Chapter 321: Ashford Brothers (2)
********
Outside the ward, Keon stood there without moving. His expression was filled with distraught as he pressed his fist against his forehead. How he wished he could have saved Millie from her sufferings.
“Mister Keon, are you alright?” Dorman asked Keon, who nodded and raised his head. He was about to say something, but then his gaze met with Emil.
His youngest brother was more than terrified when his gaze met with Keon’s.
Keon looked at Emil, then he looked at his hospital gown. His gaze then fell on the overly large plaster on Emil’s left foot, and his handsome face turned pouchy and purple.
“Emil Ashford!” Keon shouted angrily. He launched himself to grab hold of Emil’s collar, but there was no way Emil would let himself be caught without a fight.
He turned around on his feet and hobbled away.
Keon didn’t let Emil run away from him, he immediately chased after his brother and with one of his legs broken and covered in plaster, it did not take long for Emil to be caught.
“Oww! Oww! Not the ear! Not the ear, you know I am sensitive there,” Emil moaned in pain, his head was strangely lopsided as Keon pulled him to the ward where he was admitted.
“Shut up! Now you know what it means to get hurt and feel pain? Why didn’t you stop to think how much it would hurt if you were to get into an accident? How many times have I told you not to go over speed?” Keon reprimanded his younger brother.
As he knew that Emil was addicted to driving at full speed, he knew why and how this man got himself admitted to the hospital.
Emil immediately closed his mouth, but his expression was full of reluctance.
Keon, however, did not pay attention to him and had him dragged back to the ward where he pushed his brother on the bed.
With his hands crossed in front of him, Keon grilled Emil, “When did you come to this city, and how did you get into an accident? I suppose Mother asked you to be careful, and you promised as well.”
“Emil, when will you grow up? It is one thing that you keep taking unwanted risks, but it’s another thing that you keep this from us. Do you know how upset I am right now? My own brother met with a life-threatening accident, and yet, he didn’t even think it was necessary to inform his big brother.”
“Wait—— wait! What do you mean by that?” Emil questioned as he raised his head and looked at his brother. “When did I not inform you? I will agree to everything else, but I assure you that I did text you.”
Text…?
“When did you text me?” Keon questioned, causing Emil to bristle.
“When did I not? I texted you on the very next day when I woke up from my surgery,” Emil stated with a pout, his eyes blazing with anger. “But you not only left me on seen, you never contacted me again.”
Keon furrowed his brows. He was certain that he could hear every word that was coming out of his brother’s mouth but at the same time, he couldn’t understand anything.
“I never read any messages!” Keon interrupted the complaints of Emil.
“Hah!” Emil scoffed and pointed at Keon angrily. “I knew it, you read my message and forgot all about them, right? How can you when I asked you to do something so important?”
As he spoke he rummaged around in the small cabinet, before picking up his phone. He then tapped on his screen before showing the messages that he had sent to Keon the last time.
“See? I have evidence to prove my point.”
“Innocence, Emil…you need to use innocence in this scenario,” Keon corrected his brother as he took his phone and read the messages that Emil had sent him.
It was just as Emil said to him, he indeed texted him to tell that he was at the Lonest City and underneath those messages——
Keon’s eyes widened as he glanced at the image of the woman that Emil sent him.
At first, Keon could not believe his eyes, but as he continued looking at the image he realized that he was indeed not hallucinating.
The woman in the picture looked extraordinarily similar to his mother. Even her eyes resembled his father, if not for the fact that Keon knew that his parents loved every single child of theirs, his mind would have cooked up a story worthy of a soap opera.
“She looks like the perfect love child of our parents, doesn’t she?” Emil remarked from the side.

“Who is she?” Keon asked with a frown, for he was certain that he had never seen this woman in his life, and yet, she felt strangely family to him.
Emil shrugged and then casually leaned back on his bed, “She is a doctor in training in this hospital. Ariana —— that’s her name, she was the one who saved me when many of the doctors nearly gave up after seeing my injuries.”
Hearing the response of his brother, Keon frowned even more.
This woman was from Lonest City?
The suspicions in his heart became more intense and confusing.
“Keon, does it not feel weird?” Emil said to Keon. “We have a sister, but she does not resemble our parents at all, our father did say that Penny resembled grandmother but —— let’s be honest other than having blond hair and green eyes, Penny doesn’t share any of the attributes of our Ashford family.”
“And then there is this woman who looks so much like our parents that it is not even funny.”
He then raised his head and turned it to the side, “But why did you not respond to me the last time?”
Because he never saw these texts.
Keon pinched the space between his brows. However, he didn’t say anything to Emil as he knew that this man was used to acting impulsively.
He hoped that it was nothing like he was suspecting but at the same time, Keon had a feeling that his suspicions were bound to come true.
“Don’t tell anyone about this matter to anyone yet,” said Keon with a stern voice. “Pretend as if you have forgotten about this already.”
In case Penny was to sense something amiss, with her personality she was bound to do something.
