Chapter 378: No good unconscious
A chill crawled up Ari’s spine, she looked at the whip in the hands of her old bully before speaking in a trembling voice as she said,
“Ple—please don’t do this. I have already paid for what I have done. I will admit that I made a mistake by hurting you but in exchange, I never told anyone that you dragged and kidnapped me.”
But regardless of what Ari said to him, Samuel didn’t seem to hear her.
She pushed her body back as Samuel stepped close to her. “You are making a mistake. Ariel didn’t tell you that I know Nicolai de Luca, did she?” Ari spoke loudly as she continued pushing herself back until her back hit the wall of the room. “If you touch me, you will regret it, Samuel. He will come for me, he will—AHH!!!”
Samuel glared at her, the whip in his hand attacked Ari on the arm again. He sneered, “Nicolai de Luca? What’s that? Do you think that just by becoming his whore for a night, you have earned some place in his heart?”
“How dare you use the name of that man to scare me?”
Ari shook her head before saying, “I am not. Nicolai, he is my—”
Her remaining words couldn’t be heard as the sound of a whip lashing against her skin echoed loudly across the room along with her screams.
Away from the mansion where Samuel had locked Ari, Keon raised his hand and slapped the man who was supposed to be keeping an eye on Ari and relaying every single bit of what was going on in Ari’s life to him.
“So,” Keon began calmly. “Do you think that your loyalty lies more with Penny than me? Hmm? You are not foolish, Ricky. I am certain that you sensed something and yet instead of the orders that I gave you, you decided to go ahead and ignore every single one of them?”
“Was it fun? Betraying your employer for a woman?”
“I never told Miss Penny about this matter, Master Keon,” said Ricky with his hands clenched on his side.
“That’s because you knew that I would find out,” Keon said dryly. “You were not going to relay anything to Penny without finding everything right? How long has it been going on? When she come to see me six months ago? Or did she charm you with her sweet words the very first time?”
“It must be the very first time,” before Ricky could answer Mateo spoke from behind. He was sitting on the table where Keon worked and fiddling with the paperweight. “Given how Penny likes to make everyone her little puppet. She wouldn’t let a single opportunity slide where she could stray an innocent fowl to the wrong path.”
He hurled the paperweight at Ricky’s forehead causing the man to grunt in pain.
“Especially fools like him. It’s so easy to make them do her bidding,” Mateo snickered. “But who could have expected this? Five-figure salary, and you let a woman ruin everything for you.”
“Master Mateo, I wasn’t thinking clearly. Please do give me another chance—”
“To betray us even fantastically? Bet you didn’t collect enough information right?” Mateo interrupted Ricky who shook his head. But he hesitated for two seconds and that was all they needed to know what was going in the mind of that man.
“Take him away. He had broken several clauses of his contracts, it should be enough for him to be locked up for a long time,” Keon ordered. Two men immediately walked inside the office and caught Ricky by his arms as they started to drag him away.
“No! Master Keon listen to me, I didn’t mean to! I was just momentarily confused, please don’t do this to me! I have been hardworking and loyal to you! Master Keon! Master Keon! MASTER KEON! AHHH.”
The door closed with a muffled thump.
“Have you found any traces?” Mateo suddenly turned businesslike as he glanced at his brother. “How could a woman vanish into thin air out from her ward?” He hadn’t even dealt with Ricky over the fact that he hid the information about Ari being shot when he found out that his sister was kidnapped.
“I have contacted the experts, they will let us know the track of the kidnappers who took Ari away,” said Keon, pinching the bridge of his nose. Never once did he think that even his closest ally would betray him like this.
“Don’t blame yourself,” Mateo said to Keon. “No one would have expected that Penny would even try something like this with your assistant.”
“He should have been wise enough to not let a foolish girl charm him up in ways where he would turn into a fool.”
“Well, Penny can be charming when she wants to be,” remarked Mateo with a frown as he thrust his hands in his pockets and walked over to his brother’s side. “But currently we don’t need to worry about her. I have been keeping an eye on her which means that this has nothing to do with her.”
“But if she didn’t make a move, then who did?” Mateo asked while looking up at his brother.
“We will think about this later on,” said Keon dismissively as he was more worried about Ari’s safety. “First we need to find Ari and ensure her safety.”
“This is why I asked you to bring her home,” said Emil with a pout. He was sitting on the couch with his legs spread as wide as possible while pressing the heels of his palm onto his eyes. “If you had listened to me then nothing like this would have happened.”
“Use your brains, Emil,” said Keon with a frustrated expression. “Do you think that everything that happened was just a coincidence? Our parents who could have chosen the best hospital in the city, somehow turned up at a small hospital in the Lonest City.”

“There is something or someone who is pulling the strings from behind. If we move rashly, then we will only put Ari in even more danger.”
