Chapter 339: Ten millions in exchange of gold (2)
Ariana smiled as she looked at the white chocolate bar in her hands.
“Nothing is better than chocolate, eh?” Ariana remarked as she raised her head and shot a teasing smile at Naomi.
“Of course,” said the young woman with a proud expression. “I eat three of them in an hour when I am dealing with some troublesome and rude patients. It helps a lot.”
“Even when it does nothing to curb your headaches?” Ariana asked as he raised a brow, and Naomi looked offended by her response.
“Goodness… who said that? They help a lot at least I haven’t punched someone in the face even after being called a bunch of names, just try it once Doctor Harlow,” Naomi said to Ariana who chuckled and offered a wave to her before walking past the woman.
She wanted to go back home and get a shut-eye where she wouldn’t have to worry about anything, having gone through a storm of her own.
The beliefs that she had seemed to have been shattered bit by bit and Ariana had no idea how to cope with her crumbling world.
At that moment, she felt like she was stranded. While the world collapsed around her, Ariana could do nothing.
With her fingers, she tore open the packaging of the white chocolate bar and a bit into it.
Just as she had taken a bite of it, Ariana heard someone call her from behind.
“Ariana Harlow?”
Ariana halted and turned around when she saw a woman standing behind her. The woman spoke to her,
“You are Ariana Harlow, right?”
“That’s right,” Ariana answered while munching the chocolate in her mouth. Even though she did not know who this woman was, she still politely asked, “How can I help you?”
The woman standing in front of her smiled. She turned to look at the man who stood behind her and held her hand out.
No sooner did she do that, than the man handed her the stack of papers that he was carrying for the woman.
“I am Penelope Ashford,” the woman introduced herself with a simpering smile. “These are my medical records, as you can see.”
She handed the stacks of papers to Ariana, who frowned and took them. She could not understand why the woman was meeting with her in the parking lot and talking about her health here.
However, Ariana still did not refuse the woman. She took a look at the medical records of Penelope and realized that the woman had a congenital heart.
“This is not something I can help you with,” Ariana said to the woman as she closed the medical records of the woman. “You should meet with Doctor Aiden regarding this situation. There is nothing I can do to help you, Miss Ashford.”
Penelope laughed without looking offended. She said to Ariana, “Oh, but you can help me, Doctor Harlow.”
“I don’t think I—” Ariana began but was interrupted by Penelope who said, “By offering me your heart.”
…?
Ariana felt an imaginary crow flying past her head. She waited for the woman to say that she was only joking, but instead, she saw the woman take out a check from her purse.
“This is a check of ten million dollars,” said Penelope as if she were talking about how nice the weather was and how bright the moon was while shining up ahead of their heads. “I know that you are currently in a lot of debt, this check can help you and your family. All you need is to agree to become my live donor.”
“You want me to become your live donor and hand over my heart?” Ariana asked slowly as she took the check from Penelope whose eyes lit up when she saw Ariana take the check.
Sure enough the poor had no foresight, they would sell their soul if it meant to live a decent life. They were unlike her who had a silver spoon from the second she was born.
“That’s right,” Penelope said with a sweet smile on her lips. She fluttered her lashes before nodding to the woman in front of her. She said to her, “I know that it’s a bit too much, but you know what Miss Harlow? Sometimes death is kinder. As you have such a big debt, I don’t think you will ever be able to pay it back.”
“Why not use this pitiful life of yours to make the future of your family better? I promise that I will take care of your family for you.” Of course that was a lie, once she got what she wanted Penelope would never even look in the direction of that family.
Though Penelope knew that she was rushing a lot of things, she knew that she had a time limit. Sooner or later, Emil would meet with Keon and tell him about this woman.

She could not let her brothers investigate Ariana and even if they somehow managed to find the truth, what could they do if Ariana was dead?
Would they tell their parents that their real daughter was dead? Of course not. They would have to not only keep her secret but also protect it with their lives.
It was a perfect way to deal with her troubles.
Just last night when she was enjoying the banquet, she had called Mateo and the man had refused to bring her back to the penthouse.
It was simply humiliating to hire a taxi, but she had no other choice as neither Keon nor Mateo could be reached.
‘This is how they are treating me when they don’t know I am not their real sister. If they were to find out the truth, who knows how they will treat me?’ Penelope thought worriedly.
This was why she chose to make a move.
An amazed look settled on Ariana’s face. She raised her brows pointed to the psychiatric department and said,
“It seems like a weak congenital heart, you also have some problem with your head, Miss Ashford. You can go left and take right, there you will see Doctor Stoll and you can talk to him about your delusions.”
Penelope was so shocked upon hearing the words of Ariana that she found it difficult to put the smile back on her face at that moment. To be called a fool by someone who was beneath her in status and fame, she felt like she had been force-fed sour lemon.
