Chapter 387: The Protection of De Luca family
Kayden however, noticed it and turned to look at Keon. His eyes narrowed slowly as he eyed the Ashford brothers, something told him that there was more than just a show of gratitude than the three brothers were letting on.

“I don’t believe that it’s related to you?” Noah said with a blank expression. He didn’t show any traces of anger on his face, but his fingers were tightly clenched as if he wished to throw a punch on Keon’s face for daring to even say those words.

“Of course, it’s not,” Keon smiled, but his smile seemed closer to a smirk as he continued, “I am sorry if my words offended you.” And despite offering an apology he didn’t sound like he was apologetic at all.

Noah stared at the man with a harsh expression on his face before turning to look at Kayden. “So where is she?”

Hearing his question, Kayden rolled his eyes at him. “Do you think that she is a pocket-sized pixie? If you cannot see her, it means that she is not here. Nico took her away.”

He then pulled Samuel whom he was dragging by his hair and said, “He only left dear old Sammy with me. Isn’t it Sammy?”

Samuel whimpered. He had never gone through anything this horrible before, he had been punched and kicked before being dragged in such a humiliating way by this deranged man.

His eyes fell on Keon and his brothers and all of a sudden, his eyes glinted with hope.

“Mister Keon! Please help me! I am Samuel! My father is one of your partners. We have met before, haven’t we?” Samuel called out to Keon who frowned and turned to look at the man on the floor.

Mateo arched a brow and remarked, “It seems like you allow any kind of riffraff to enter our company now, Keon.”

Keon glared at him before turning his attention back to Samuel who was clinging to the faint hope in his heart that Keon would save him because of his father and his connection to the Ashford family.

“Your father is no longer the partner of our company,” said Keon, causing Samuel to stiffen.

The man peered over at Keon with a look of disbelief on his face.

“Since when? I —I just heard my father say that he was going to meet you a few days ago,” Samuel struggled to get up from the floor, but Kayden brought him down again with a harsh tug of his hair.

“Since today,” Keon announced with a regal expression. His eyes contemptuously stared at Samuel as he said, “We do not shelter a criminal or his family under our roof.”

Samuel’s eyes widened as he stammered, “N-No this is a mistake. I didn’t do anything, they are the ones who are—”

“Be cautious with what you speak, Sammy,” said Kayden in a threatening voice. “If you dare say anything stupid, I will rip that nasty tongue of yours, since you don’t know how to use it—might as well cut it off, no?”

His words silenced Samuel, but he still continued to look at Keon and the others with a pleading expression on his face.

The three men however simply glanced at him before Emil turned to look at Kayden and asked, “Is she at the City Hospital?”

“That’s correct,” Kayden answered. His eyes flashed with a shrewd glint as he added, “This man caused quite a lot of injuries to Miss Harlow. I believe she will require medical treatment.”

By the time he finished speaking, Keon had already taken his brothers away. Noah turned on his feet as well, and it was then that Samuel noticed him.

Samuel had heard about the Ashford family being neutral towards the Phantoms and the Serpents. Thus he could more or less understand why Keon did not help him but instead was quick to cut off any relationship with him.

However, Noah was different. He had gone against the De Luca family for years, certainly, he would help him.

“Mister Nelson, please help me!” Samuel pleaded for his life to be saved. “They will kill me, please help me.”

Noah turned his body to one side, his grey eyes resembled the stormy sky over their heads as he parted his lips and remarked, “And what makes you think that I will not do the same? You are forgetting, Mister Samuel, the woman you touched is my ex-wife.”

“Regardless of our relationship, she was once my wife. You expect me to save someone who tried to violate her. Have you gone mad? Even if I was a beast, I wouldn’t let you off for what you have done to Ari.”

“I will never let a disrespect like this slide,” he glanced at Kayden before saying, “The De Luca’s will at least give you a short death but if you were to fall in my hands.” He paused before adding in a whisper, “I, on the other hand, will make you live a life that’s worse than death in more than one way.”

He turned on his feet and walked away, the end of his trench coat fluttering behind him.

“You heard that Sammy?” Kayden chuckled as if he had heard a joke. He leaned forward and pulled Samuel’s head back, “He dared to say that we will give you a short death, you?” His tone was filled with disbelief. “Impossible. When Nicolai returns, he will have your skin, bone, and flesh separately.”

“Short death? Oh dear, Sammy —there is no such thing, for you touched the person you shouldn’t have.”

The De Luca family would protect the ones they held dear to themselves and this protection stretched to the lovers and spouses of those who were a part of familia.

For once, the De Luca family would let an attack on them slide but not on their lovers. Never on their lovers.

Samuel shuddered as he gazed at Kayden who smirked at him before he pulled him down the path in a degrading manner once again.
