Chapter 325: Carrying the blame (2)
***********************************************
The sound of a crisp slap echoed in the Nelson mansion. Everyone turned to look at Noah and Glynn.
Noah’s hand was still raised in the air while Glynn’s head had turned to one side. Her eyes were wide in shock as Glynn raised her hand and touched her cheek, which had been slapped by her brother.
This was the second time her brother had slapped her, and yet, it stung just as harshly as the first time.
Glynn blinked her eyes slowly, raised her head and turned her face around so that she could look at Noah.
“Why?” She asked in a soft voice before anger surged in her heart and she questioned Noah, “Why did you slap me? What did I ever do to you?”
“What did you do?” Noah repeated in a deadly cold voice. He slightly shook his head and questioned, “You do not know what you did?”
‘Did he find out about the hoodlums that I hired?’ Glynn thought as her heart skipped a few beats.
“What’s going on?” Mrs Mia looked at her son and then turned her head to the left such that she was looking at Glynn. “What did you do now?”
Glynn, who was slapped, was shocked at first but when she heard her mother question her, a surge of anger started coursing in her veins.
She turned to look at her mother and questioned angrily, “Why do you always think I did something wrong? He could be in the wrong as well. Why do you never question him, Mom?”
Glynn asked her mother with a heartbreaking note in her voice.
Mrs Mia frowned. She then turned her attention to Noah and said fondly, “Because your brother has never troubled me or your father. He grew up as a polite and respectful son. With him, I can be reassured that he would never do anything wrong, as Noah would die rather than let me down.”
She then turned to look at Glynn and her expression turned solemn. “You, on the other hand, have been a source of worry about me and your father.”
Mrs Mia ignored the crushed look on the face of her daughter and turned to look at Noah before asking, “What did she do now, Noah?”
“Who did what ?” Killian, who had just returned after sending the guests off, entered the mansion and heard his wife’s question. He then asked his question, “What’s going on here?”
“Noah——”
“She drugged Ariana,” before Mrs Mia could finish speaking, Noah answered the question of his father.
A deadly silence ensued after Noah finished speaking. From Mister Adrien to Jeremy everyone stiffened and turned quiet as they turned to look at Noah and then their gazes fell on Glynn.
Glynn, on the other hand, was just as shocked as the others. She had indeed hired hoodlums, but she never asked them to drug Ariana.
When and how did it even happen?
Even if it did, it had nothing to do with her!
“Glynn…how could you?” Mister Adrien knew a mishap had taken place because Ariana would have never broken her promise.
“I——I didn’t, he is lying!” Glynn felt like an unprepared child who was standing under a really bright spotlight. “I never —— I didn’t ask anyone to drug her!”
In fact, she was already thinking of helping Ariana before Noah came.
How could she do such a thing when she was feeling immensely guilty already?
Noah did not bother to quibble with her. Instead, he took out the phone of the hoodlum which he had brought with him and turned the screen of the phone for Glynn to see.
“Is this not your number?” Noah asked as he turned the screen for Glynn to read the messages displayed on the screen.
At first, Glynn was about to say no right away, but that was until she read the number at the top of the screen followed by the messages.
Her complexion started to turn more and more pale with each passing second. Glynn’s lips trembled as she refused to admit, “It’s not me. I swear it’s not me…my phone was stolen during the party. I didn’t do it, please believe me.”

She was willing to admit that she had sent the first message, but the rest of it had nothing to do with her.
In fact, she didn’t even know where the second message popped out from, for Glynn had never texted the hoodlums again.
Glynn looked at her family while trembling. “Please—— I did not do it.” However, no one was willing to trust her. They all looked at Glynn with stony faces.
“Then how did these texts appear on the phone of the hoodlum?” Noah pressed Glynn who trembled even more and admitted, “I —— I did send the first message, but I swear I did not send the other ones… I have no idea where they came from.”
The cold air from the air conditioner passed through the main hall causing Glynn to tremble even more. Noah watched Glynn with a blank expression, he brought his hand down to his side.
Three minutes passed by just like that, with Noah staring down at Glynn who looked down at her feet while trembling like a little sheep.
“Do you realize how far-fetched what you are saying sounds, Glynn?” Noah finally asked his sister, whose face turned even more red.
Suddenly, she was reminded of a small incident that she had planned with Ariel ages ago.
‘Ah, are you making lunch? What is this? Mushroom soup?’ Glynn, who stood inside the kitchen, questioned. She was looking at Ariana who was eyeing her warily.
After a short pause, Ariana nodded and replied with a light smile, ‘Yes.’
However, she continued to look at Glynn with a suspicious glance.
‘What, are you looking at me like that?’ Glynn narrowed her eyes and sneered.
‘It’s nothing.’
‘Do you think that I am here to trouble you?’ Glynn asked with a tilt of her head, and Ariana trembled. The woman looked at her and pleaded, ‘Please don’t do anything, Glynn. Many guests are coming today, if you ruin the lunch … I will be punished gravely by Mom.’
Her words caused Glynn to laugh. She was amused by the fact that Ariana actually thought that her pleads would move her heart.
Hearing her laugh, a look of worry and dread entered Ariana’s eyes, but before she could do anything Glynn turned the pot of mushroom soup onto the floor.
