Chapter 371: Gunshots (2)
A man with a mask on his face questioned the two men who were now lying on the floor with blood pooling underneath their bodies.
“We—didn’t mean to, boss!” One of the men cried as he held his left leg which had been shot. “We really didn’t. We were aiming for Noah Nelson, just like you asked us. But then that woman jumped in between and pushed him on the floor.”
“Not once did we plan to shoot her…Aarggghhh!!” The man screamed in agony when Master Roman pressed his boot on his wound where the bullet was still lodged.
Master Roman sneered and said, “Who cares about that? Whether you meant to or not, it doesn’t matter! Because at the end of the day, you shot her!”
“Not only did you shoot her, but you also ruined my entire plan! Idiots.”
“Fucking bastards.” He kicked the man who screamed in agony, before turning around on his feet and storming out of the warehouse.
Jordan, his assistant, was waiting for him outside the warehouse. When he saw his boss walking out of the warehouse, Jordan straightened up and chased after Roman.
“What is the situation?” Roman asked darkly. There was a storm brewing in his heart and he had no way to let it out.
The Ashford family was moving too much these days, and he could not afford to make a mistake.
Earlier he had planned to get Noah out of the way as the man had caught the tail of that woman named Ariel, which was not a surprise as he never had any expectations from that silly girl.
With her head which was mostly filled with air and an insufferable arrogance when she had nothing to back it up, Ariel was bound to make a mistake.
The problem was Noah. He had never expected that man to find the truth so soon, Roman wanted him injured as it would solve a lot of his issues.
Not only would it make Noah back down, but he could also pin the blame on the Phantoms. That way both the De Luca and the Nelson families would end up getting engaged in a war.
He was not happy with how Nicolai was getting close to Ariana. All these years of planning, and he couldn’t have that man ruin everything.
But his well-thought plan was broken into pieces by those idiotic hoodlums.
Not once did he think that those idiots would shoot Noah when Ari was with him, causing her to be shot instead!
“The Phantoms have been alerted of course,” answered Jordan as he promptly spoke of the shooting incident. “They are already investigating the attack with Noah’s security team as well. I believe that it will be difficult for us to target Noah again.”
“And what about her? Ari, is she okay?” Roman’s voice softened when he spoke of the woman he had been keeping an eye on for so many years.
Jordan tapped on his phone for two seconds before saying, “It’s nothing serious, though she was shot, the vital organs were not hurt. She is injured but it’s not severe as long as she is given enough blood transfusion—”
“Stop it,” Roman suddenly hissed. Suddenly, a thought that he had forgotten in his worries popped into his head and he stopped in place.
“What did you say, Master Roman?”
“I said stop the blood transfusion! If not, she will find out that her blood group is not A positive but O positive, that will be troublesome as no one in the Harlow family has an O positive blood group!”
“Go and stop it!”
“I—I am on it!”

On the other side at the City hospital,
Aiden was studying the blood reports in front of him with a frown.
‘Why did Ari write that her blood group is A positive when it’s O positive?’ He thought as he finished reading her reports. Why would she note down her blood group wrong? Wasn’t she asking for a mishap to happen?
Fortunately, he had sent her blood group to be checked as a precaution or else—
“Is she alright?” His thoughts were interrupted by Noah who was sitting on the side of Ari’s bed. Even though it had been more than an hour, Noah refused to leave Ari’s side and stubbornly sat next to her.

He insisted that Ari had saved his life and he wanted to be there when she woke up.
“She—”
Aiden had hardly spoken a word when the door of the ward was pushed open with a bang and Nicolai walked inside. His clothes were covered in blood and so was his hair as it was matted with blood and grime.
He resembled the last survivor of a haunted movie.
“What happened? How did she get shot? I met with her this morning, and she was fine,” despite the maniacal glint in his eyes, Nicolai looked like he was on the verge of breaking. He was very pale under the specks of blood and dirt.
He was questioning his cousin and did not pay attention to Noah, but as he turned to look at Ari, his gaze fell on Noah who was sitting at Ari’s bedside. “And what do you think you are doing here?”
The fact that this man came before him and had stayed with Ari longer than he did, left a bitter taste in his mouth.
“She saved my life,” said Noah with a challenging look in his eyes. “I believe that staying by her side until she wakes up is the least I can do?”
“She—she saved you?” Nicolai said, flabbergasted. He turned to look at Ari before turning to look at Noah, something inside of him seemed to snap as he glared at the man. “So you found yourself being useless enough once again for her to save you?”
“More than being useless, I believe that I am the victim of someone’s sinister actions,” Noah sneered. “I really cannot think of anyone apart from you who would stoop so low as to attack me. You did the same thing the last time.”
“Have you lost your damn mind?”
“Not any more than you have lost all your morals and humanity.”
“Fucker—”
“ENOUGH.”
