Chapter 382: Escape
At the same time, in the hospital from where Ari ran away,
“You fucking idiots, how can you leave that woman unsupervised?” Samuel clenched his jaw in frustration as anger started to bubble in his veins.
He didn’t stay in the hospital because he was worried about someone recognizing him.
Not once did he think that the bodyguards that he arranged to keep an eye on Ari would make such a mistake. That woman snuck away from right under their noses and they had no idea!
He ordered, “Find that woman and bring her to me immediately. She shouldn’t have gotten too far, it’s difficult to get a taxi in this area even, though the bus stand is far. With her injuries, she must be somewhere around. Inform everyone, we cannot let her escape!”
If Ari escaped from his grasp, who knows when he would get another chance to find her? He couldn’t believe that Ari dared to even think that she could escape him.
No matter where she was hiding he was going to drag her out of her hiding spot!
Soon the guards arranged by Samuel started to look for the woman who was supposed to be in the hospital ward but had run away.
In the meantime, Ari was trudging past the street. She dared not to walk directly on the street, as she knew that Samuel’s men must be already looking for her. She did not want to make it easy for them to catch her.
So, Ari could only walk on the trails which were far from the main road but not too far. The wound on her abdomen was bleeding once again, and even the skin that had broken due to the whip lashes on her back was also bleeding.
With a painful expression etched on her face, Ari dragged her feet.
When she heard the sound of a car, she quickly hid behind a tree and peered at the car that had stopped not far from where she was hiding.
She had expected Samuel to already be aware of her escape, but when she saw the bodyguards looking around Ari sucked in a breath.
Damn it. She had yet to find a way to get away from this mess, and these men were already looking for her.
Ari thought about it and decided to go further and deeper into the small forest within which the street had been constructed. The further she walked, the more eerie her surroundings became.
The sky slowly turned even darker as the night deepened, with only the moonlight lighting up her path, Ari carefully navigated through the forest.
Her eyes flickered around her surroundings and she jumped at the smallest sound.
She wanted to look for the exit from this forest, but every time she made her way towards the main road, Ari would hear cars roaring on the main road followed by the curses and shouts of the men who were looking for her.
Samuel seemed to have blocked all routes for her to escape. That darned man, Ari cursed in her head.
Ari sat down after walking for hours, she looked around and studied her surroundings. There were a bunch of old trees and boulders covered in moss protruding out of the ground.
She didn’t know the way to the right path, but Ari knew that this certainly wasn’t.
“I cannot keep going on like this,” said Ari in a soft voice as she nursed her feet, which were aching. Her gaze fell on her wound, which had stained the new bandage that had been wrapped around her waist.
She hoped that Samuel was not taking his anger out on the poor doctor, that man was kind enough to treat her wound. Ari wouldn’t want him to suffer because of her.
Once she had rested enough, Ari got back on her feet, as she knew that she couldn’t sit and wait for help to come and save her. If she wanted to get out of this mess, she would have to keep going.
Turning right, Ari quickly made her way down the slope while hiding from the men who were looking for her. It was only a matter before they started looking for her in the forest as well.
And with so many men looking for her, Ari didn’t believe that she would be able to hide for long.
So before that, she might as well leave this place.
Ari had only taken a few steps when she heard the sound of footsteps from both sides of the trail on which she was walking. Sweat started to coat her forehead and back, it stung her broken skin.
Ari looked back and forth, realizing that there was no time for her to think anymore, she turned around and jumped to the side. Her feet slipped on the muddy slope, and she rolled down, her feet and palms were scratched, yet she did not dare to make a sound.
Instead, as soon as she came to a stop, Ari scrambled to a dark corner, where the gnarled roots of a tree were poking out of the ground.

Hearing the sound of footsteps ring in her ear, Ari gulped nervously before moving even further back.
The dark forest slowly turned bright, and soon Ari could see four to six men coming to a stop. They were holding large torches in their hands.
“Did you find that woman?” Ari heard a man’s tired voice.
“No. Do you think I would still be in this darned place if I found her? Damn that woman,” the other bodyguard cursed as he spat on the ground. “Why did she even have to run away? Couldn’t she have waited for Samuel to do her and be done with it? Why is she playing hard to get?”
“I think she heard about Samuel’s weird fetishes. Are you forgetting that woman? The one who slept with him the last time, he broke her arm. He liked to give pain.”
“He does? That man is weird.”
Broke her arm? Ari’s hands clenched as she hoped that she would never fall into the hands of Samuel.
