Chapter 357: Brother’s warning (2)
“Penelope, listen carefully because I will say this once and only this once…if you make the mistake of repeating these horrible actions of yours then you might as well be prepared to face the consequences of your actions,” said Kevin his voice was low but the unwavering gaze with which he was looking at Penelope was blazing.

The threat in his voice did not go unnoticed as Keon continued speaking, “I know you are drunk on the security and power that the Ashford name brings to you but these things that you enjoy come with a price that you are not quite eager to pay. If you dare to do what you did again, then I will make sure that this name which you are proud of will be stripped clean from you.”

Penelope knew that Keon was sharper than the rest of her brothers, but she did not think that he would say such harsh words to her just because he caught her harming a woman who had nothing to her name.

However, she knew that there were some things that she could not say, so Penelope sucked in a breath and said,

“I was just trying to find a way to survive Keon,” her tone was sobbing as she sniffed. “I don’t want to die, Keon. I am running out of options at this point, and neither you nor our parents seem to be looking for a way to make me get better.”

“I just—”

“You don’t need to show me your tears Penny,” deadpanned Keon. “Keep them for when you meet our parents, you can cry all you want then and also explain why you did such a horrifying thing.”

The sobbing indeed came to a sudden halt as Penelope raised her head and looked at Keon with a horrifying sort of expression.

“You—you are going to tell our parents about this?” She had never expected this, her brothers though not on her good side had left her alone. They have been indifferent to her actions as long as she did not bring any harm to the name of the Ashford family.

This was her first time hearing Keon say that he was going to bring her atrocities in front of their parents.

Keon nodded and that was when Penelope felt something snap inside of her.

“Why! For a woman who means nothing, who has nothing—”

“Because you are getting worse day by day!” Keon snapped harshly interrupting Penelope who was going on and on about how he was trying to do her in all and that too because of a grudge that was years old.

“At first only the cases of simple bullying were brought home by you, I thought you have gone better than when you were a child. Learned how to keep that temper of yours in check, who would have thought that you are still the same!”

“But this is not a matter of killing a canary or a cat! This is a serious matter of killing a human, Penny. Do you know how many hours I have to spend to suppress the news? Many of the news accounts already purchased the news —I had to spend millions to get them to delete this information!”

“It could have brought our family name to the ground! The company would have lost more than one business partner. And our reputation! Our grandparents spent their youth building this family, and you nearly caused it to be ruined in a night.”

“But you stopped it, so why are you—”

“Because you have lost your damn mind. Or are you so selfish that you cannot see what you are doing?” He pinched the bridge of his nose and exhaled sharply, “Penelope, some things do not belong to you, and they will never belong to you even if you desire them. So instead of trying to make them yours, be happy and content with what you have.”

“You will return to Clover City, for the next four months you are grounded. If you dare leave the house or decide to do something like this again, I will be the one calling the police?”

Hearing Keon’s words, Penelope’s face hardened and she clenched her teeth. She watched as Keon shook his head and walked past her like he was too tired to deal with her. His words were still ringing inside of her head.

He was mistaken, there was no way she was going to be content with what she had. If she couldn’t snatch it at the first trial, she would make a second attempt and a third.

She would continue until she got what she wanted. For she was Penelope Ashford, the only princess of the Ashford family.

Her eyes stared at Keon’s back and they narrowed subtly. It doesn’t seem like Keon had seen Ariana, or else her brother wouldn’t be this calm.

It seemed like it was a close miss.

Keon, who had stepped inside his room, sank on his bed. He raised his hands and covered his face, “I am sorry. I am so sorry, Ari. Your brother was late —but don’t worry, this was the last time. I will make sure to find the person behind these schemes and very soon bring you back.”

“To our home.”

“What is wrong with me, you ask?” Nicolai chuckled as if he had heard some hilarious joke. “Princess, I lose my damn mind whenever you are with me to the point if you were lost in a crowd — I will still find you through your scent alone. So I believe there is a lot wrong with me to put it in words.”

“Are you a dog?” Ariana deadpanned, though she was trying to insult him, she was failing miserably.

“I will be yours if you want me,” Nicolai leaned down and took a long whiff. “Hmm, my dog nose is telling me that you are dripping wet for me.”

“Mister de Luca—” her cheeks flushed red with a furious shade of red, she bit her bottom lip so hard that she nearly pierced her skin.
