be due to the alcohol that she drank just now.

Or else she wouldn’t have lost control of her emotions.

Ariana opened the door of the restroom and walked away as if she were being chased by something. Ariel, who sat on the floor of the restroom, was too scared to say anything, much less stop Ariana.

She covered her throat and coughed while muttering, “She is crazy…that woman —— she has lost her mind.”

The door of the restroom closed and the entire corridor was filled with an eerie silence.

However, as soon as the door closed, Penelope who was hiding in the corner stepped out. She was nibbling on the nail of her thumb. Earlier, she saw Ariel rush over to the restroom and thus hurried over to take a look.

Even though Penny had no desire to return to her family. She was still curious to know what kind of person her family members were.

Thus, she hid outside and eavesdropped on the conversation going on inside the restroom.

She didn’t know what happened inside, but she heard the words that Ariel said to Ariana as well as Ariana’s response.

And there was only one thing she learned from their conversation was——

“I can never let them know that they mistakenly took the wrong child home,” Penny was now glad that she was taken away by the Ashford family. The entire Harlow family was crazy!

How could Ariel demand her sister to die? How could she say such despicable words with so much confidence?

More importantly, Penny was worried that if Ariel ever found out that she tried to entice Noah —— with her crazy obsession, that the woman might hurt her severely.

She had to hide the truth about her lineage no matter what!

Penny’s eyes glinted with a dangerous gleam as the cogs in her head started to turn.
