Chapter 383: Hide And Seek
However, while Ari was hoping for the men to leave, more than three bodyguards joined them.
“Is Samuel hoping for us to search the entire forest?” One of the men said with a grumbling voice.
“Don’t even ask, I am going crazy here,” said another one in a soft voice. “He is demanding that we look through every crook and nook of this forest. He said that there was no way that woman would have gone on the deeper side and that as long as we look carefully, we will find her.”
“Why is he even obsessed with her?” The man who arrived at the spot first asked with a frown.
Hearing his question, another man chuckled, “It’s nothing, something about an old revenge that he needs to return. I am willing to bet that she embarrassed him, and he is now making her pay for it.”
While they were discussing, more footsteps approached, and this time, it was none other than Samuel.
“Did you find her?” Samuel barked at the men in front of him. It had been more than two hours and they had not found that woman.
“We are trying our best, Mister Samuel,” one of the guards answered. “It’s just that the forest is not small and night has fallen. It is getting harder for us to find that woman.”
“Enough. I didn’t pay you so much money for you to give me excuses. Bring me that woman at all cost, or else I will have you pay for the loss that I have suffered,” Samuel scowled as he turned to look in the direction in which Ari was hiding.
Seeing him look over Ari didn’t even dare to breathe loudly. She stayed where she was without moving.
For a long time, Samuel did not look away instead he peered right into the corner where Ari was hiding like he could see her.
Ari clenched her jaws and her hands turned into fists while she tried to keep her heart calm. She couldn’t let fear rule her or else she would be in trouble.
The sky turned murkier with the clouds gathering in the sky casting heavy shadows on the faces of the men.
Thunder clapped in the sky and Ari sucked in a breath, she was worried that the lightning in the sky would give her hiding spot away but then —
Samuel turned his head after a long time before saying to the bodyguards, “You all better look for her, I am not letting you stop unless we find that woman. Because it was your carelessness that she got out of the ward.”
“We understand,” the guards replied and then walked away from that spot.
Soon Samuel walked away as well.
For a few minutes, Ari didn’t move at all, she was still trying to regulate her breathing. For a second there she thought that she was going to be caught.
Ari waited for a while, fearing that someone would return. When she was sure that no one was returning, she climbed the slope and rushed past the trail.
Soon, she was striding past the old streetlights that had only one surveillance camera, which was functioning.
The cloud over her head rumbled and Ari bit back a curse.
‘Please don’t rain, please don’t rain,’ thought Ari as she dragged her feet even though her body was violently resisting.
And maybe it wasn’t enough, three minutes later as Ari hurtled down the winding trail while hiding from the eyes that were looking for her, there was another thunderclap followed by the dripping sound of rain droplets which soon turned into furious lashing.
Ari could feel her clothes getting soaked in the rainwater along with the bandage which left a trail of blood behind her.
“Damn!”
She cursed and was just about to turn around and cover up her tracks when —
“Damn, you bitch!” Someone slapped her harshly on her face.
A shriek escaped from Ari’s lips as she toppled on the ground. She raised her head and looked at Samuel who was towering over her, seething in rage.
“I knew I saw something at the slope earlier,” he said while panting heavily. Earlier he felt that the gnarled roots of the trees were a bit weird, however as he couldn’t see clearly, he decided to leave it alone.
However, because of the nagging feeling he returned and searched for the slope again only to find the lump at the corner missing.

“Did you have fun playing hide and seek?” Samuel asked Ari as he walked over to where she was lying.
Ari crawled backwards, and her fingers dug into the soil which was moist with rainwater.
She said, “You need to let me go, Samuel. You were right when you said that I was mad–that I was crazy. You shouldn’t get close to a mad woman.”
The man paused in his stride and Ari thought that her words had worked, but then the man sneered and clicked his tongue. “You seriously think that you can outsmart me, huh? It is a good thing that you tried to escape from that hospital. I was worried that with a wound like that, you might die after I am done with you.”
“I was worried about how to deal with your corpse in case you were to die. But now you have solved that little problem as well. No one will know anything if you were to die here, you bitch.”
“If you die, I can just bury you in this forest.”
He wasn’t willing to let her go, and Ari understood it as well.
“Since the whip is useless on you, I will break you in another way.” with that he swooped down and caught Ari’s leg with his hand and pulled her towards him.
Ari screamed and started kicking and pushing the man who was trying to violate her. But the man was strong, and he calmly dragged her to one side which was smoother than the rest of the floor.
Ari gritted her teeth and hurled the ball of mud in her hand on the face of Samuel.
“Ack!”
