Chapter 375: The Cruel Truth (2)
“Sold?” Ari repeated, raising her head from the DNA report, her body turning rigid. The last thing she wanted to hear was that she had been sold off.
“Yes, you are. There is no point in denying.”
“So you brought me here to do the dirty work of your mother?” Ari snarled angrily.
Upon hearing her words, Ariel was not angry instead she smirked even more widely. “No, Sam is not the one who bought you. You know what Ari, I think you are too cheap to be sold off to a rich man. You deserve to become a whore of a man and that to the cheapest one.”
Ari’s eyes hardened, and her hands turned pale because she was clutching them too hard. She breathed hard before saying, “That’s some proud words from someone who has been living off after selling me.”
The smile on Ariel’s face flickered, but before she could say anything Ari snapped harshly, “You keep harping about how I am the bane of your existence, but the truth is that everything that you have is all due to me.”
“What do you mean—”
“Your agent contacted me,” Ari said. Since they were hurting each other, then she might as well take a few hits. “She was not satisfied with you which is why she contacted me. It was only when I refused her that she went looking for you.”
“If I am a whore then what about you? Aren’t you relying on me? No matter what, you will always be second to me, Ariel.”
BANG!
Ari felt cold sweat break all over her forehead as she felt pain bloom all over her waist. Ariel had once again kicked her on her wound.
“Save your energy,” said Ariel with hatred etched on her face. “You will need it once Sam comes looking for you.”
Ari heard her tell her, who was walking away from her. Her chest heaved as she shouted, “Then who are my parents?”
“Who knows?” Ariel turned and sneered at her. “Why would I bother investigating them? Anyway, they must be stuck-up, nosy people like you. Though you don’t need to worry about that, you will never be coming out of this place.”
“Alive at least. Sam hasn’t forgotten how you smashed his head with a hockey stick.”
And Ari knew that Ariel was right, if she didn’t get out of this place, she would be dead.
On the other side, at the de Luca mansion Nicolai went straight looking for the one person who could help him.
She was the only one who asked him to not take the pills if they were too much.
Much nicer and more loving than his father, who straight up told him that he needed to go to the asylum as he couldn’t have a twisted ill son near him.
Especially when this twisted son could become a potential threat to him.
“Nico?” The sweet and concerned voice of his mother echoed in his ears as soon as he barged inside the office where Inez worked.
She just stayed quiet for two seconds before Inez jumped on her feet and walked over to where Nicolai stood. With her arms wrapped around his shoulders, she steered him inside.
“Talk to me, Nico.”
“It’s here, mom…” Nicolai told her as he smacked his hand against his head. “It’s in my head, I want to do something. Evil things you know, but I don’t want to not without a reason. I want it to stop Mom, make it stop.”
“Shhh,” Inez helped him on a couch before pouring him a glass of water. “Breathe, son. You are alright.” Her voice was calm and authoritative, but Nicolai heard her affectionate concern under her stern tone.
His mother had been the only one who had truly tried to understand and support him. She understood him when he said that he didn’t want therapy and that he didn’t like spending hours locked with the men in white.
No one else understood him like this.
“You are in control son.”
No, he wasn’t.
Not now. For years, he had been in control but not at that very moment. He was trapped in his head and there was no way out of it, the one who could be unconscious.

And he was here alone teetering on the fucking edge of letting pandemonium on everyone including himself.
“I feel like I am going to break Mom,” said Nicolai as he pulled his hair. “It feels so, so bad. I can feel the haze covering my mind, I cannot hear anything, I can’t see anything. It’s only anger—that’s the only thing that I can feel. Like I just wanted to snap Kayden’s fucking neck off for laughing at me, Mom.”
“And I never ever hurt my family. You know that.”
“Should I arrange for someone to let you off the steam?” Inez asked worriedly. “It can be anything, son.”
“It’s not going to work…I can’t do it,” Nicolai pulled his hair even more until pain shot through his scalp. He can’t sleep with a woman and punching someone was not going to work, he just knew it. Not unless it was a certain preppy boy.
“Why…”
“I don’t know,” Nicolai answered, but his answer was vague.
“Don’t lie to me son,” Inez spoke sternly. “There is something very wrong with you. I can see it—what happened? What made this abrupt change in your life? You were fine until now.”
“For years if I were to count.”
“Something might have…” Nicolai let go of his hair and he could hear his head screaming at him.
“What do you mean by ‘something might’ have? There had to be a reason for this, something must have triggered you like this.”
Fuck.
“It might be …someone.”
“Who?”
“Not of great importance,” Nicolai lied through his teeth because he knew that his mother was just as protective of her as he was of her. She would kill if it meant that he continued smiling.
And Ari lying in a casket was not on his memo at the moment.
“If she is not relevant then get rid of her.”
