Chapter 367: The last push.
On the other side at the front of the apartment building, a well-built man was leaning on his inconspicuous car.
His bloodshot red eyes were locked on the main iron gates, at the same time he was eyeing the security guard with a hint of distaste in his eyes.
“You are lucky that I am not in the mood of spilling blood today,” he said to the man who shivered.
The security guard turned his gaze away from Nicolai and stated, “I am just trying to do my job, sir. You are not the resident of the apartment. Without the key or the permission of the apartment owner, I cannot let you in.”
“Hah!” Nicolai snorted with a sneer playing on his lips. “Is calling the police on me also a part of your duty?”
“Yes, it is, sir. I am a security guard! This is my job, surely you ought to know this right?”
Nicolai’s sneer widened even more as he shrugged and said, “I don’t know. Usually, it’s others who need security when I am present.”
His sneer left the security guard to tremble in fright, he truly had no idea why this man had guarded the doors with him throughout the entire night.
‘Please, anyone come and save me,’ the security guard thought while quaking in his shoes.
Fortunately, his prayers were answered as someone stepped out of the gates and Nicolai turned to look at the person before rushing towards the figure, completely forgetting him.
Ari, who had stepped out of the iron gates, was already looking around. Thus she was not surprised when a large figure cut in front of her, causing her to stop.
Upon seeing the familiar figure, Timmy let out a bark and joyfully jumped into Nicolai’s arms.
Ari watched the man as he took Timmy’s leash from her hand and then raised his head to look at her. There was a savage look in his eyes. As he leaned forward and whispered, “Good morning, Pallas. I hope that you had a wonderful sleep last night. If you want to apologize then you can get on with it, you know?”
She cleared her throat and said, “I don’t think that I need to apologize for anything, Mister de Luca.”
As long as he doesn’t touch her or get close to her, everything will be fine. She didn’t want another person hating and blaming her.
Nicolai ruffled Timmy’s fur as the fire in his eyes turned even more intense. He said to her, “I think I told you to wait for me last night. Can you imagine what I went through when I did not find you where you should have been waiting for me?”
“Not to mention I have been texting and calling you like a freak.”
“I placed my phone on DND.”
“I realized,” Nicolai said dryly. “So I ended up pulling an all-nighter here. Poor O’Flaherty was scared shitless.” He pointed at the security guard who was hiding behind his chair while peering at the two of them.
He then clapped his hands as she stopped looking at the security guard. Furthermore, he said to her as he blew the strands of hair from his forehead, “Now then— look here, Pallas. I really found your push-and-pull game adorable. But you are getting too serious and it is getting annoying. Cut it out before I make you.”
“Mister de—”
“Nico.”
Ari released an exasperated sound before saying, “Nicolai, I don’t know why you are hung up on me. But I think you should look for someone else. We —are incompatible.”
He stared at her before bursting out laughing, the sound made the butterflies in Ari’s stomach come to life.
Stop laughing. Don’t laugh —please don’t it was already hard enough.
“Incompatible,” he sneered as he stopped laughing. “Princess, you came so hard that you messed up my bed covers and mouth. You sucked me off like it was a sport, and you rode my mouth twice.”
“Stop talking,” Ari looked around before dragging Nicolai away from the iron gates where anyone could eavesdrop on their conversation.
She had to send him away. Nicolai was the best thing that had happened to her, she couldn’t watch him getting ruined because of her.
He let her drag him but then —
“What the fuck is this?” Nicolai asked all of a sudden and Ariana looked at the small tears in her hand. She had held on to his hand with the same one with which she had painted for the entire night, causing the calluses to form and break.

She felt the tendrils tickling her and the nausea was gone, replaced with hyperventilation.
“It’s nothing,” snatching her hand back, Ari replied, “I just burned my hand while cooking.”
He narrowed his eyes at her, “Pallas, why does it seem like you are lying? Those calluses don’t look like they were formed by your hand getting burned. And a woman like you who can cook with her eyes closed, got burned?”
Ari watched the concern in his eyes and the frown on his face. He cared for her —this thought came and flashed in her head causing all the wind to be knocked out of her lungs.
His hair rustled in the wind and Ari wished she could touch him again. But she couldn’t—she could feel that she was getting worse by the day. Her control was stripping slowly.
There was a large gaping hole in the prison where she had locked her monsters away.
One that would harm Nicolai.
She couldn’t afford that to happen. Not him. Anyone but him.
“Why are you even chasing me, Nicolai?” She asked with a frown on her lips. “I am not your usual woman. You do not like women with brains. Do you?”
“Do I need a reason to like you?”
“Of course you do.”
“That’s where you have it wrong, Pallas. What kind of attraction is it, if you have to look for something to like? I just want you. This is not a mutually beneficial relationship. I don’t do that, I want you and if you stop overthinking you will know that you do too.”
“No, you don’t. You know nothing about me—”
“Do I not? I know you like your coffee black, but you will not say no to a piece of sugar. You hate sugary desserts but you like spicy food. You also like watching horror movies.”
“But for some reason you don’t watch them, you suppress yourself excessively much Pallas. Like how you suppress your desires and dreams. You like cooking for others, but you also like to laze around, you want to go to the rollercoaster but don’t.”
“You pretend that you have everything in control, but you don’t… you just act like you have everything. But deep down you are lonely because you don’t let anyone close enough. You have friends, but they don’t know the real you, just versions that you have fed them.”
He smirked at Ari’s shocked expression as he leaned forward and wrapped his arm around her waist. “And you also love sucking me, kissing me and holding me.”
“You love my scent, Pallas. Just as much as my presence.”
“I—”
“You don’t want me gone, Pallas. So stop saying that you want me gone.”
“Do I really have to accept you?”
“Unless you want me to haunt you until the day we die, I will suggest you do.”
Ariana bit her lower lip while eyeing him disdainfully and Nicolai licked her cheek.
